[Well, Happy 2023 everyone and we might as well start the new year off with a fresh sandbox. In the 19dec22 Sandbox Mr scenes offered an intriguing suggestion (830am) in an attempt to eliminate the detritus of TDS and things gratuitously Trump from continually contaminating practically every other topic with yet another boring lap around the Trump barn. He suggested that RR add a Trump category and restrict posting of Trump-centric comments to that category. I envision it being structured like the Sandbox with dated, and perhaps even topical, labels so that the comment streams don’t become too long. I need to noodle on this and invite readers’ ideas about how it would work. gjr]

Indoctrination in AP clothing –
Now who would say that an important part of black history is queer theory? That is somebody pushing an agenda on our kids. And so, when you look and see they have stuff about intersectionality, abolishing prisons–that’s a political agenda. That’s the wrong side of the line for Florida’s standards. When you try to use black history to shoehorn in queer theory, you are clearly trying to use that for political purposes.
And we want to do history, and that’s what our standards for black history are. It’s just cut and dried history. You learn all the basics. You learn about the great figures and you know, I view it as American history. I don’t view it as separate history. You know, we have history a lot of different shapes and sizes, people that have participated to make the country great, people that have stood up when it wasn’t easy and they all deserve to be taught, but abolishing prisons being taught to high school kids as if that’s somehow a fact? No. That’s not appropriate.

If it were not for airports and gyms there would be no one watching –
Fox News Channel continued to dominate cable news viewership last week as MSNBC and CNN struggled to attract the viewers most coveted by advertisers.
Fox News also obliterated CNN during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m., averaging nearly two million total viewers compared to only 444,000 for CNN.
MSNBC continued to struggle among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults age 25-54, even losing to ratings-challenged CNN among the critical category. Fox News averaged 176,000 viewers among the key demo compared to 80,000 for CNN and a dismal 69,000 for MSNBC.
During primetime, Fox News averaged 256,000 demo viewers while CNN managed 93,000 and MSNBC settled for a dismal 91,000. Fox News topped CNN and MSNBC combined among both total day and primetime demo viewers.
Despite topping MSNBC, the tiny demo audience for CNN was the network’s worst turnout in the category since May 2014.
“The Five” was the most-watched cable news offering of the week with an average audience of 3.3 million viewers, while “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “Jesse Watters Primetime,” “Hannity” and “Special Report with Bret Baier” rounded out the top five. Along the way, Fox News aired 92 of the 100 most-watched cable news telecasts last week.

Corporate America, which has had the ear of Republican politicians for decades, is pressuring lawmakers to raise the ceiling by the deadline. But Republicans, who have gradually abandoned corporate interests in favor of the interests of working-class constituents in recent years, are not as beholden to entities like corporate lobbyists as they once were, before former President Donald Trump’s populist agenda began transforming the GOP, as a pair of consultants outlined to NBC News.
Sam Geduldig, a former senior advisor to former Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) and a co-CEO at CGCN lobbying firm, emphasized that “[t]he constituencies that Republicans are increasingly representing skew working-class” and that these voters “want to disrupt the status quo and the establishment, which includes big corporations.”
The establishment generally wants to preserve the status quo. So I think we’re having a class war, and it’s playing right out in front of us in Congress,” he added.
A Rasmussen Reports poll conducted last week found that the majority of Americans preferred a partial government shutdown instead of increased spending, as Breitbart News reported.

‘Two Florida Residents Indicted on Federal Charges in Connection with Pregnancy Resource Center Attacks’
Two Florida residents have been indicted on federal charges in connection with attacks on several pro-life pregnancy resource centers in the Sunshine State over a period of three months.
Caleb Freestone, 27, and Amber Smith-Stewart, 23, allegedly vandalized a pregnancy resource center in Winter Haven, Fla., according to the Department of Justice. The pair is accused of spray-painting threats including, “If abortions aren’t safe than niether [sic] are you,” “YOUR TIME IS UP!!,” “WE’RE COMING FOR U,” and “We are everywhere.”
The duo “engaged in a conspiracy to prevent employees of reproductive health services facilities from providing those services,” according to the indictment.
“Freestone and Smith-Stewart face up to twelve years in prison, three years of supervised release, and fines of up to $350,000 if convicted.
A Facebook page that appears to belong to Smith-Stewart shows an apparent affiliation with Antifa. The page’s cover photo is an Antifa flag, while the profile picture features an Antifa sticker that says, “Fight all governments there’s no authority but yourself” and another sticker that reads, “make racists afraid again.” Another partially obscured sticker says, in part, “F*** the cops.”
In August 2021, Smith-Stewart posted a picture of a burning American flag and wrote, “The united states is a white mans land. They have made that very clear, they target our people, kill and incarcerate our black men and women. Enough is enough. Its more important then ever to get organized and take direct action. Muerte a América.”
One month later, Smith-Stewart posted, “Let me make this abundantly clear for the people in the back. i am an ABOLITIONIST. I do NOT believe in reform,” seemingly referring to abolishing the police.
In November 2021, Smith-Stewart shared a virtual flyer for a “protest against white supremacy” that suggested Kyle Rittenhouse was guilty. Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all charges after shooting three people, killing two, during the riots in Kenosha, Wis., in August 2020.
“Immediate action in Tallahassee!!!!” Smith-Stewart captioned the flyer. “They wanna f*** around, they gonna find out! WE KEEP US SAFE. If youre able to show up, you better be showing out. Lets show them what direct action is all about.”

The President isn’t a King. That the President has his many minions in the Executive branch (and the armed forces at his command) doesn’t do much to curb the Congress’ spending impulses or get judges taken off the backburner and confirmed.

Most DoDEA libraries probed by Fox News, which were selected at random, contained the entire collection of books by Ibram X. Kendi and many works by Ta-Nehisi Coates, who called 9/11 first responders “menaces.”
Other children’s books at DoDEA included “Defunding the Police” and “White Privilege” by Kelisa Wing, a Pentagon diversity chief at DoDEA under investigation for penning divisive tweets about White people. Republicans requested the Pentagon review her role as chief of diversity, equity and inclusion following Fox News’ reporting.
The Pentagon originally told Fox News Digital that the matter of Kelisa Wing would be referred to Under Secretary of Personnel and Readiness Gil Cisneros for a final decision 30 days after the initial review in September. But, after nearly four months, the Pentagon has dragged its feet, claiming a decision has not been reached.

Despite Newsmax being the 4th highest-rated cable news channel in the nation, a top 20 cable news channel overall, and watched by 25 million Americans on cable alone, according to Nielsen, DirecTV said it was taking the step as a “cost-cutting” measure and would never pay Newsmax a cable license fee.
DirecTV pays cable license fees to all top 75 cable channels and to all 22 liberal news and information channels it carries. Almost all of these channels are paid hefty license fees significantly more than Newsmax was seeking — and despite the fact that most of the channels have much lower ratings than Newsmax.

Yep, Charles C. W. Cooke can’t stand Trump. The NR has undergone a massive change in the last, say, 36 months. VDH won’t write there again without getting into the mud and saying why, Jeff Goldberg went from hero to person non-grata, big power struggles, Rich Lowery emerging on top. I still read NR for stories I find interest in, albeit many of the best stories are now behind the paywall. The CORNER is open to all. Hero to zero, Penthouse to outhouse, Yale to jail….the William Kystol wing of pedophiles and hoaxes pushing through. A common fight from the sewing circles to the editorial boards across the land. NR sure liked Trump’s policies (except tariffs) and still hates the man.
Stuff like this draws my interest.
‘Why Don’t I Know Who That Is?’: NYC Mayor Rips White House for Failing to Identify Point Person in Charge of Border’
“When asked whether he had any constructive conversations about “bringing more order to the border” with the Biden administration, Adams was frank.
“I was told that we have an individual that’s coordinating the operation, and as I shared with White House officials, why don’t I know who that is?”…..
“If my house is burning, I don’t want to hear about fire prevention. Let’s put out the fire. And the fire right now is the over-proliferation of migrant and asylum seekers in several cities in the country,” Adams argued.
The influx of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants to New York City has put a strain on local resources providing social services for the newcomers. According to City Hall, the city spent $366 million last year, with Adams warning that figure may rise beyond $2 billion in just the first half of 2023 alone.
“We’re pointing the finger at our national government,” Adams said during his visit to El Paso.
“This is a national problem. We must have real immigration reform, and we must immediately have a short-term fix of making sure that the cost of this does not fall on our local cities.”
Although President Joe Biden appointed Vice-President Kamala Harris to be the border czar charged with resolving the crisis, she has removed events related to the work from her calendar, advocating instead for addressing the “root causes” of migration in Latin America.

The most troubling information in the GDP report is the precipitous drop in real disposable income, which fell over $1 trillion in 2022. For context, this is the second-largest percentage drop in real disposable income ever, behind only 1932, the worst year of the Great Depression.

While in the waiting room, I decided to repost Dr. Rebane’s comments on this edition of Sandbox:

No one blames Bumblebrain for fifty years of porous borders and bad immigration policy. He only catches blame for supporting open borders under Obama, and most certainly for doing away with the Trump border controls when he became president. This changed illegal in-migration from a relative trickle to a tsunami that under his watch has invited in and dispatched into our hinterlands an historic 5 to 7 million foreign nationals who are overwhelmingly economic refugees from shithole countries. Included in the throngs are drug mules, human traffickers, terrorists of all stripes, and criminals galore. The hundreds of thousands of increased fentanyl overdose deaths of Americans under his watch are totally his responsibility, and caused by his illegal ignoring of the president’s constitutional national security duties. None of this is understood by our Left.

Cereal 1239pm – Your cited Pew data does not hold your argument. First, most formerly counted “encounters” were denied entry and turned back to Mexico, they did not automatically become the catch&release illegals of today. Second, the presented data ends in 2020, the last year of Trump border controls that also denied entry to the overwhelming share of “encounters”. Before Biden, the estimated ‘gotaways’ represented the only large cohort that got in. Third, starting in 2021, the Border Patrol started known catch&release encounters, which for 2021 and 2022 came to more than 5 million, and at the same time their estimated number of gotaways exceeded 500,000 each year. Arguing that today’s border is business as usual over the last decades is ludicrous.

And the opening of this Sandbox:
“In the 19dec22 Sandbox Mr scenes offered an intriguing suggestion (830am) in an attempt to eliminate the detritus of TDS and things gratuitously Trump from continually contaminating practically every other topic with yet another boring lap around the Trump barn.”
Bonus!!!
So in conclusion for today the RR regulars once again stand by their man Donald Trump. The Regulars include the fake Libertarian Gregory who is truly a Trump loyalist.
