[CA fires continue to kill, destroy thousands of homes, and cost billions to contain. In the meantime prescription burns to reduce fuel loads are proscribed because of the potential of litigation costs from accidental or claimed damages from such burns. And police point out that mass shootings invariably occur in ‘gun-free zones’ where legal guns that could prevent/reduce deaths are banned. And the state’s housing shortage and high cost continue to be maintained by regulations and codes that cater to liberal governance dominated by the ecology epidemic. Insanity running rampant and on the rise. gjr]

Condolences to you and your family Walt. Jo Ann and I send our prayers for strength and healing.
RobertC 1255pm – I suspect that you and I don’t even share a definition for ‘hate’. I have no hate for Democrats, in fact I wish them well. But I do not agree with their ideas for society and on governance, and therefore don’t want them to force me and mine to live according to their ideas and the values such ideas give rise to. I just wish that we would start working peacefully on the Great Divide before things get out of hand. But from all your presents, it appears that you folks just want to use force to bend all of us irredeemable deplorables to the fundamentally transformed regime that you are putting in place on this continent. Nothing wrong with that except that around 150M Americans would not want to live under that kind of governance.

Nationalism vs globalism is the issue of our times.
First, nationalism does not mean imperialism, does not nationalism mean white nationalism or black nationalism…no matter what the globalists call it. Nationalism does not mean isolation. Hillary Hodge’s piece in the Union after the 2016 election was chalk full of mourning and lamenting for globalism, backed up by her trip to Spain or Italy. I don’t care how the Left labels it, they are full blown globalists.
Second, Macron came into office as the the new David Hogg, the new O’cosco-Cortez, the new Beto, the new Justin. His approval ratings fell to 9% within a year and the #1 tourist destination in the world (Paris) became a city where US travel agents and tour guides has currently cautioned to visit only in groups, stay close together, and keep your wits about you…if you must see the City of Love.. Globalism.
Marcon was bluffing. He loves globalism. Safety in numbers, just like the tour guides on shuttle buses taking snap shots of the Eiffel Tower. Do I care a rat’s ass what France thinks? No. Do I care a rat’s ass that France is unable to defend itself? Nope. Macron wants an European army that is so powerful it can defend its against Russia, China, and the US. Good luck with dat. Wishful thinking. It’s ok to dream. They are behind in their NATO dues as it is. Worthlessness teats on a boar. The EU’s wailing and gnashing of teeth til the the cows come home is music to my ears.
Yes, the issue of our time is nationalism verses globalism. Some, like M are globalists. Some, like me are not and that’s ok.
We already have a de facto open borders. Wide open for all. Come with a kid, jump the boarder and the lines, and chances are pretty good you will be released into the interior of our Homeland to disappear. The kids can get welfare and the checks go to the “household”. Yep, de facto open borders.
America First. Makes me a nationalist. The story of the pizza joint and business owners putting up an American flag mural bothered me. It was not three cheers for the Red White and Blue. It was not bright, bold, or provocative. It’ was a soft unassuming flag, painted to look a bit faded, a touch of nostalgia. That mural was declared a symbol imperialism and hate…by the globalists. That’s what the M’s and his millions of like minded globalists feel and who they are. To me, they are the true symbols of imperialism and hate. To each his own.

George 3:13 –“therefore don’t want them to force me and mine to live according to their ideas and the values such ideas give rise to.” Don’t you think the same applies to Democrats who don’t want republicans to force them and theirs to live according to the ideas and values of the uber-wealthy? It cuts both ways when extremes are in play such as they are now in American politics. Where is the middle ground? If one looks at the number of total votes nation wide for all partisan elections at all levels, more people vote for Democrats than vote for republicans. The only reason republicans are in the Whitehouse and still control the Senate is because of unequal representation. A senator in California represents 40 million people. A senator from Mississippi represents 3 million people. More people voted for Gore and Clinton than voted for Bush and Trump, yet electoral college totals gave the office to the losers.
So you see, you and yours have a structural advantage that favors the minority position. Republicans/conservatives/wealthy really have nothing to gripe about because, as trumpy reminded us, the system is rigged and the only thing that beats big money in politics is big people. Perhaps, as the midterm elections indicated, people are beginning to wake up to that concept.
For those who will counter that this was typical of midterm elections: why are record numbers of women running on progressive platforms being elected not only by defeating long time MOR Democratic incumbents in the primaries and then winning the midterms, but also by progressives defeating long time Republican stalwarts like Dana Rorabacher in districts that overwhelmingly voted trump. Not to mention the cliff hangers in Florida and elsewhere that are still undecided.

The socialists always screw it up –
The EU’s campaign to shield Iran from U.S. sanctions is doomed to fail.
The biggest European companies already have voted with their wallets and pulled out of Iran. They have a lot more to lose if they are cut off from the U.S. market by secondary sanctions, than they have to gain from trade with Iran’s much smaller market.
Market forces are too strong for such companies to ignore their economic interests in maintaining access to the U.S. market to oblige EU bureaucrats more worried about alleged U.S. “economic imperialism” than they are about the terrorism, subversion, and ballistic missiles exported by Iran.

They are on the left, dude.
As far as ‘forcing’ you to live by the conservatives standards…
    Well.
I’m sorry that being honest and working for a living and obtaining an income from willing participants in your financial endevors cramps your style.
You can buy all the electric cars you want – no one is making you buy an SUV. You can stop buying e-juice from PG&E and put up your own solar panels. Conservatives are not going to hinder you in any way.
You can stick your sausage into any dang receptacle you might want as long as you do it in private.
You can cut your carbon footprint down to nothing and we conservatives will simply laugh at you, but allow you your folly.
Of course if part of your needs are oppressing others then sorry – we will object.
Overall any lefty-wacko crying about conservatives not allowing them their self-appointed life style are actually just crying because we refuse to FUND your life style.
And that’s the real problem for you leftists. Your ideas are simply not economically sustainable without bleeding some other group dry of money.

RobertC 616pm – Here you’re inviting me and others for another lap around the barn that has here been circled for twelve years now. Please read the postings and comment streams in RR’s Great Divide category. The last thing conservetarians like me want is to invite dedicated collectivists to live in our midst and have a perennial debate with them about governance and culture and America’s role in the world order. We both consider each other’s ideologies to be dysfunctional, and many wiser than me have vainly sought to find a workable middle ground. Middle ground has become like no-man’s land in a combat zone – no one can long survive there. All invitations for the Right to meet in the middle require accepting ‘compromises’ or forfeiting fundamental tenets to satisfy ‘my way or the highway’ terms. And the Left correctly understands that it cannot relinquish its narrative against free enterprise, open markets, individual initiative, minimalist government, and America’s sovereignty without losing its constituency which today correctly considers both capitalism and America as two evil anti-global forces that must be subdued. If it did so, it would lose its core constituency.
What you don’t understand is that you’re dealing with nationalists who are unabashedly patriotic.

Unhinged seems to be the best description of the loony socialists, not just here on RR. Here is another wingnut –
Trish Regan played a clip of MSNBC pundit Donny Deutsch positing that “in the sad event” President Trump runs for reelection, he would lose the race but likely “call the military” and refuse to leave office.
Deutsch, a longtime New York City ad executive, said he believes Trump will be “disqualified” before the election heats up.
If Trump ends up running and losing to the Democrat candidate, “it will be stunning what we would see. He would be a president going, I’m not leaving. I’m not leaving. Call the military,” he said.
“We have to look at this man. He really would do that. He would say, ‘No, no, no. I’m still here.’” Deutsch continued. “He would turn to 50 million Americans and say I’m still your president and this is my new government.”

    Walt. @ 6:16 am.
Yep, that old bird looks exactly like some creature one would see in the Star Wars bar scene.
    Mr.Cross:
Unequal representation applies to Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and even Massachusetts. New Hampsire and Delaware. Utah, Montana, and Wyoming as well. Even Nevada. It’s exactly the way our system was designed. To change the electrol college system, you will need all those little states to sign off on it. Good luck with that. Get 3/4 of the State Houses to go along with the change and have a Convention of the States. Technically, it is not called a Constituional Convention, but I digress. You know, there is a point in Pennsylvania or thereabouts where almost half the US population lives within 200 miles of that point on the map…or so I am told. Yep, go for it. The electoral college ain’t going away for a long, long, time.
All designed to prevent the passing passions and fleeting emotions of time (mobs) from one region trampling on the smaller, yet equal states of another region. That’s why one third of the Senate is elected every two years. To stagger it out over six years and prevent mob rule. In the US, each citizen is a majority of one and each citizen is a minority of one. Each State is a minority and majority of one. Each picks it own Senators. States rights. Lest we forget, Bubba failed to win a majority of voters both times,
If Al Gore could have one his own home state of Tennessee, things would have turned out different. And who can forget the spoilers Ralph Nader, Jon Anderson, or Ross Perot.
Some cry out about about States rights. That’s cool. Some cry State rights are equal to the Federal government! Ok, take same sex marriage. States rights did not matter as ballot measures for same sex measures in state after state failed to pass. Kept failing. At that point, States Rights went out the window and the court was petitioned to make it Federal Law, lol.
A reason more progressive women are in the legislative is because more progressive women ran this time. More women running than ever before equates to more women obtaining office. Not to mention the Democrat Party is going through its own “out with the old, in with the new” battle. The battle the Dems are experiencing right now is to determine how far extreme left will they go to hold their menagerie of tribes together? Democrat Socialist? Anything with Socialist before it is still Socialist.
I for one, do not see the jailing,of reporters coming from the Right. I don’t see the Right unleashing the intelligence agencies, Department of Justice, or the IRS on people they politically disagree with. I don’t see 20 AP reporters harassed and threatened with jail time as in the previous administration, not to mention the jailing of a NYT reporter. I do see all these abuses of power coming from Progressives. And more, all coming from the Left.
I don’t see the right screaming to ignore and disregard laws that have been on the books a half century (or forever) because they do not agree with them, as in illegal immigration among others. I do see many things coming from the Leftinistas and all of is designed to silence and crush dissent.
There is a good reason for the electoral college. There is a good reason for 3 co-equal branches of government. It is designed for all the people, all the regions, all the states, not just for those whom the pendulum has temporary swung its way.

Re: 6 in 10 Hispanic American support E-verify to stop hiring of illegal aliens.
That comes as no surprise to me. It would do well for readers who are literate in Espanol to follow news reports in Spanish, which would be particularly usefu to our incontintent diaper head who lives in the area crawling with the KKK, White Supremists, and illegal dope growers.
I watched an Univision reporter (on Spanish broadcast clip) go out and find Mexican-Americans in Texas or Arizona who support the caravan. No takers, lol. Person after person interviewed were against the caravan and stated their reasons quite unambiguously. Come in the legal way. The English broadcast never was aired on Univision in the US. Too funny.
It is quite informing, yet not surprising, listening to interviews of folks actually in the caravan. The good apples feel quite unsafe with criminals in their midst. “They desire my daughter, not safe.” “They [the single males that have slipped into the caraven] do not want to work”. And on and on it goes, straight from the mouths of concerned people in the caravan about the BAD Hombres in their midst. “Not good people”.
The liberal Hispanic left, as well as the run of the mill liberal political left, could not figure out why 30% of the Latino-Americans voted for Trump in 2016. Jorge Ramos felt he had failed in getting his message out, lol. He does not even know his own “people” and does not even have one drop of Mexican or Hispanic in him. He is a Spaniard, born to diplomats and grew up in Mexico. It should come as no surprise. Mexican-Americans are more apt to start small businesses and work hard that many other immigrant classes. They have been here longer and consider themselves Americans. Not all, but a lot or more certainly do.
Ask them what they think of illegal immigration. 6 in10 support E-verify? 40% of Hispanic women voted for Cruz instead of open borders Beto in Texas and Abrams in Georgia? Not surprising.
The criminal element in the caravan has crossed an international border lawlessly, crashing through barricades and gates, hurling rocks and homemade bombs at the host country’s authorities, injuring Mexican Police.
Once crossing the international border, the Mexican criminal elements preys on them. Obama pleaded for them not to make the trip. Not safe. Trump pleaded for them not to come legally. Not safe.
It’s been known for a few years now that there are hundreds of bodies found along the Mexican side of our southern border. Ones that did not pay the cartels or did not survive the rapes or torture for not doing what the cartels wanted them to do. Hundreds of bodies, unmarked and unindentified…before the caravan(s).
Please, please, please apply in Mexico at one of the 11 places we have set up to do it legally and safely. Mexico will provide you with shelter and safety. Please, please come in the front door.

“The group was formed by deserters from the Mexican Special Forces and has made a name for itself working as a security force and cocaine trafficker for the Gulf Cartel.
Zetas have been known to prey on migrant caravans and often ransom travelers unlucky enough to be caught up in their web, according to Al Jazeera.
In 2011, Zetas rounded up and executed 193 migrants fewer than 100 miles from the US-Mexico border in what came to be known as the San Fernando Massacre, according to Mexican newspaper Milenio.
In one instance, the gang marched 72 people at gunpoint to a farm and shot them in the back one by one, according to Al Jazeera. Just two people escaped with their lives.
As many as 20,000 migrants a year are kidnapped and ransomed by criminal gangs, according to human-rights group Amnesty International.
Three out of five women and girls are raped during migrant journeys, according to the group.”

Speaking of CNN, the White House response to the Acosta suit reveals CNN has been issued 50 (FIFTY) hard WH passes to CNN reporters. Unbelievable. 50 CNN ‘journalists’ have WH hard press passes and their ratings still suck. Guess Jim Acosta is the Media.

Male middle school coach refused to watch naked female minor student, gets in hot water.
With a “gag order,” school administrators forbade teachers from talking about the change, and ordered a male P.E. teacher to supervise the potentially undressed girl in the Chasco Middle School locker room, the letter says. When he refused to “knowingly place himself in a position to observe a minor female in the nude or otherwise in a state of undress,” administrators told him “he will be transferred to another school as discipline for ‘not doing your job in the locker room.’”
In an email, an administrator initially threatened to put the male coach on administrative leave, telling him that refusing to supervise a potentially naked female student would “not be tolerated,”said Liberty Counsel attorney Richard Mast. The school’s other P.E. teacher, who is female, also objected and was ignored.

Not all in Tijuana are happy. Shelters overflowing. More coming, lots more.
“About 100 migrants declined offers of rides to shelters and had camped out late Wednesday by the steel border fence at Tijuana’s beach area, when a similar number of local residents marched up to the group shouting, “You’re not welcome,” and, “Get out!”
Police kept the two sides apart.
The first wave of migrants in the caravan, which became a central theme of the recent U.S. election, began arriving in Tijuana in recent days, and their numbers have grown each day. The bulk of the main caravan appeared to still be about 350 miles (600 kilometers) from the border, but has recently been moving hundreds of miles a day by hitching rides on trucks and buses.
A few people pitched tents at the Tijuana beach plaza while most, like Henry Salinas, 30, of Honduras, planned to sleep there in the open. Saying he intended to wait for thousands more in the caravan to arrive, Salinas said he hoped to jump the border fence in a large group at the same time, overwhelming Border Patrol agents.
“It’s going to be all against one, one against all. All of Central America against one, and one against Central America. … All against Trump, and Trump against all,” he said.

    What a wackjob.
“Are you aware that there is a perception that ICE is administering its power in a way that is causing fear and intimidation, particularly among immigrants and specifically among immigrants coming from Mexico and Central America?” she asked.

No, Senator, only migrants that are here illegally need live in fear, as welll they should. That is a good thing. Shows they have a conscious and know they have broken the law and their conscises have been pricked.

Perhaps the idea is that you rush the fence, say some magic words, and then you are legally in the country for a year or ten as the immigration NGOs help you abuse the court system.
    Nope. No problem here.

    Blue wave continues:
Democrat Jared Golden won in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District
“This brings Democrats’ net seat gain to 35. As counting continues in various close races around the country, Democrats could ultimately pick up as many as 39 seats. These are the most House seats Democrats have picked up in a generation — in any election since the wave election after Watergate in 1974.”
