George Rebane

I just finished reading Jay Stratton’s Out of the Shadows: Revealing the Truth About Non-Human Intelligent Life (2026) which came out last week.  It is quite a page turner.  At 336 pages, it is a report by the most senior U.S. government official’s firsthand account of investigating unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and non-human intelligent life.  Stratton presents the entire history of finding the truth about what is known and what is covered up by our government about the things we have come to call UFOs.  The book reads like a high-stakes political thriller, and it should, given the subject matter and the record of its suppression since the 1947 Roswell NM event.

My interest in extra-terrestrial intelligence (ETI) and life goes back to my early teenage years when my grand-aunt gave me Design of the Universe (1954) by Fritz Kahn – one of the first prestigious post-war books on cosmology and the sciences involved in its study.  The book was a turning point in my young life, setting me on the course to becoming a techie.  There was so much more I wanted to know after finishing Kahn’s book.  I learned about the Big Bang, the universe’s approximate age (finally nailed in 2013 to 13.77B years) and its enormous size (now much larger than in the 1950s).  Even then it became clear to me that we were not alone in this universe, and since then the evidence for that conclusion has just kept growing.

So today we know that our universe extends significantly beyond our ability to see or measure it with our instruments.  The diameter of just the visible universe is about 96B light-years in which there may exist up to two trillion (2×1012) galaxies averaging around 100B stars each.  And almost every star has its collection of orbiting planets, yielding around 2×1021 (for you who like to count zeros, that’s 2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) planets that could harbor some form of life.  If we get chinchy and allow life to evolve only on rocky planets with liquid water – the so-called Goldilocks planets, not too hot, not too cold – which may comprise of, say, one in a million of the total, then we would still have 2×1015 (2,000,000,000,000,000) or two thousand trillion to contend with.  To argue that none of those gazillion ideal planets could have given rise to life just boggles the (at least my) mind.

And finally, we bring in time.  Life on earth began around 4 billion years ago, about a billion years after the formation of our solar system, and little less than 10 billion years after the Big Bang.  Being from the Copernican school (q.v.), there’s no reason to think that earlier life on other planets could not have started, say, 5 billion years after the Big Bang when galaxies with their star systems were already mature.  So let’s conservatively consider life on some planet in our galaxy (of 100B to 400B stars) started about a million years before here on Earth.  It should be clear that a million years is a blink of an eye on cosmic time scales.

So now ask, what would such a civilization have done in the interval, being a million years ahead of us; or more mind-blowing, what would intelligent life on Earth accomplish in the next million years, or even the next thousand years?  Were we to survive what cosmologists call the Great Filter (civilizations destroying themselves), then our (in silico?) progeny would definitely have ventured to the stars, and, no doubt met other civilizations along the way.  Coming full circle, this reasoning lays the groundwork for the robust conclusion that it is highly probable that that aliens are already here and have been here for, perhaps, thousands of years.

From the UAP videos we have been on TV and the more detailed reports documented by Stratton, it is clear that our aliens have mastered an advanced physics.  Their vehicles use field effect, rather than reaction, engines.  And they have mastered the real structure of spacetime, which is still a mystery to us.  This means that their inter-stellar travel is what we would recognize as super-luminal – they are not restricted by speeds maxing out at the speed of light.  The evidence for this is in the observations and recordings that show their vehicles to be enclosed in a bespoke field which allows speeds and accelerations unexplained by our relativity, let alone by Newtonian mechanics.

This is type of alien vehicle kinematics I have been fortunate to witness myself.  As a lifelong backpacker and camper, we took frequent forays into the mountains and deserts of California with our families and friends.  A popular venue for us was the Mojave desert at the foot of the Rand Mountains east of US395.  The region is dotted with open abandoned mine shafts, some are hundreds of feet deep.  My brother-in-law and I with our sons were camped there one moonless night in 1980.  We were sitting around the campfire after sunset when suddenly we noticed a craft about the size of a large helicopter with a small light on each end hovering about 50-100 yards to our west.  It was too dark for us to make out its exact shape.

We stood up, confirmed that all four of us were seeing the same thing, and just watched this craft hover about ten feet off the ground not making a sound or disturbing the ground.  This face-off lasted for about five minutes, then it suddenly moved away from us, silently accelerated, and disappeared into the distant sky at a rate that no earthly vehicle could achieve.  The four of us were stunned by how this mysterious craft just appeared, watched (recorded?) us, and left, emitting no sound nor leaving any evidence, which we confirmed the next morning, that it had been there.

Sharing this experience with my engineering colleagues, all professional developers of various combat systems, revealed that several more of them had witnessed similarly astounding sightings near military installations.  And now that we have entered the post-Singularity epoch of human development (more here), it will be interesting to see how the alien scrutiny of us will be impacted.  From a technical perspective there is more to be said here, but I’ll leave it here since this post is intended to interest and not confuse the intelligent layman.

So I’ll end this missive by pointing you to a concise summary of Stratton’s book, downloadable below.  And I strongly recommend that you watch the documentary ‘The Age of Disclosure’ on Amazon Prime.

Well, the witness drawings on this Newsweek article certainly make a convincing case for FTL alien visitations.
