This year Republicans can only choose between voting Republican in the voting booth, or voting Democrat by staying home.  There is no other choice.

All progressives believe the media propaganda about the administration taking eligible people off of government healthcare, people who are implied to be Americans qualified to receive the benefits. Whereas the demonstrable proof is that in its efforts against waste, fraud, and abuse, the administration has purged over 750,000 illegals, unqualified, and ‘ghost’ (non-existent) people from Obamacare rolls thereby saving us taxpayers over $2.2B in fraudulent payments. And none of these neighbors ask or wonder why the Democratic Party is not supporting this fight to eliminate such waste.

Today the French again follow their historically consistent pattern of demonstrating against their inefficient welfare state, heavily in debt, and continuing to reduce services while raising taxes and increasing regulations. The country is a posterchild of socialism at work(?). Our own socialists have lauded the French while doing everything possible to have America follow the same path.

Why is President Trump hosting China’s Xi Jinping and, this December, Russia’s Putin – two dictators and dedicated America’s foes – in pomp and circumstance visits that bolster their standing and legitimacy on the world stage, all without producing any new agreements that benefit us? We look like chumps who believe that red carpets and state dinners will somehow get them to cut us a little slack. Under dictatorial regimes Russia and China will be our eternal enemies, and we should deport accordingly.

Belated kudos to Joe Biden for picking Kamala Harris as his VP, a person even more muddled who almost made him look good with teleprompters. Now we wonder who possibly could Kamala choose in 2028 so as to burnish her spontaneous soliloquies.

[11oct26 update] Here’s a checklist for America-hating socialists.  In this election season it’s important to consider which of our candidates really want to continue building our country in this new age of technology, and those who want to fundamentally transform it into a stagnant second world EU-like socialist country on its way to global autocracy cum communism.  This speech by former Colorado governor Richard Lamm gave us a clear and succinct litmus test to identify the politicians out to do us harm who depend on wholesale voter ignorance to get into office.

[17oct26 update]  Kudos to the armed dad in Bend, OR who took down the teenaged killer who murdered three kids and a teacher in a local elementary school.  Had he not acted promptly and heroically, there would have been more loss of life.  Had not the father of two at the school been armed, the massacre would have continued at least until the police arrived.  But the lamestream media reports on the incident totally omit that critical aspect which saved lives, and would not connect the dots to other school shootings that could have been eliminated or greatly minimized if there had been an armed defender at the scene.  But the Left’s narrative is to remove all non-government guns from society, and anything that refutes that is either ignored or mis-reported.

MAGA mentality might be bad for your health…

“The average high-school graduate will earn about $1 million less over their lifetime
than the average four-year-college graduate. The average person without a four-year college degree lives about eight years less than the average four-year-college grad. Thirty-five percent of high-school graduates are obese, compared with 27 percent of four-year-college grads. High-school grads are much less likely to get married, and women with high-school degrees are about twice as likely to divorce within 10 years of marrying as women with college degrees. Nearly 60 percent of births to women with a high-school degree or less happen out of wedlock; that’s roughly five times higher than the rate for women with at least a bachelor’s degree. The opioid death rate for those with a high-school degree is about 10 times higher than for those with at least a bachelor’s degree.

The most significant gap may be social. According to an American Enterprise Institute study, nearly a quarter of people with a high-school degree or less say they have no close friends, whereas only 10 percent of those with college degrees or more say that. Those whose education doesn’t extend past high school spend less time in public spaces, less time in hobby groups and sports leagues. They’re less likely to host friends and family in their home.”

Republicans are all about stealing elections – we saw it on Jan 6, and long before that….

“…it’s not like we haven’t seen Republicans steal elections before. After Jeb Bush purged some 90,000 mostly Black and Hispanic voters from the Florida rolls just before the 2000 election, his brother “won” by 537 votes. The state Supreme Court ordered a recount and, ignoring the 10th Amendment and the Constitution having given voting to the states, five corrupt Republicans on the US Supreme Court halted the count.

A year later a consortium of news organizations finished examining the ballots and found that if every disputed ballot in the state had been counted, Al Gore would have come out ahead. As the November 12th, 2001 article in The New York Times read:

“If all the ballots had been reviewed under any of seven single standards and combined with the results of an examination of overvotes, Mr. Gore would have won.”

But that recount didn’t happen because a crowd of Republican congressional staffers — backed up by lawyers Brett Kavanaugh, John Roberts, and Amy Coney Barrett who’d come to Florida to help out — held their “Brooks Brothers Riot” pounding on the doors and windows of the Miami-Dade canvassing board until it shut down its hand recount.”

    AI Overview

Yes, John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett all participated in legal work supporting George W. Bush’s team during the 2000 Florida recount and Bush v. Gore dispute:
    • John Roberts: He flew to Florida to advise and assist Florida Governor Jeb Bush (George W. Bush’s brother) and helped fine-tune and prepare the legal strategy for the Supreme Court battle.
    • Brett Kavanaugh: He joined the legal team working on the ground, offering legal counsel and arguing against what he described as the standardless nature of the Florida recount process (including work involving county-level disputes like Volusia County).
    • Amy Coney Barrett: As a young associate at the firm Baker Botts, she spent about a week in Florida doing research and drafting legal briefs to help defend Republican absentee ballots (such as those in Martin County with missing registration info) against Democratic challenges.

“MAGA mentality might be bad for your health…”

Most of the posted stats have nothing to do with Trump. And a lot to do with Dem voters. Meanwhile – speaking of health:

“In a revealing snapshot of the nation’s psychological pulse, a 2020 Pew Research Center survey found that white adults identifying as liberal report markedly higher rates of professional mental health diagnoses than their moderate or conservative peers. Nowhere is this more striking than among white liberal women aged 18–29, more than half of whom have been diagnosed—double the rate of comparable conservatives wibc.com. This disparity raises urgent questions about the mental well-being of America’s most progressive voters and suggests the crisis extends far beyond this single demographic slice. The Pew Survey: Scope, Methodology and Key Metrics

Pew’s analysis draws on responses from thousands of U.S. adults surveyed in 2020, asking: “Has a medical professional ever told you that you have a mental health condition?” To ensure comparability:

    • Population: White, non-Hispanic adults categorized by self-identified ideology (liberal, moderate, conservative).
    • Age groups: Disaggregated into 18–29, 30–44, 45–64, and 65+ cohorts.
    • Diagnosis threshold: Any lifetime professional diagnosis of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, or similar conditions.

By focusing on diagnoses—rather than momentary distress—Pew isolates clinical-level mental health issues. Although the survey does not capture unreported or subclinical cases, its rigorous sampling and question design provide a trustworthy benchmark for ideological comparisons. Young White Liberal Women: The Epicenter of Elevated Diagnoses

The most dramatic finding centers on white women ages 18–29 who identify as liberal. In this group:

    • 56.3% report a professional mental health diagnosis.
    • 28.4% of self-identified moderates and 27.3% of conservatives in the same age bracket report diagnoses wibc.com.

This near two-to-one gap suggests factors intrinsic to liberal ideology—or life circumstances common among young progressive women—drive higher diagnosis rates. Whether due to greater willingness to seek help, heavier exposure to stress-inducing social issues, or a genuine uptick in clinical disorders, the numbers are impossible to ignore.”

Total fail, RH – but try again!

Well, the grocery store refrigerators in France sure are toast.

On an unrelated note, I rather like this Marc Andreesson quote

“There’s basically three components to the American dream. A house near great job opportunities, great health care for you and your family, and sending your kids to good schools”

“If you disaggregate the economy over the last 25 years, everything that technology touches basically collapses in price. Television sets, computer games, anything with electronics in it. But if you chart housing, education, and health care, the prices of those things are skyrocketing”

“The government restricts supply, zoning laws and university certifications. And then the government responds to the political pressure caused by the rising prices by subsidizing demand. And of course, if you subsidize demand and a fixed supply, you get skyrocketing prices”

RH asks the Oracle…”Did James Talarico says Texas oil and gas workers are “destroying the planet” and it’s “time to transition” the industry”

No, James Talarico did not say that Texas oil and gas workers are destroying the planet. Political attack campaigns and social media posts have conflated his actual statements about the broader fossil fuel industry to frame his words as a direct criticism of the workforce.

    The Actual Quote

According to a transcript shared by the Lone Star Liberty PAC on X, Talarico’s actual remarks regarding the energy sector focused on the commodities themselves and the market economy, rather than individual workers:
Talarico stated that fossil fuels are harming the planet, compared Texas’s energy position to being a supplier of cassette tapes in 1988, and asserted that it is time to transition to cleaner energy, questioning the hostility toward finding a greener path. The full excerpt and transcript can be found in the referenced source.

    Context of the Controversy

    • The “Cassette Tape” Analogy: Talarico used this comparison to argue that Texas must prepare for a global shift toward renewables, likening a sole reliance on oil and gas to dominating an obsolete technology.
    • Legislative Record: He authored the 2021 Texas Climate Action Act (HB 2206) to propose statewide greenhouse gas reductions.
    • Campaign Rebranding: Per The Texas Tribune (September 22, 2026), Talarico adopted a moderate stance in his 2026 U.S. Senate campaign, emphasizing an “all-of-the-above” approach supporting both oil and gas and renewable infrastructure.

Oil, nat gas, and coal are not “technologies” – they are fuel. And the laws of physics show them to be a very good fuel. That’s why China is greatly expanding their use, while supporting useful fools like Tally-Wacko who lives in a make-believe world. Govt-forced transitioning to non-carbon fuels has proven to be a disaster for the UK and Germany. Electrically powered vehicles depend on rare earth elements that are finite in availability. Wind and solar can play a part in our energy needs, but they should only be used without artificial financial props mandated by the govt. A free market capitalist system will provide any transition off of carbon based fuels that might be needed without any govt mandates or interference. Nuke power is clearly necessary – we are way behind in bringing some online.

Everything he says about ending the mutual destruction of infrastructure in Ukraine is a lie. Russia denies it. The attacks continue, as can be observed year after year, every evening or night, and during the day as well.

George, I can see that rich and wealthy people in America are benefiting from the Trump system, and they are doing so to an extraordinary extent. Above all, his own dynasty has become richer during his presidency than that of any president before him.

But the foolish and poorly educated MAGA supporters either fail to see this or simply refuse to see it. They don’t read newspapers; they only listen to and read certain social media outlets.

Well-educated people like you support the Trump administration because they can line their own pockets in the process. But what about those who are less well-off and less well-educated? What about poor people? They are the ones who lose. They are pushed to the margins of society and perhaps even, as was once proposed, driven out of the cities. They are supposed to hide away.

I want to make it clear that I do not equate being poor with being lazy. I stand up for the poor, not the lazy. But what does it mean to be lazy? Very often, these people come from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds, which leave them without the strength or resources to escape the environment in which they are trapped.

You have been fortunate in life to be so intellectually gifted. To begin with, that is not something you can take credit for. It is largely down to the genes you inherited from your parents.

How can we possibly believe that the Trump administration—and with it the Republican Party, in its current form, seemingly incapable of resisting the vast majority of Trump’s ideology—is anything other than a disaster, a disaster for the entire Western world?

Now Trump is even handing Ukraine over to Putin, or effectively giving it to him, by lifting sanctions against Putin, potentially at the expense of Europe and other nations as well.

Why can’t you see that Trump is ultimately selling America itself to Russia, to Putin? All for his own personal gain and that of his family.

I hope he loses. I hope the Republican Party loses the midterm elections. That is my greatest wish and my greatest hope.

    Thank you.

Blissful – “Well-educated people like you support the Trump administration because they can line their own pockets in the process.”  I’ll let that one go, because it’s clear you have not either read or understood the reams of my Trum-critical posts in these pages.  One more time – I believe that our president has made serious mistakes in his handling of the Ukraine and Iran wars, Putin’s diesel offer, North Korea, and the arming of Taiwan.  I laud his policies on reducing taxes and regulations, securing borders and handling illegal aliens, energy independence, and fighting fraud, waste, and abuse along with reducing the size of government.

The Democrats (and apparently you) oppose every one of these policies and see the nation’s future as having a weakened sovereignty, larger government involvement in our economy and people’s lives, and in general making progress toward a collectivist globalism along the lines of Marxist thought – central control über alles.  What gives credence to this assessment is that its use as a basis continues to reliably predict the anti-American actions and supported policies of our Democrat-led Left.
