[The Republican Party is somewhere between somnambulant and dead in the national public forum; and especially so in local politics as confirmed in the pages of The Union. If our newspaper is any indication, one can readily witness the absence of conservative op-ed voices while the local progressives cum socialists enthusiastically populate those pages with their collectivist TDS screeds and relentless attacks on any conservative who dares call them out for their ignorant critiques that celebrate all things collectivist. I have long assumed the mantle of conservetarian commentary in The Union, and almost daily take the slings and arrows from the Left for my unabashedly outspoken views. It’s a lonely battle in these backwoods, and I sure would like some company from the party that supposedly opposes socialism. Not holding my breath. gjr]
