George Rebane

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) died last night.  He was a good man and an effective legislator who was able to work with both sides of the aisle.  This because he was a Bayesian – getting new information often allowed him to change/improve his position on issues.  As an influential supporter of Israel, Ukraine, and US alliance, his 20+ year involvement, leadership, and wisdom contributed much to the workings of our foreign policy under both Republican and Democrat presidents.  May he rest in peace.

The Democratic Socialists of America are proto-communists whose ideological tenets unify around anti-capitalism, labor organizing, anti-imperialism, and strong support for Palestinian rights. (platform.dsausa.org).  They are now updating their programs to further restructure US institutions to include eliminating the US Senate, making POTUS and SCOTUS subordinate to Congress, and abolishing various “carceral forces” along with defunding major parts of the military.  DSA’s “carceral forces of the capitalist state” include prisons and police and related coercive practices of the entire punitive apparatus seen as upholding capitalist inequality.  Such is the clearest understanding to date of the political rot that is now eating away at our constitutional republic.  Democrat know-nothings continue to erroneously maintain that their party’s socialists are not the nation’s greatest threat.  We recall that communism/socialism was established in Russia, China, Germany, Cuba, Venezuela, … through political transformations carried out internally, and not through external invasion – with our voters with two generations of Leninist education under their belts, the DSA wants to put us on the same path.

We are now on a slow and tentative path toward regime change in Iran.  The ridiculous cease fire is over, the blockade is being re-established (hopefully), Hormuz is mostly open for safe and free passage, and we are beginning to destroy their infrastructure – bridges, railroads, energy facilities.  It’s taken this administration a while to finally understand with whom they have been attempting to make a deal, when the answer all along has been ‘No deal, just unconditional surrender with verifying inspections.’

[13jul26 update]  The politics of socialist envy.  SpaceX going public created a crop of new millionaires to billionaires numbering almost 5,000.  Anthropic’s anticipated IPO will create more thousands of new millionaires, deca-millionaires, centi-millionaires, and billionaires.  The proto-communist Democrats are decrying the creation of this new wealth as an example of how wealth is inequitably divided under capitalism and concentrated among the select few.  Their double dummy constituents lap this crap up hook, line, and sinker.  The truth is that such events are another example of how capitalism creates new wealth and distributes it among the working class.  This truth cannot be handled by our evil party that knows only how to redistribute existing wealth, and so the lies and their destructive consumption goes on.

[14jul26 update]  VDH supports Rebane Doctrine (e.g. here) for use of military force in Iran.  All communications with the murderous theocrats should be conducted on the background of our continuing strikes to take out their income generating infrastructure in a manner visible to the average Iranian.  There should be no negotiations for any agreement, only a statement of demands for unconditional surrender.  In the end, it is Iran’s citizens who must detect the weakened state of the regime and rise up to oust it.  We are told that the CIA and the Mossad are quietly organizing and supplying arms for such an uprising.  But the people must first see evidence of the growing helplessness of the mullahs and the Republican Guards.  Victor Davis Hansen’s recent arguments are in his ‘The US Needs to Hit Iran Harder to End the War’.

The two ICE shootings in the last week could have been avoided.  When ICE identifies an address and/or facility in and around which illegal aliens gather or inhabit, they always seal off the street so that they can inspect the occupants of any cars that desire to leave the restricted area.  It is in the attempt to stop such traffic with on-foot ICE agents that lead to the shootings.  The illegal alien behind the wheel will just attempt to drive right through the blocking agent.  My approach is for ICE to always seal off the desired area with tire-flattening strips or road spikes that are standard equipment in every police and highway patrol car.  The departing cars would then be halted, inspected, and released as appropriate.  Escaping cars would not get very far with flattened tires.

    George,

“It’s taken this administration a while to finally understand with whom they have been attempting to make a deal, when the answer all along has been ‘No deal, just unconditional surrender with verifying inspections.”

I very much doubt that DRT and his advisors did not completely understand that going in. He has necessarily shown the civilized world that the fanatical Iran regime cannot be dealt with in any normal fashion. What happens now is a result. So, how do you suggest we achieve unconditional surrender? Are Americans ready for troops on the ground? I believe DRT was hoping to avoid destroying Iran completely, though he has repeatedly threatened to do just that. Can we starve them into revolution? Will the people rise up? Are we ready to occupy? Should we have let them achieve the bomb – no to that! Otherwise, I personally do not have the answers.

    R.I.P Senator Graham.

Re: George R.’s paranoid delusions (or is he crazy as a rebane?) –

The Propaganda – Labeling opponents with extreme terms is an effective campaign tactic used to mobilize voters and raise political stakes. By linking mainstream Democrats with the most radical, left-wing elements of the party, conservative strategists aim to frame elections as a choice between “common sense” and radical collectivism.Experts and political scientists generally note that this comparison is highly inaccurate.

The Reality – The Democratic Party is largely a capitalist, center-left party that works within a free-market framework, prioritizing the regulation of capitalism rather than the abolition of private property or the institution of a one-party state.

Conservatives think giving children free lunch at school is socialism, but vast, powerful private monopolies are freedom.

Ever since the New Deal, the US right has relied on an ideological mixture as incoherent as it is toxic, with charges of communism freely interspersed with accusations of fascism. Into that mixture, US reactionaries sprinkle what is politely called “anti-elitism” but often enough amounts to thinly disguised antisemitism. Musk and the Republican ideologues now regularly portray Kamala Harris as controlled by secret “puppetmasters”, the Soroses (son and father) in particular, bent on advancing a “globalist” or “cultural Marxist” agenda.

Interesting that Nazism, National Socialism by another name, is a far right ideology.

Trump embraces the Führerprinzip: The “leader principle,” dictating that the party leader’s word is above all written law, establishing absolute obedience.

Linday mostly kowtowed to the Fuhrer. We all remember when Lindsey had ‘had enough’ of Trumpism after Jan 6., but soon got back into the Trump goose-step.

Totally wrong. It obviously veers towards the left. Calling socialism (collectivism) “right wing” is absurd. The current Dem party is headed straight down the goose-stepping road. Hatred of Jews, govt control of thought and speech, confiscation of privately owned firearms, govt intrusion into the daily workings of private companies, and increasing socialism. All Dem aims, if not accomplishments. Der Fuhrer would be pleased.

“the party leader’s word is above all written law, establishing absolute obedience.”

That is complete BS – we’ve been hearing about all the things that Trump is GOING to do and none of it happens. At what point do you TDS sufferers admit you are wrong? Never, apparently.

Over many years I have found Dr. Rebane to be the most coherent of voices here. TDS is incurable. The opposition might want to focus internally, given the rise of the DSA taking over their party. What the Democrats were, or thought they were, is being rapidly dismantled. But Trump blinds their perspective. Sad to watch.

Fully – I assume that your DRT = DJT our current POTUS.  All evidence issuing from the WH explicitly expects Iran to make a deal in the manner of civilized western deal making.  That expectation is a gross error in dealing with these theocratic thugs and zealots.  As the history with communists has long shown, it is not possible to make good-faith deals with tyrannical autocrats.  You either crush them economically or militarily, or continue an uneasy coexistence which they will violate at their first chance of military victory.  We must never forget that all such regimes are on the road to social failure and must invoke foreign threats to keep their suffering populations in line – and that does not go on forever.  In these pages I have outlined in detail how we go about to achieving unconditional surrender with the Iranian ragheads, and it doesn’t require a land war to achieve.  The Iranian people themselves will effect regime change.  Nightly bombing of their missile sites, storage facilities, and radars will not cut it – that gives further evidence that DJT is still not clear on the concept.

RH – Appears you are not keeping up with the reactions of the Democrat Party leadership to the DSA’s objective of governance – you have completely missed their sound of silence.  Added to that are the DSA’s  own pronouncements about the wrong direction of the Democrats.  EVERY Democrat policy in recent memory has had the objective if not the effect of reducing our “free market framework”.  What is your evidence for the Right’s “incoherent and toxic ideological mixture”, or evidence of “powerful private monopolies”, or that DJT’s “word is above written law”, or that you understand anything about the collectivist (i.e. far left) principles that underlie Nazism (National Socialism)?

Except that it’s not. Those pesky Germans invented their own thing over time with help from some Italians. Thanks for playing though. ‘Right wing’ is kind of a creature of the French Revolution with a lot of changes since I suppose.

Honestly, I’m not sure that those words mean anything anymore. Political movements seem to always have their own flavor.

Left and Right do have some legitimate political meaning, but they are often used carelessly as a lazy way of not bothering to delve a bit deeper into a fuller understanding of a particular position a person or movement professes. The most idiot L vs R foisted on the public was the idea that the Soviets were left and the NAZIs were on the right. Because they were enemies, so golly – they must be at polar extremes. Economically, they were both collectivists at heart. And both govts featured strong military/police control and both were highly nationalistic and big on expansion of their borders(imperialism). They were not at each other’s throats due to ideological differences. Just 2 bellicose dictatorships continuing a long running desire to conquer one another.

Maybe right vs. left just boils down to whether your military gets snappy uniforms.

Naturally, there’s always the human need to reduce things into a sort of abstract tree. Maybe it’s just the fascination with words and story telling. Combine that with status-seeking, no doubt part of psul’s fascination with Trump is virtue signalling to his peer group, and things like embarrassment, and you’ve got the human creature in a nutshell.

I listen to older radio news a fair amount, and it’s fun to check out Johnson’s or Nixon’s latest adventures. All forgotten now (yesterday, Agnew just went to Cambodia to chat about Communists), but no doubt the same easily upset people were, well, upset back then.

It’s the big, long term moves that seem to make a difference. Unlimited immigration. The feedback loop of ‘progressives’ into schools at all levels, the takeover of government and some large business administration by a more female mindset (ie. the ‘Longhouse’ in some corners of the internet), the movement of work from self-employment to large organizations and the keyboard, mobile communications for the hoi polloi.

We won’t know the results until it’s too late of course, but the Wheel of Fortune is not to be avoided I think.

“We won’t know the results until it’s too late of course…”

That’s probably the biggest joke of the “information” age. Feedback from being stupid used to be fairly immediate just 50 years ago – with some obvious exceptions.

The govt has been busy, busy, busy protecting everyone from themselves and their mistakes and now the info feedback loop has been distorted/broken for so much of our lives that the old adage of ‘learning from your mistakes’ has become practically extinct in large areas of modern life. There are still lots of folks committing the modern crime of “noticing” reality and lots of stuff is available for those who care to investigate what can go wrong with every new social development, but they end up being the little boy who pointed out the emperor’s new clothes were just his underwear and are shouted down.

The big one is the idea of a social safety net – no matter how lazy and stupid you are in your early years, you “deserve” a happy tax-payer supported life til you kick off. Since these programs have to be equitable, there are no requirements for the recipients to have made even the most basic efforts at being productive members of society. Hence – societal rot and ruin. Enjoy!

    re today’s update –

“The proto-communist Democrats are decrying the creation of this new wealth as an example of how wealth is inequitably divided under capitalism and concentrated among the select few.”

    Mamdani agrees:

“We see the wealthiest country in the history of the world, one where children go to sleep hungry while the world’s first trillionaire hungers for more.”

Clap trap designed for the low IQ, the ideologues, the ‘educated’ who parked their brains outside the door on their way into the TDS salon.

There are children going to bed hungry but the reasons have absolutely nothing to do with E Musk’s (or anyone else’s) wealth. Mamdani knows this. He and his ilk spread this crap to gain power, not to actually help any of the afflicted, beyond a handful for a cheap photo-op.

Our govt run education system has done its job.

I just had to laugh and laugh at that. ‘Democrats’ are simply like any other too-established group of people who want to run matters.

They’re simply a coalition of self-interested groups all in it for the main chance. Take money at gunpoint, hand out to your friends. Love of the microphone and group status seeking drive the beast along with filthy lucre. Politicians are a supercharged version of the Peter Principle, rarely skilled in the matters they legislate. Feelz-based decisions rule the day, and as long as money and power are skillfully doled out, the spice will flow.

We’ve metastasized a government that no one can escape now. Fools like Lindsay Graham or John McCain could play Risk in a half-witted fashion while Barrack Obama could attempt to design economies. The upcoming surveillance state will make the post-WWII US look positively hands-off. It’s a bummer that European-style Bureaucracy followed the English yeoman farmer to the New World, but it was probably inevitable.

From today’s crazy op-ed screed in The Union:

“I doubt the framers of the Declaration of Independence would recognize this government. “

roflmao. Ain’t that the truth. I’m not sure that the local libruls would like an 18th C. style fedgov. I guess that the early days of the Republic are whatever you want them to be.

    From ‘Not The Bee’:

‘Chancellor of elite California medical school: “The vast majority of pregnancies are in women.”’

Remember, every time you bother to argue with psul or R. Hillbilly, this is what you are fighting with.

“Yes….poor Cheryl has been in a tizzy recently!”

Not sure who wrote it, just saw that line, snorted, cut ‘n paste. The writer had a retired government employee smell to them.

The tropes are so common in letters to the editor, always by non-practitioners, nearly always about national issues that they saw on their cell phone, that it cries for an AI approach. You could have a new one every few minutes at The Union and no one could tell the difference.

(Related note) Listening to the various apparatchiks interviewed on KNCO, my new plan is Nevada County News Bingo. Print up a bunch of cards with ‘community’, ‘diversity’, ‘resilient’, ‘children’, ‘vibrant’, ‘inclusive’, ‘thriving’, etc. Five in a row wins. I was considering a drinking game, but decided to stay out of the hospital.

The Rebane’s Ruminations MAGA influence outlet continues to generate smokescreens to misdirect the public at large through repetitive conspiracy theories.

If it is not the Trans invasion, the rapacious immigrant invasion, it is the insidious socialist/collectivist/communist epidemic conspiracy overtaking the Democratic party.

But all of this is designed to misdirect the US voter collective from the lies and corruption rampant in the MAGA Republican collective.

One only has to listen to Trump’s speech for evidence of the lies.
Trump likes to deluge us with conspiracy theories gladly repeated on this site like, local favorite, the “Russia Hoax”

Only thing is, it was not a hoax… as evidenced by Docs released by Trump on Jan 3rd this year

“This is really incredible. Docs released by Trump tonight confirm RUSSIA tried to spread claims Biden was engaged in criminal activity vis-a-vis Burisma and that it advanced those narratives “with US officials” and planned a “high-profile corruption scandal… at the peak of the 2020 US presidential campaign.”

“Russian actors have circulated narratives about voter fraud resulting from mail in balloting and called some US primary voting processes RIGGED by the Democratic party!”

So Trump (and MAGA) bought the “election was rigged” conspiracy theory from Russia.
    MAGA are Putin’s useful idiots.
