George Rebane

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) died last night.  He was a good man and an effective legislator who was able to work with both sides of the aisle.  This because he was a Bayesian – getting new information often allowed him to change/improve his position on issues.  As an influential supporter of Israel, Ukraine, and US alliance, his 20+ year involvement, leadership, and wisdom contributed much to the workings of our foreign policy under both Republican and Democrat presidents.  May he rest in peace.

The Democratic Socialists of America are proto-communists whose ideological tenets unify around anti-capitalism, labor organizing, anti-imperialism, and strong support for Palestinian rights. (platform.dsausa.org).  They are now updating their programs to further restructure US institutions to include eliminating the US Senate, making POTUS and SCOTUS subordinate to Congress, and abolishing various “carceral forces” along with defunding major parts of the military.  DSA’s “carceral forces of the capitalist state” include prisons and police and related coercive practices of the entire punitive apparatus seen as upholding capitalist inequality.  Such is the clearest understanding to date of the political rot that is now eating away at our constitutional republic.  Democrat know-nothings continue to erroneously maintain that their party’s socialists are not the nation’s greatest threat.  We recall that communism/socialism was established in Russia, China, Germany, Cuba, Venezuela, … through political transformations carried out internally, and not through external invasion – with our voters with two generations of Leninist education under their belts, the DSA wants to put us on the same path.

We are now on a slow and tentative path toward regime change in Iran.  The ridiculous cease fire is over, the blockade is being re-established (hopefully), Hormuz is mostly open for safe and free passage, and we are beginning to destroy their infrastructure – bridges, railroads, energy facilities.  It’s taken this administration a while to finally understand with whom they have been attempting to make a deal, when the answer all along has been ‘No deal, just unconditional surrender with verifying inspections.’

    George,

“It’s taken this administration a while to finally understand with whom they have been attempting to make a deal, when the answer all along has been ‘No deal, just unconditional surrender with verifying inspections.”

I very much doubt that DRT and his advisors did not completely understand that going in. He has necessarily shown the civilized world that the fanatical Iran regime cannot be dealt with in any normal fashion. What happens now is a result. So, how do you suggest we achieve unconditional surrender? Are Americans ready for troops on the ground? I believe DRT was hoping to avoid destroying Iran completely, though he has repeatedly threatened to do just that. Can we starve them into revolution? Will the people rise up? Are we ready to occupy? Should we have let them achieve the bomb – no to that! Otherwise, I personally do not have the answers.
