Breaking news about the thugs who are crying in court after pleading guilty of spraying mace on police officers during the Jan 6 riot.
“Two New York state men who led a mob that overwhelmed police at the perimeter of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 โ then bodysurfed over the top of the crowd at a building entrance and pepper-sprayed officers โ were both sentenced Friday to 44 months in prison,” The Washington Post reported. “Cody Mattice, 29, of Greece, N.Y., and James Mault, 30, of Brockport, N.Y., both wept as they stood before Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell and asked for leniency, apologizing for their actions and saying they hoped to return soon to their families and young children……
Judge Howell said, “they were not patriots on Jan. 6, and no one who broke the police lines and stopped the democratic process was a patriot that day.
“Shortly before the police line was breached, Mault attempted to convince officers to stand down and join with the mob,” the DOJ announced. “At approximately 2:30 p.m., Mattice pulled down a segment of the metal barricades that stood in front of a police line. He quickly grabbed it with both hands, pulling it away from officers and onto the ground. A short time later, rioters overwhelmed the police line, forcing officers to retreat up a central staircase to the Lower West Terrace. Mattice and Mault were part of the group that assaulted the police line. They stood at or near the front of the group, pushing forward against the officers, who attempted to keep the rioters from advancing.”
Both men maced officers.

As opposed to lefty rioters all summer long tearing down barricades and throwing happy little bottles of warming flame at the officers.
Most of them were just processed and released.
Insurrection – good grief. On Jan 6th there were some rioters. They acted on their own – Trump never told anyone to assault the officers. They are being punished. Would be nice to see the Dems getting this upset about the rest of America having to deal with this shit.

Ah, the Dems new liar-boy rising to the national stage just so he can deny that he would ever, ever run for POTUS even if they nominated him!
“โHe did something that tipped me very directly, and that was going after the Special Olympics. I had an emotional response to that,โ Newsom told The Bee, his voice catching momentarily.”
Oh good – “his voice catching momentarily”.
Except DeSantis didn’t ‘go after’ the Special Olympics. He informed them of the rules in Florida that apply for everyone. DeSantis is not stopping anyone from masking if they want to. It’s called freedom. All Newsom has are lies.
“In the Florida ad, Newsom says โfreedom is under attack in your stateโ in reference to bans on books, voting restrictions and limitations on abortion.”
Bans on books? Really? Perhaps Newsom can give us the names of the books people in Florida are prohibited from purchasing. Liar.
Voting restrictions? You mean you can only vote once and you have to be a resident of Florida? And alive? Newsom gonna tell me there are no restrictions of any kind to voting in California? Liar.
Limitations on abortions? Not in good old California – you can have one in a bar or a school or any time you want. No restrictions whatever.
Liar.

Sacramento has a little over 5,000 homeless in the city limits living in vehicles and tents. That’s slightly higher than the 4,400 in San Francisco

Gun grabbing? –
“The FBI has absolutely no business poking around in the private information of those who have obtained a concealed carry permit in Missouri,” Schmitt said, according to a press release. “The Second Amendment rights of Missourians will absolutely not be infringed on my watch. I will use the full power of my Office to stop the FBI, which has become relentlessly politicized and has virtually no credibility, from illegally prying around in the personal information of Missouri gun owners.”
Schmitt outlined to Wray that under Missouri law it is illegal to share the confidential list with the federal government. The law was passed after “it became known that the Obama Administration wanted to know which Missourians had firearms, supposedly to establish who was entitled to federal benefits.”

Paul – “By the way it was Reagan who cut back on facilities for the mentally challenged.”
He was responding to court orders that allowed the mentally ill (‘challenged’ is a BS term) to treat the mental hospitals as come and go hotels with no ability to force the patients to take regular medications. The hospitals were just becoming expensive crash pads for the wackos. So he ordered them closed. They were no longer any good for anyone, other than the operators raking in millions. But lefties love to side with millionaire crooks who mouth the proper platitudes. Paul is a good example.

You reap what you sow oh great ponytail of ignorance @ 511 LOL
The fact is it was the ACLU and activist psychs that systematically shut down the mental institutions across the country and you are parroting an urban legend –
The records show that the politicians were dogged by the image and financial problems posed by the state hospitals and that the scientific and medical establishment sold Congress and the state legislatures a quick fix for a complicated problem that was bought sight unseen.
‘They’ve Gone Far, Too Far’
In California, for example, the number of patients in state mental hospitals reached a peak of 37,500 in 1959 when Edmund G. Brown was Governor, fell to 22,000 when Ronald Reagan attained that office in 1967, and continued to decline under his administration and that of his successor, Edmund G. Brown Jr. The senior Mr. Brown now expresses regret about the way the policy started and ultimately evolved. ”They’ve gone far, too far, in letting people out,” he said in an interview.
Dr. Robert H. Felix, who was then director of the National Institute of Mental Health and a major figure in the shift to community centers, says now on reflection: ”Many of those patients who left the state hospitals never should have done so. We psychiatrists saw too much of the old snake pit, saw too many people who shouldn’t have been there and we overreacted. The result is not what we intended, and perhaps we didn’t ask the questions that should have been asked when developing a new concept, but psychiatrists are human, too, and we tried our damnedest.”
Dr. John A. Talbott, president of the American Psychiatric Association, said, ”The psychiatrists involved in the policy making at that time certainly oversold community treatment, and our credibility today is probably damaged because of it.” He said the policies ”were based partly on wishful thinking, partly on the enormousness of the problem and the lack of a silver bullet to resolve it, then as now.”

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, whose own deputies sued him for permission to charge repeat offenders to the fullest extent of the law, has pulled out all the stops in his California Supreme Court appeal against them, retaining one of the nationโs top lawyers.
Neal K. Katyal, a former Acting U.S. Solicitor General who represented Al Gore in the 2000 election dispute and has appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court dozens of times, is also reportedly one of the countryโs highest-paid attorneys.
Reuters reported in May that the Georgetown law professor and partner at Hogan Lovells was charging as much as $2,465 an hour to represent a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson in a bankruptcy case. At the time, that was more than the $2,295 an hour former Attorney General Eric Holder was billing.

I love the usual idiot line of “Reagan closed the hospitals”.
Yes he did. And we all (except quislings like Paul) notice that in 50 years the Dems have done nothing to re-establish these paragons of mental health virtue. Why not? Apparently they’re just as bad as Reagan but somehow the lefty-parrots haven’t got the wit to notice.
Instead of admitting he has no idea of what he is talking about, Paul tries to dodge by asking what I would do about the problem.
The point Paul was trying to make was that Reagan is the source of our current problem with the mentally ILL and the dopers who litter our streets and neighborhoods.
Why don’t we ‘circle back’ to that point and settle it first?
Then we can talk about what to do now in the summer of 2022.

I will further add that in high school a very good friend of mine’s father was a doctor who transferred in 1969 to Napa at the state run hospital and was very familiar with the whole mess. He was a lefty Dem who hated Reagan but said later he had to admit that Reagan was correct to close the mental hospitals because they had become a racket soaking the tax payers and using many of the patients as sex toys, all the while doing little to no good for the patients as far as treating their mental health problems.
It’s a complex problem that requires a far greater reach of intellect than repeating idiot lines of “Reagan closed the hospitals”.
Those patients are not the ones out on the streets for decades. Pretty Boy Gavin claimed he would solve the problem in SF. How did that work out?
Total fail.
So we go back 1/2 a century to blame a Republican.
Pathetic.

So what solution do you propose Scott?

psfish 6:38 – Crab cakes at the Duke’s, not Matzoh Balls. I listened to Larry on KFBK for years on my 90 minute drive home at night.
I’ll never forget Larry bragging that the Niners would get their ass handed to them by Marino in the Super Bowl because Marino was a “FREAK”!
I just laughed. Larry hadn’t seen what a pass defense the Niners had in the secondary. He had nothing to throw to. Montana and Co. made mincemeat out of the Dolphins and Larry had little to say the next week about the game. King was intelligent and quick-witted but also a punk. He loved to act like he was on the side of the working class except for the creditors he stiffed when he filed for bankruptcy even after he had more than enough to make good on his debts. I listened for what the guests had to say – King was a loud mouth boor.

I see Paul is continuing to dodge.
Whut-a-bout…
Paul – you blamed Reagan for the current mess in CA and now you’re running away – like always.
Have you always been such a coward?

Our psul is a boor of a different stripe but I stand by the comparison. Not as successful, every bit as lazy!
