[I wonder if anyone is counting Biden's daily lies. And I'm talking only about material lies, the kind that affect our current or future QoL because they impact policy and legislation; and not political campaign or bombast promises that have not come true or have no chance of being realized. Examples are, 'Our borders are secure', 'Taxing something does not affect its supply/availability', 'Injecting excess cash (not supported by increased production) into an economy does not cause inflation'. I would like to see these lies, including their daily repeats, be tallied somewhere, mainly because these affect the beliefs of the lightly read population, especially before an election. gjr]

US Inflation Comes in Higher Than Expected as Food, Shelter Costs Surge
The U.S. annual inflation rate came in at 8.3 percent in August, higher than the market forecast of 8.1 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This is slightly down from the 8.5 percent reading in July.
The core inflation rate, which strips the volatile food and energy sectors, also advanced to 6.3 percent last month. This was also higher than the market expectation of 6.1 percent and up from 5.9 percent in July.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.1 percent, while the core CPI surged 0.6 percent.
Food and shelter costs contributed to the inflation numbers as they increased 11.4 percent and 6.2 percent, respectively, year-over-year.
The energy index eased to 23.8 percent, new vehicles surged 10.1 percent, used cars and trucks jumped 7.8 percent, and apparel edged up 5.1 percent.
Transportation services soared 11.3 percent and medical care services swelled 5.6 percent.
Within the food index, most items were up on both a year-over-year and month-over-month basis.

“Nuclear power capacity worldwide is increasing steadily, with about 55 reactors under construction.
Most reactors on order or planned are in the Asian region, though there are major plans for new units in Russia.
Significant further capacity is being created by plant upgrading.
Plant lifetime extension programmes are maintaining capacity, particularly in the USA.
Today there are about 440 nuclear power reactors operating in 32 countries plus Taiwan, with a combined capacity of about 390 GWe. In 2021 these provided 2653 TWh, about 10% of the world’s electricity.About 55 power reactors are currently being constructed in 15 countries, notably China, India, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.”

They best build those nukes quick because CA can’t even keep their 600, 000 or a million electric go carts (figures vary) charged up as it is.
Our central planners must be city folk. The very first time I read the New Raw Deal, it became immediately apparent that the authors were Easterner Urbanites and young. Take the train, the subway, no cars, no big ole jetliners. I have known adult persons from Chicago and Boston who separately moved out to California and never owned a car…in their mid thirties. Different mindset.
I look forward to catching the Greyhound driving down to Merced or there abouts where I park the car or get off the Greyhound. From there I will take the train to Buttonwillows then catch a bus over the Grapevine to some LA bus depot, then I guess I will hop on urban buses to get me to a suburb hub, then call a Uber to get to the wedding or funeral.
Or, I could just drive. Wonder how long the wait is at the rest stops to plug ‘er in. Oh, I have range stress already. Let’s retrofit every friggin home in America, including those treasures on Nob Hill.
I was right about the authors of the Green Raw Deal. AOC never read it before presenting it…which is why the cow fart capture caught her off guard. One of the Jacobins on staff put the cow fart part in. And have the Green Deal committee appointed by Congress (unelected committee) made up union reps and labor reps and indigenous people and anti-gentrification types to run the whole show. The crimes against nature and First Nations folk. Biggest supporters in the initial campaign were the yellow shirt clad Teenie Bobbers from the Sunshine School. Little missy Sunshine.
Their solution is a solution for those who do research on campus and take the campus or metro shuttle to your doctor’s appointment….when not riding everywhere on your bicycle.
BTW, shipping biomass from the slopes of North America to Europe seems like of inefficient to me. But, one of those Old Europe countries is fueled 18% by bio mass, so what to I know.
What I do know is it is just starting to dawn on Biden & Co that Europe is going to be in a world of hurt in just a few months and the clustergluck will look worse than someone beaten with the ugly stick.
How many nukes are planned for the Western USA?

BORDERING ON INSANITY
The Biden administration’s happy talk on border security is at least equal to it’s happy talk on inflation in its absurd denial of reality. I took a pass at Vice President Harris’s performance in her Meet the Press interview here on Monday. Media Research Center’s Tim Graham did better than I did in his comments on Sean Spicer’s Newsmax show (video below). Graham was joined in the segment by Ben Weingarten. MRC’s NewsBusters reports on the segment here.

“New information from the affidavit used in the FBI’s Mar-a-Lago search was revealed Tuesday.
Legal analysts said it suggested Trump approved a false statement by his lawyer.
The FBI is investigating Trump over his retention of top secret documents after leaving office.
New details from the affidavit used in the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago suggest that former President Donald Trump may have authorized a false statement his attorneys made to the DOJ, legal analysts said.
Experts zeroed in on a statement in the affidavit an attorney for Trump gave to investigators when they visited Mar-a-Lago to retrieve government records in June.
The details had previously been redacted, but were made public Tuesday on the order of a federal magistrate.
Investigators believe that Trump may have violated laws including the Espionage Act in holding onto the records, and also that Trump and his aides may have obstructed their investigation.”

It looks like all of the conservative journalists (both of them) are intent on returning to the office, but everyone else is complaining of Biden’s policies that have contributed to the soaring gasoline prices, increase in inflation, and…well, all the other policies that they themselves wanted Joe to do when they voted for him.

But Bill, don’t you realize that if an electric car is plugged during a power outage it is basically a dead outlet.
Now, don’t go off telling us of the all wonders and availability of places to recycle wind turbine blades. Glad CA is building the biggest battery in the world. Australia has spent years building the now former biggest battery in the world. Can run 37,000 homes….for maybe a couple of hours…more under optimal conditions…like the two tepid weather months.. But, they keep working on it. If they did that here, it would be a mega toxic waste Superfund site.
I ain’t worried about electric go-carts. There is not enough available raw materials to mine in the world to build enough electric cars for the USA, and the materials that do exist are being bought up by China in countries that have no environmental regulations.
Seems to me we are simply exporting the next environmental disasters to third world countries that do not look like us and let them keep the Superfund sites and pay for it themselves. Hey, where are we going to take the batteries to be recycled? Up on Sugar Loaf at the old airport? Not big enough.

What others are saying:
-Opening with “What a great, great crowd,” Biden may have succeeded in avoiding the utterance of a true statement in his entire spiel.
-It was an other-worldly scene, especially in view of the grim August numbers and the stock market’s tanking. James Taylor, who must be about as old as Biden, kicked off the party with a rendition of “Fire and Rain.” This led to considerable hilarity on Twitter.
-If Biden had thought more clearly, he might have realized that “Fire and Rain” is not exactly a party song. On the contrary. As I recall, it is a song about suicide. It is thus apt for a day on which billions of dollars of wealth are wiped out as a result of government fecklessness.

During a peak demand phase, not a power outage, grid tie solar, wind, generators, Tesla powerwalls, electric vehicles could provide reserve power.

‘California just hit 95% renewable energy. Will other states come along for the ride?’
Something remarkable happened over the weekend: California hit nearly 95% renewable energy.
“I’ll say it again: 95% renewables. For all the time we spend talking about how to reach 100% clean power, it sometimes seems like a faraway proposition, whether the timeframe is California’s 2045 target or President Biden’s more aggressive 2035 goal. But on Saturday just before 2:30 p.m., one of the world’s largest economies came within a stone’s throw of getting there.”
(Drumroll please, and now the caveats)
There are several caveats. For one thing, Saturday’s 94.5% figure — a record, as confirmed to me by the California Independent System Operator — was fleeting, lasting just four seconds. It was specific to the state’s main power grid, which covers four-fifths of California but doesn’t include Los Angeles, Sacramento and several other regions. It came at a time of year defined by abundant sunshine and relatively cool weather, meaning it’s easier for renewable power to do the job traditionally done by fossil fuels.
And fossil fuels actually were doing part of the job — more than the 94.5% figure might suggest. California was producing enough clean power to supply nearly 95% of its in-state needs, but it was also burning a bunch of natural gas and exporting electricity to its Western neighbors. It’s impossible to say exactly how much of the Golden State’s own supply was coming from renewables.
That said, what happened on Saturday is definitely a big deal”.

Four friggin seconds on a cool sunny windy day weekend with low industrial and commercial demand!! Oh yeah, that does not include tiny portions of the State like LA, Sacramento, and several other regions. Sad. Took longer to read the last sentence that four seconds. How absolutely fantabolous thrilling. My mangina is getting wet, just like Cardi B and Hillary and Chelsea’s.

Measure V is a SCAM. Nevada County will be using funds from the increased sales tax for pensions and salaries with no money earmarked for wildfire prevention.

Barry, given the fungibility of cold hard cash, I expect they can spend every penny on wildfire prevention matters, widely defined… but it guarantees not a penny from other revenue streams will be spent on wildfire issues.

Fully 78% of voters in a new Fox News national survey say inflation has caused them financial hardship
A year ago, 51% of voters said the Biden administration was competent and effective in managing the federal government. Today, only 38% feel the same way.
That 13-point decline comes from fewer independents (-21 points), Democrats (-13) and Republicans (-8) rating the White House as competent

Another mega threat to our Republic. In both the Russia-SpyGate scandal of the century and the current weaponized FBI scandal of the century the sequel….in both cases the DOJ had a deadline. In the first case, October. Oh Lisa Page was pestering McCabe to find up what the holdup was (it’s been six days!) in the National Security division (John Carlin) with signing off on the FISA warrant and in the second case they have to indict within 60 days. Chop, chop, like now people. Anyway….thou shall not bear false witness.

Ron DeSantis Flies Planes Full Of Illegal Immigrants To Martha’s Vineyard, Report Says
“Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis followed through Wednesday on a promise to send illegal immigrants to Democrat-controlled areas by sending two planes of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, a Massachusetts island, that is home to wealthy progressives like former President Barack Obama (D).
“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” an official for DeSantis’ office said in a statement. “States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country’ by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”

Hank Johnson is at it again –
A trip down memory lane for leftists that claim their side is sooooo intelligent:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cesSRfXqS1Q
You have to give Admiral Robert Willard full points for staying straight-faced and coming up with the reply of “we don’t anticipate that…”.
So, Hank is at it again with hallucinations of recent history:
“They occupied the Capitol. Five people were killed, hundreds injured, including hundreds of Capitol Hill police officers attacked and bludgeoned.”
Five people were killed?
The protesters and rioters killed no one, so apparently the police or the FBI killed 5 people.
Now he gets really warmed up and compares Jan 6th to school board meetings:
“And people on the local level at affected school board meetings they won’t forget the MAGA Republicans descending on their school board meetings after January 6. Like January 6, disrupting meetings,” Johnson said. “It was a quote coordinated attack happening across the country Americans won’t forget about it.”
MAGA Republicans “descending” on school board meetings?
Really?
Was this a HALO operation?
So your daughter is raped at school and you show up to protest the fact that the school tried to hush it up, and that makes you an “insurrectionist”?
Hank has no idea of what might happen if the Dems keep up with this shit. Of course Hank has no damn brains to begin with so there’s no use trying to communicate with him.

Of course the residents of Martha’s Vineyard are furious. Not just anyone can live there. Maybe those caring souls on Martha’s Vineyard with yard signs proclaiming ‘All Are Welcome Here’ can send the arrivals to a more downscale location like the Hamptons.

Rasmussen finds that most people approve of Governor Abbott’s shipping illegals to sanctuary cities like Chicago and Washington, D.C., by 52% to 36%. Those 36% are diehard Democrats who think it is fine for Texas to try to deal with one million aliens, but an outrage if a liberal city has to take on a few hundred.
