Tonight the FBI raided former President Trump’s Florida residence unannounced. This is an historical and unprecedented action which has horrible portents for our republic. I’ll have more to say about this, and so will RR readers who need a place to record their sentiments as this story develops over the next days. If there is no smoking gun produced by the DoJ in this case, then we have definitely transitioned into a political thugocracy.
” That question is that if all the documents that Trump had and has in his possession that were once classified and now unclassified does that mean they are available to the press journalists and everyday people under the FOIA?”
The answer to that Q is “No”.

At this point in time, the FBI inventory says 12 boxes or so of docs, files, folders and a letter from Obama. That tells us nothing. Zero, nada, zilch, a big round goose egg.
Thus, we know Jack Squat and Squat Diddley at this time in space and even less in this space in time. We do not know which docs were or were not classified. We do not know their contents or their numbers.
But, it’s so fun to speculate. Best one I read is Trump is loading up his boat with Nuclear Weapons Information and will be sailing out of Palm Beach into the ocean heading to Cuba undetected.
The answer to the VERY RELEVANT question is we are in uncharted waters as far a litigation goes. The vast unknown. The Supremes have never heard such a case.
What if…. So George, if If if Trump…..if Trump puts bread in the toaster and out comes toast, where did Trump hide the bread?

I kept hoping that Trump still has all the case files on all the agencies and all the names and e-mails and records of the whole kit and caboodle of those involved in the silent coup.
He had them alright. He has the goods on all the liars and they panicked bigly.
But, the FBI sent 30 armed agents, searched the joint, found what they needed (for National Security reason, of course) to reclaim and reclassify and got the files back.
Ah, you win some, you lose some. Pure speculation on my part.
I said many times during the appointment of Special Counsel Bob Mueller that Mueller’s job was to hide and bury the evidence for good this time so no one could ever find it, not to seek and present evidence….or Justice.

VDH was never held a government position or elected office as far as I can tell. He worked for a Standford think tank and wrote columns about the Great Divide. Yes, Victor Davis Hansen is known as a great military historian with few peers, focusing on WW2.
