a. Most of the internet is run by the Bureaucratic Industrial Complex
b. The internet is everything. It’s increasingly the substrate for all communications, cash flow etc.
So…you have to build your systems to be immune from Team Blue (or Team Red for that matter). In a moment, Amazon can cut you off from AWS, VISA can quit taking your phone calls, GoDaddy can boot you out the door. It’ll never be 100%, but it could be that thinking like a pirate website operator or Sci-Hub should be de rigeur. It’s a strong argument for crypto-currencies although I wish that one of them became a store of value rather than a speculation machine.

I’m very sorry to hear about Walt’s unfortunate medical news.

CNN has no shame. CNN analyst Juliette Kayyem suggested aggressive means to end the trucker protest in Canada on Thursday, including slashing tires. Although Kayyem’s idea appeared radical to some Twitter users, she doubled down on the tweet later.
“Trust me, I will not run out of ways to make this hurt: cancel their insurance; suspend their drivers’ licenses; prohibit any future regulatory certification for truckers, etc. Have we learned nothing? These things fester when there are no consequences,” Kayyem tweeted. Shouldn’t Twitter have shut her account due to her threat of violence?

And while some discussion of a potential convoy was taking place online, “we have no indication that individuals discussing participating in these activities in the United States are engaged in anything other than First Amendment-protected activity,” the DHS stated. “NONETHELESS (my capitals), DHS remains concerned that these events could have significant public safety implications or potentially be exploited by ideologically motivated actors to potentially act or encourage others to act violently.”
I guess they started to be concerned in 2022, forgetting about the BLM ‘protests’ of ’20-’21. Burning & looting must be First Amendment-protected activity.

According to the Illinois Rental Property Owners Association, the legislation would mandate that landlords participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Program, commonly referred to as the Section 8 program.
Section 8 is a federal rental assistance program for low income individuals whereby monthly rent is determined by income. Participation in the program is currently voluntary for landlords.
“The legislation will have the effect of mandating that a property owner enter into a non-negotiable contract with a unit of government, regardless if the property owner is willing to do so,” said Paul Arena, director of legislative affairs at the Illinois Rental Property Owners Association. “It is unreasonable to accuse a property owner who declines to accept such non-negotiable terms as having violated a person’s human rights. If a government program is not gaining sufficient participation, the solution is to correct objectionable elements of the program. There are remedies other than forced participation.”
The bill also effectively eliminates the use of an income threshold to qualify tenants, Arena said.

Here is a news item you probably didn’t get on OAN or Fox….Trump’s accounting firm from 2011 to 2020 cut ties with Trump Org. and had the following to say about it:
“We have come to this conclusion based, in part, upon the filings made by the New York Attorney General on January 18, 2022, our own investigation, and information received from internal and external sources. While we have not concluded that the various financial statements, as a whole, contain material discrepancies, based upon the totality of the circumstances, we believe our advice to you to no longer rely upon those financial statements is appropriate.” Basically, the accounting firm is washing their hands of the former president by claiming they acted in good faith based on information Trump gave them.
