” President Donald Trump’s campaign said Thursday that it raised $46 million in the last quarter of 2019 — The sum far exceeds what Democratic candidates…have reported.” Yes, more than any single individual Democratic candidate. Yahoo!
So what? There is only one republican candidate being allowed as some states won’t even have primaries. This will let the trump campaign ignore spending at the primary level while the Dem’s have to fight it out. You’ve got to love how the pubbers game the system. Sanders, Buttigieg, and Yang totaled over $75 million in the last quarter and that does not include Warren or any of the others. The opposition is raising way more money than Trumpler so don’t crow too loud.

Trump spent about half of what Clinton did on his way to the presidency

It’s not how long you make it, it’s how you make it long…..
“Here’s How Much Less Than Hillary Clinton Donald Trump Spent On the Election”
“Over the course of the primary and general elections, the Trump campaign raised about $340 million. That included $66 million that the billionaire businessman contributed from his own pocket. The Clinton campaign, which maintained a longer and more concerted fundraising focus, brought in about $581 million.”
“Clinton’s campaign placed a far greater emphasis than Trump on television advertising, a more traditional way of reaching swaths of voters. She spent $72 million on TV ads and about $16 million on internet ads in the final weeks.
The former secretary of state also spent more than $12 million on travel—about double what Trump spent. Clinton, who not only had a money advantage over Trump but a staffing edge, spent more than $4 million on a nearly 900-strong payroll.
Still, Clinton’s top campaign aides have acknowledged in postelection appearances that it didn’t always spend money in the right places.”

John Wolfe Jr. appears to be the main opposition.
I expect that the main competition in the (D) party that year involved a trip to “Man’s Country” with a bit of obeisance to the King. A bit undignified, but nothing new. No doubt it was as good for the job seekers as it was for him.
RobertC: “You’ve got to love how the pubbers game the system.”
‘Pubbers’. That sounds familiar, and practically unknown outside of these pages, aside from meaning a person who goes to bars of course. A quick googling:
Robert Cross, Todd Swallows, Jon Smith, Jon Dozer, “M”, and about 200 Paul Emery’s back to 2012.
Could it be?? Nah.

It is also worth noting that Hillary beat Obama in 2008 in the Dem popular vote after the Puerto Rico tally came in. In fact, she was going quite well in the closing days of the 2008 primary.
In fact in fact Bernie beat Hillary in several states which Hillary garnered more deluges than Bernie despite whooping her. Odd.
In fact in fact in fact Hillary won the popular vote in every race she entered, losing 2 out of 3.

If you meant 2012 it would be more comparable…
Here we have Bessee’s financial report…
President Donald Trump’s campaign said Thursday that it raised $46 million in the last quarter of 2019 and had $102.7 million on hand as the election year begins. The sum far exceeds what Democratic candidates…

Maybe you should explain what the situation was in 2016 and why the roles are reversed now…
—Bonus for Bessee—

The transcripts specifically raised the possibility that McCabe, now a paid CNN commentator, could face a false statements charge similar to the one leveled against former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The account of McCabe’s remarks was released by the Department of Justice (DOJ) inspector general (IG) because of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, D.C.
The IG concluded in 2018 that McCabe “lacked candor” when speaking to then-FBI Director James Comey and DOJ Oversight and Review (O&R) internal investigators about the leak to the Journal on May 9, 2017. In the transcripts, released Thursday, an unidentified O&R investigator asserted that McCabe had claimed “he did not grant anyone permission to divulge the information to the media” and that he “personally hadn’t shared the information” or “granted anyone else permission to.”

Those mutha mullahs just lost their terrorist in chief and head of all the proxy dogs that work for the mutha mullahs –
At least three rockets were fired at Baghdad International Airport Friday killing at least seven people, including Iranian Gen. Qassim Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, according to multiple reports early Friday.
Soleimani is the military mastermind whom Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had deemed equally as dangerous as Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was killed in a strike by U.S.-led forces in October.
Soleimani was the long-running leader of the elite intelligence wing called Quds Force – which itself has been a designated terror group since 2007, and is estimated to be 20,000 strong. Considered one of the most powerful men in Iran, he was routinely referred to as the “shadow commander” or “spymaster.”

“on at least one occasion while campaigning for president, Carter declared that, if elected, he would “make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and scientists.”
Then Carter screwed that pooch.. Hard and dry.
“There was one restriction, however, made by Carter, which turned out to be the “total” undoing of UFO openness the UFO community had hoped for. This restriction dealt with “protection of legitimate national security secrets.” These secrets included information about sensitive intelligence matters and Special Access Programs that were given the green light to continue as a result.”

Sixth, next time pro-Iranian militias attack U.S forces in Iraq we need to be prepared to punish Iran directly by hitting the Revolutionary Guards and its Quds Force. The U.S. is moving additional military forces into the region for protection of our forces to defend against militias directed by Tehran.

“Glacier National Park Quietly Removes Its “Gone By 2020” Signs.”
“Worldwide, glaciers have been shrinking steadily for the last 15,000 or so years. And it’s a good thing, too. 15,000 years ago, the place where I am typing this was buried under ice a half-mile to a mile deep. If the climate had not warmed and the glaciers receded, modern civilization would not have been possible.
But at some point during this past winter (as the visitor center was closed to the public), workers replaced the diorama’s ‘gone by 2020’ engraving with a new sign indicating the glaciers will disappear in “future generations.”
Future generations! That is safe. And it might even turn out to be true, if the trend of the last 15,000 years continues. Then again, the Earth is likely due for another Ice Age before too long. If that strikes, and temperatures drop rapidly as in past Ice Ages, all bets are off. It will be the biggest threat to human civilization ever, as one or two billion people will have to flee southward (and a much smaller number northward) in search of a warmer climate. There is no template for international cooperation on such a scale, and at best, the human race will be impoverished, and perhaps reduced to a pre-industrial standard of living.
But hey, keep worrying about global warming. That’s where the money is”

So richly deserved –
The Pentagon launched an airstrike Thursday night that killed a powerful Iranian military leader, Gen. Qassim Soleimani, at Baghdad’s international airport.
The Defense Department said it conducted the attack at President Donald Trump’s direction as a “defensive action” against Soleimani, who it said was planning further attacks on American diplomats and service members.
Soleimani is an extremely influential figure inside Iran, heading Iran’s elite Quds Force, part of the country’s hard-line paramilitary Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region,” the Defense Department said in a statement Thursday night. “General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more.”

A quick look at democraticunderground and dailykos tells me the hivemind sees the Soleimani as Trump starting a war for his own personal gain. Washington Post refers to him as ‘revered’, which tells you what the message is from that hallowed ground of journalism.
Might be a smart move, might not, although the guy sounds like he needed killin’.

On a slow news day and off thread, mastermind escapes have always intrigued me.

A musical escape? Hmmm. Anybody see Punchy lately? Speaking of our Community Asset, ever notice when the Emerian takes a break from here, Bobbie shows up? Like in the good old days, whenever Steve showed up, his puppet Jon would show up to defend Steve’s honor. So much so, I fondly nicknamed jon as Steve’s butt boy. But when Ms. Campbell had her meltdown during the public messy divorce, Jon took a long much needed hiatus from this tiny blog. Glad everything is back to normal…..except for the complaining about the US not on the metric system.

“Stanley was taken to a hospital for his injuries and later taken into custody at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond. He is charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and assault.
Sheriff’s Capt. Liz Scott said the deputies’ intervention may have saved Stanley’s life, the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star reported.”

@751 revered by jihadis and hated by his own people who had his boot on their neck! Ya like bagdadi, an austere cleric says the lamestream. LOL squared!
Citing a Revolutionary Guard statement, Iranian state television said Soleimani was “martyred” in an attack by U.S. helicopters near the airport, without elaborating.
U.S. President Donald Trump, who was vacationing on his estate in Palm Beach, Florida, but sent out a tweet of an American flag.

Scenes @ 7:36 pm
“So far as I can tell, the global warmingcooling folks simply want the weather to stay mild, and the same.”
Holy Toledo Scenes, you have nailed it! Such insight is too great for me…and you said it in such few words. Truly, I am not worthy of such a clear, concise, and complete response.
Goal! Like the little bear, this one is too hot, this one is too cold, but this one is just right. No extreme weather events, not too much rain, not too many hot days, and no tornados in Tornado Alley, not hurricanes in the Atlantic, and no flooding along the Missouri/Mississippi River drainage. And no surprises!!
Perhaps the Climate Change Blue Mob desires secure, safe, and predictably to life. Everything in its place and a place for everything. They don’t take unpredictability nor change well. Makes them freak out. Trump being elected in 2016 is exhibit A. Messed with their cheese big time.
This bed is too hard. This bed is too soft. But this bed is just right.
I don’t know why they freak out so. Obama once said this was the day that the sea levels would recede. Makes for good beachcombing, IMHO. To prove his point, the Obamas bought 30 acres of beachfront property. And I don’t see any of the Malibu movie stars moving to the high country.. What, me worry?

Exit question: is there one solitary soul reading this that actually believe we will be burnt toast in 12 years? That we only have 12 years to stop the Planet from becoming too hot or too cold? Anyone? Asking for a friend.

I must say, 2020 is off to a great start in the crazy department. First up, let’s show some Gretatude:
• BBC Faced Dilemma Over Flying to Sweden to Interview Greta Thunberg
“Everyone who travels to Sweden to interview Greta Thunberg faces the same dilemma. How do you reach her home in Stockholm without upsetting the queen of green by adding to the world’s carbon emissions? For the BBC, it was a particularly tricky decision, but its team ended up flying. “We did discuss that among ourselves,” confessed Sarah Sands, editor of Radio 4’s Today programme. “It felt awkward but we did not have the time for trains or boats.”
And no one has the time for this kind of media pretension either.

2020 is shaping up pretty good.
• Talk about deja vu all over again—I was sure this was an April Fool’s Day story, but no, it is in fact still just January 2:
Hillary Clinton Appointed Chancellor of Queen’s University, Belfast
“Hillary Clinton is to be the new chancellor of Queen’s University, Belfast (QUB). She is the university’s 11th chancellor and first woman to take up the post.
In a statement, Mrs Clinton said it was a “great privilege” to become the chancellor of QUB. She takes up her role immediately and will serve for a period of five years.
While the role of chancellor is mainly a ceremonial one, securing Mrs Clinton will be seen as a coup for Queen’s. The chancellor often presides at graduation ceremonies and is also an ambassador for the university abroad.
Last time I heard that a Clinton was chancellor of a university, it was when Bill Clinton was pulling down $18 million to be the “honorary chancellor” of Laureate International Universities, a consortium of for-profit institutions. No word about how much Hillary is being paid to be the QUP chancellor, but does anyone think she is doing it for free?”

,,,seems a little strange that this Iranian general, spiritual leader or whatever was free to come and go in Iraq if he is a terrorist leader…
,,,Did he have diplomatic immunity? He was on his way to the airport. Couldn’t he have been arrested there? They have security there.
Droning him does make for a big splash…
It will be interesting to see what Iranian revenge looks like…

Ilhan Omar Attacks Trump For Killing Top Iranian Terrorist, Promotes Conspiracy Theory
“Despite the statement from the Pentagon and the clear reasoning behind the attack, Omar responded by suggesting that Trump secretly carried out the strike to provide a “distraction” from the upcoming Senate impeachment trial.
Omar tweeted: “So what if Trump wants war, knows this leads to war and needs the distraction? Real question is, will those with congressional authority step in and stop him? I know I will.”
