[On the face of it I am not in favor of withdrawing US troops from Syria, especially viz the Kurds. My own long-stated Rebane Doctrine is that the US must continue its role as the world's white hat policeman (hegemon) using responses and methods that will evolve with needs and time. But before we continue hyper-ventilating on the withdrawal, can someone cite the exact parameters of Trump's withdrawal announcement – e.g. is it more than pulling a few tens of troops back from the 20-mile buffer zone? gjr]

It’s a rather strange, post-WWII concept of geopolitics. Stick some sacrificial troops right on some sort of border (Korea, Germany, Lebanon in a sense, various UN ‘peacekeeping’ missions) and dare the adversary to attack.
It seems to me that the US could stand to study Byzantine strategy and back off from this kind of thing but no doubt the Deep State knows what it’s doing. Great minds like that John Brennan character seem to have a special magic.
Personally, it’s hard for me to choose sides between Turks, Syria .gov, Kurds, or any of the other thousand groups in the area. Too complicated. Isis, having such bad juju, simply needs a Jonah’s Lift.
You know, it might be best to just think in terms of advantage to our own country, but by golly that doesn’t serve the purpose of removing Trump from office. Middle Eastern politics will be altered by the ongoing US coup, but the world travels in the wake of the God Emperor.

Everyone should remember during the 2016 campaign when Trump was accusing Hillary and the DNC of doing dirty tricks (which it turns out they were), he made some oblique reference about perhaps not accepting the upcoming election as honest and fair. The Dems immediately jumped on that and spent several weeks dunning Trump for even thinking about not accepting the people’s choice in November. Well, now they have spent almost three years not accepting the people’s choice in that November election, and the lamestream (along with our local leftwingers) have been struck by what looks like terminal amnesia about that little bit of history as they pursue the flimsiest case ever for impeachment.

South Korea is deploying snipers to the Demilitarised Zone with orders to shoot any wild boar that are seen in the buffer zone with North Korea before they can bring more cases of African swine fever into the South.
Sharpshooters from the military will be sent to the border on Tuesday, supported by civilian hunters and drones fitted with thermal imaging equipment to locate and track boar.
The cull will focus on areas to the north of Seoul and Incheon, where five wild boar have been found dead so far this month. All of the feral pigs have tested positive for African swine fever, which is highly contagious and has no cure. It does not affect humans.
The latest outbreak of the disease was reported in China in August last year and has spread in the intervening months. Cases have been reported in Mongolia and Vietnam, with North Korean authorities confirming a single outbreak at a farm near its border with China in May.
South Korean authorities offered to assist efforts in the North to contain and eradicate the virus, but were ignored. Pyongyang has made no announcements on further cases.
