Yes, the paper by Kauppinen & Malmi (physicists from Finland) indirectly supports the cosmoclimatological views of the usual suspects. I might dig out the previous papers where they derive the very low CO2 climate sensitivity, just .24C for a doubling.
That’s much less than Shaviv’s estimate of 1.25C, and very much less than the 2 to 4.5C for a doubling used on faith by the IPCC types.
Let’s just say that between the truly laughable 4.5C from delusional IPCC senior scientists and the 0.24C by the physicist Finns from the Univ. of Turku, I’d place a bet on the Finns. The minimum CO2 sensitivity required for the scary tipping points (positive feedback warming events) is 2 degrees for a doubling of CO2 and that isn’t happening in any paper whose authors are competent in thermal physics.

Looking at Watts’ wiki biography and looking at dates, Watts attended Purdue for a couple years and bailed for a broadcast job. In other words… after taking several semesters of hardcore mathematics, engineering and meteorology, he dropped out and took a job that would be easier than the paper chase and would pay him rather than the other way around.
There is Nothing wrong with the path Watts took and Pelline is ignoring the reality of Watts’ website… it
isn’t Watts pontificating about climate science, it’s Watts postings of science like the above from Kauppinen & Malmi.
Pelline still thinks that “engineering calculus” is the name of a class he took at Cal. He’s hopeless.

While I’ve a great deal of pride in the achievements my son has had in life, I can clearly say my answers to all of the ten questions are NO, and I suspect Jeff P can answer all of them in the affirmative.
His latest posting is a detailing of his kid’s summer camp where they pretend to be undergrad science students, listening to lectures from PhD’s but hobnobbing with high school teachers and the occasional undergrad. He quotes mostly from a newsletter sent to parents hoping their kids will get something out of the experience. Maybe a better chance of getting into the college of their parent’s choice.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled for the Trump administration Friday in a case concerning the withholding of federal funds for local policing from so-called sanctuary cities.
A three-judge panel of the court ruled 2–1 that the Justice Department could deny Community Oriented Policing Services grants to cities and states that have “sanctuary” policies prohibiting law-enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Los Angeles, a sanctuary city, sued the Justice Department when it was denied a $3 million grant under the administration’s policy. The Ninth Circuit’s ruling reversed the decision of a California court in that suit.
“The panel rejected Los Angeles’s argument that DOJ’s practice of giving additional consideration to applicants that choose to further the two specified federal goals violated the Constitution’s Spending Clause,” Judge Sandra Ikuta wrote for the majority. “The panel held that DOJ did not exceed its statutory authority in awarding bonus points to applicants that selected the illegal immigration focus area or that agreed to the Certification.”

Biden seems caught in a time warp; a relic from decades ago now forced to endure the social-justice mob of the 21st Century. We certainly can’t feel bad for him, since he and the Obama administration helped foment the current outrage culture by encouraging and supporting campus radicals (or, at the very least, doing nothing to teach them civility and sanity).
Biden has always been running afoul of current political correctness, but until recently, he was never held accountable by the same left-wing media that finds racist “dog whistles” in nearly everything Republicans say.
But Biden is now receiving that treatment. Biden, who speaks in a down-to-earth manner, sometimes says “c’mon man” to emphasize a point about something he finds ridiculous. Years ago, Internet feminist scolds informed us that saying “guys,” is sexist, and now Internet scolds have determined that “c’mon man” is also sexist.
Last week, New York Times opinion columnist Charles Blow took Biden to task for his “bro-iness,” writing that Biden used “a rhetorical device that men often use among themselves, in locker rooms and barbershops, to recognize, register and reinforce masculinity.”
Last Saturday, The Washington Post ran an entire article about Biden’s use of the phrase, claiming that it “can quickly signal dismissiveness, annoyance, sarcasm or a certain willingness to use words that seem gendered, none of which are sure winners for a candidate trying to attract voters.”
At least the Post noted what almost everyone except the most outraged few hear when Biden says “c’mon man” – that he is a “folksy” plainspoken politician trying to represent the “everyman.”

Epstein was a 20-year-old college dropout when hired at the school where it was said that teacher/student sexual relationships were treated with a wink and a nod. Epstein was hired by school headmaster Donald Barr. Yep, you guessed it. It was Ann Coulter back in the day sounding the alarms about Epstein and interviewing witnesses. She talked about how the Palm Beach Police working on the case were being followed by Epstein’s team, their families threatened, the State Attorney suddenly stopping taking calls from the police detectives and stopped issuing subpoenas. Oh, Ann was hot. But, she said one thing that always stuck with me since that time.

What the feeble minded forgot to mention is that the majority of the heroin entering the US comes across the Southern Border. Same with fentanyl. We have a heroin and opiate crisis going on domestically. The Heroin Opiate Crisis has been in the New for a couple of years now. The Opiate Overdose Crisis is taking too many of our young people. It’s tragic. It’s an epidemic, a National Epidemic. Devastates whole communities and is killing our children.
It’s not the ones who turn themselves waiting around wandering for the Border Patrol to pick their diseased bodies up, it’s the ones who avoid being catch breaking into our country that concern me most. There is a reason they don’t want to be caught. Them are the scum of the earth. They peddle death to our youth.

I am stuck by two things. What Ann Coulter railed about (Epstein and blackmail years ago) and the death of Andrew Breitbart, a man who helped The Huffington Post and The Drudge Report in their early stages before launching his own site. Anyway, everyone close to Andrew Breitbart said he was working on a big Pediphile scandal and had uncovered evidence until he collapsed from heart failure.

RockH 1200pm – Your point is well taken. However, walls have proven cost-effective to stop their transit by all manner of people and contraband. They continue to do so today all over the world. Just because most(?) of the drugs are imported surreptitiously by sea and legal entry points doesn’t mean that the remainder stopped by physical barriers should be ignored. But the main reason for ‘the wall’ is to stop the ease of border crossings by the thousands of illegals invited by our Democrats to come and enjoy America’s largess. Cutting down that traffic will save all the required billions to build and maintain such physical barriers.

Police said the man caused a vehicle to catch fire and that he attempted to ignite a large propane tank and set buildings on fire. Police said that besides the rifle, he had a satchel and flares.
Police said officers called out to the man, and shots were fired.
Cool said all four officers fired their weapons, but she didn’t have specific details of what took place. She said the officers weren’t wearing body cameras, but the area is covered by surveillance cameras from the detention center. She said she didn’t know if the man fired at the officers.
