“Trump Lied About Not Ordering Jared Kushner’s Top Security Clearance: Report
The president previously said he had no role in securing the top-secret clearance for his son-in-law.
“President Donald Trump ordered a top-secret security clearance be granted to Jared Kushner, his son-in-law and senior adviser, last May despite objections raised by intelligence and White House officials, four people familiar with the matter told The New York Times.
The Thursday report contradicts previous statements Trump made claiming he had no role in giving Kushner his clearance. Ivanka Trump, Kushner’s wife and a senior adviser to her father, reiterated that claim earlier this month.
Kushner lost his initial security clearance, which gave him access to some of the country’s most closely guarded secrets, last February after reports that he and others were operating with the clearance even though their background checks were not finished. It was restored to Kushner last May when the president overruled a decision by then-White House Counsel Don McGahn, the Times reported.
John Kelly, who was White House chief of staff at the time, was so infuriated by Trump’s demand that he wrote an internal memo stating he had been “ordered” to give Kushner the clearance, according to the Times’ sources.”

They name these peated whiskeys after chapter headings from The Island of Dr. Moreau. Very apt.
Lost Spirits are the folks who patented a supercharging of the aging process… weeks rather than decades. For about $40, they sell a very boggy Scotch that fooled my palate into thinking it was a 16 year old Lagavulin. They start with an Islay white lightning, unaged. They bring it to Los Angeles where they sell its soul to the devil and do the sciency ageing thing.
My son had a bottle of it in his pantry when I was visiting over the last weekend… very yummy. Cask strength, so a splash will do it justice.

House Republicans are driving Democrats crazy, and driving a major wedge through the majority party.
GOPers are using a garden-variety procedural tool to goad Democrats into taking challenging votes on the floor – and risking the defeat or alteration of legislation which is on the verge of passing.
The parliamentary gambit is called the “Motion to Recommit,” or MTR as it’s known in congressional shorthand. MTR’s must be “germane” and tied directly to the legislation at hand. In short, an MTR can’t deal with cats if the bill deals with dogs.
At the end of almost every debate, just before the House votes on most major legislation, the majority provides the minority a parliamentary option, which, depending on how it’s drafted, could either change or possibly kill bills. In its purest form, a MTR is just that: an effort to “recommit” legislation to committee, whisking it off the floor.

Can we say iPhone hunch with buds in? We had 4 self involved wanders at dusk today when we were shopping. Edibles/vape it the mix? Walk against the lights in GV furiously tapping the screen. Two at once at another intersection and then a dude in black doing a wander across the street without looking. OH ya then the 40 something dude doing doin’ a lame skateboard down the middle of the lane with headphones until he got honked repeatedly who was flipping off the little old lady.
Distracted driving and distracted walking are also widely believed to be factors, though experts say they are hard to prove.
