[CA fires continue to kill, destroy thousands of homes, and cost billions to contain. In the meantime prescription burns to reduce fuel loads are proscribed because of the potential of litigation costs from accidental or claimed damages from such burns. And police point out that mass shootings invariably occur in ‘gun-free zones’ where legal guns that could prevent/reduce deaths are banned. And the state’s housing shortage and high cost continue to be maintained by regulations and codes that cater to liberal governance dominated by the ecology epidemic. Insanity running rampant and on the rise. gjr]

Well the state legislatures gave seven chambers back to the deomcarts but still have a overwhelming number. And we have more governors, kept the Senate and lost the house by a smaller number than your boy Obama. So I would say we had a good night for a midterm.

That is an interesting thing, isn’t it? After a couple of years of insane ramblings by MSM talking heads, Blue Mob craziness, pussy hats, La Razans doing their thing, made up controversies about Russians, girlfriends, and other shocking news, it all came out about as usual.
Maybe the country as a whole isn’t as radical as the Blue Mob.

I note you didn’t touch my basic point… that by the vote for governor, AZ is more GOP overall than LaMalfa’s CA-1.

“Maybe the country as a whole isn’t as radical as the Blue Mob”
That’s a theme I have been kicking around. The country as a whole is nowhere as radical as the hooded (or screeching) Blue Mob, MSM, little offshoots like CNN and MSNBC, or The Dem leadership. That is a given. What I have not concluded as of yet is if the Democrat Party rank and file is as radical as those with the bullhorns.
“No blue wave, congress was just a historical average performance. ”
Yes, in this era of super charged hype and mass hysteria, normal looks like an aberration and an anomaly looks normal. Reagon packed up one Senate seat in the mid-terms and it took two years for him to,get the tax cuts through.

The Pubbers gotta watch it. The blues are sneaky and have pretty much taken over the West with Washington, Oregon, California , New Mexico and now Nevada and seepage into Arizona with a Senate flip. Nevada went solid Blue with the Senate, three out of four house seats and the Governorship going Dem. New Mexico solid blue taking House, Senate and Governor. So it’s apparent the Left Coast is expanding. Oregon went 4 out of 5 Dems in the House and they won the Governors race. Dems won 7 out of 10 House seats and Gov for Washington.

Correction to my 1:43 pm. Reagen did not pick up a Senate seat as i erroneously reported. At least this link says not since the 70’s has a President’s party lost the House and picked up seats in the Senate.
A thoroughly average mid-term:
After two years of “fire and fury,” “little rocket man,” Comey and the Mueller “witch hunt,” political violence, “fake news,” Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, a tax cut, an economic boom, the caravan, and “horse-face,” not much has changed. Trump’s 45 percent approval is about the same as his 46 percent of the popular vote in 2016. In the end, there probably will have been a five-point shift toward the Democrats in the national House vote, giving them their best result in ten years. This is a significant win, but also likely to be temporary. Two years after the Democratic highs of 2008, Republicans came back and won 52 percent of the House vote. As Morris Fiorina of the Hoover Institution reminds us: This is an era of unstable majorities…..
One other thing history teaches: Pundits will ignore history, over-interpret elections, and argue that the next election will be the one where we finally reinvent the political wheel in our closely divided, incredibly heterogenous, rich, grand, beautiful country.”

Breaking news! Montana re-elects its two term Senator for a third term.
“In Montana, Tester bucked that trend by winning reelection over Republican challenger Matt Rosendale by his largest margin ever, for the first time capturing 50 percent of the vote. In his victory speech Wednesday morning, Tester said he’ll take that mandate back to Washington and look for a bipartisan path through the muck in Congress.”
“I lost some good friends this cycle. (U.S. Sen.) Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), (U.S. Sen.) Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) were two of my best friends. But you move on. And I’m sure there’s some good people that are going to be coming in and I’m going to be able to meet over the next few months that we’ll be able to find common ground and we can work with,” he said.
Tester said he’ll rely on cross-party alliances, such as his relationships with Isakson [R-Georia] and Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, to move legislation. He told supporters Wednesday he was able to get 20 bills he either wrote or co-sponsored signed by Trump because of partnerships like that, and it can continue in 2019.

Generous but useless donations flood wildfire evacuation centers. Here’s what to send
When evacuation centers aiding California residents fleeing the rapacious Camp Fire put out a call for donations, people responded. And responded, and responded, and responded.
Now center coordinators are asking donors to stop sending supplies, reported The Redding Record-Searchlight.
“We have buildings full of stuff,” said Kathy Ingvoldsen at the Butte County Fairgrounds, according to the publication. “In four hours, we filled up a 5,000-square-foot building full of clothes. They’re stacked up on tables five feet high.”
Other well-meaning but misguided donors are inundating evacuation centers with used, unneeded or useless goods, reported The Redding Record-Searchlight.
“Cash donations and gift cards offer more flexibility,” Smith said, according to the publication. “Gift cards to places like Target or Walmart can help someone buy clothes or other items they might have left out of their go-bags.”
Gift cards for gas stations, supermarkets and pharmacies also can be useful for evacuees, said Stephanie Hayden, of Hope Center, which organizes donations in Oroville, California, reported The Redding Record-Searchlight.
Hayden said shelters do still need some specific items, such as new underclothes — particularly for women — backpacks, duffle bags and luggage, reported the publication.

Here’s an interesting piece that explains some of that 61%
https://quillette.com/2018/03/10/psychology-progressive-hostility/
“Haidt’s research echoes arguments made by Thomas Sowell in A Conflict of Visions and Steven Pinker in The Blank Slate. Both Sowell and Pinker contend that conservatives see an unfortunate world of moral trade-offs in which every moral judgment comes with costs that must be properly balanced. Progressives, on the other hand, seem to be blind to, or in denial about, these trade-offs, whether economic and social; theirs is a utopian or unconstrained vision, in which every moral grievance must be immediately extinguished until we have perfected society. This is why conservatives don’t tend to express the same emotional hostility as the Left; a deeper grasp of the world’s complexity has the effect of encouraging intellectual humility. The conservative hears the progressive’s latest demands and says, “I can see how you might come to that conclusion, but I think you’ve overlooked the following…” In contrast, the progressive hears the conservative and thinks, “I have no idea why you would believe that. You’re probably a racist.”

Do you have any evidence that Trump had consensual sexual relations with Stephanie Clifford in 2006? Any? Lay it out there for all to see. Details, we want details!
What is not in dispute is that a decade after the alleged dirty deed, one Stormy Daniels waited until October 2016 to drop an October Surprise on Trump and he directed his fixer to pay the gold digger what she wants. Gold digger.
I found Stormy more credible than those other accusers who came out of the woodwork saying Kavanaugh is a serial gang rapist, ROFLMA. Or that other one who wrote Willie Brown’s squeeze Senator Harris saying she was raped by Kavanaugh in a car. She omitted the fact that she is several decades older that the young Brett, lol. Only 3 have been forwarded to the DOJ for charges of lying to Congress. Sweet.
So, you can verify that Trump slept with Stormy? Or, because you say it then it must be true?.
51% on government assistance was a headliner in the news this morning. Guess you did not look…or chose not to. Big hugs and kisses.

Show me where I said Republicans are Nazi’s. You guys are very sensitive to that which makes me wonder. My concern for Todd is that he be unhappy here since he is part of a declining culture locally and Idaho may be more welcoming with it’s apparent open arms to Right Wingers of all kinds including Nazi’s and white power types.

You people are living in an alternate reality where your manufactured opinions somehow become truth.

Interesting Gregory, you didn’t come to my assistance when Todd called me a Communist. Shows where your inclinations are and that you have no principals to guide your emotional inclinations.
