[OK boys and girls, it's time to do exercises that "help our mental health the most" – and heaven knows we need a lot of help there these days.  I won't give away the punchline, but you can read all about it here.  gjr]

Apropos to Gregory’s 914am in the last sandbox, the Daily Caller reports the skyrocket rise of CCW permits across the land over the last ten years, and again confirms that national crime stats show CCW holders to be the most law-abiding citizens in America. Their misdemeanor and felony crime rates are one-sixth that of law enforcement officers, already a very law-abiding bunch. Now none of that makes no nevermind to progressives who purvey solutions to ‘gun violence’ by passing ever more laws and regulations designed to inhibit citizens’ 2nd Amendment rights.

This quote from Julie Kelly illustrates the problem,,,
”’I knew you would take the loss hard—and personally—since all of you were super jacked-up to elect the first woman president. But I did not imagine you would become totally deranged, attacking anyone who voted for Trump or supported his presidency as a racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic Nazi-sympathizer.”’
Wrong Julie!!! Non trumpers think Trump is ”’a racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic Nazi-sympathizer”’ she left off Putin groupie,,,but not necessarily people who voted for him…
Julie and like minded folk are wearing a ”red scarf”’,,, They think because the voted for the Orange Man that they must defend every trumpskism Dear Leader tweets from his gold plated thone high in Trump Tower.

Let’s see here. They can pass all the gun laws they wish. It don’t matter one lick because any and all gun laws do not apply to criminals. Criminals do not obey gun laws and they are the problem, not law abiding citizens, lol. That’s why they call them criminals. Law breakers. Not law adherents. They can pass all the immigration laws they wish. Does not apply to legal immigrants, just the illegals who don’t give a crap about the law. That’s why they are called illegals…not legal.
Gun laws only apply to law abiding citizens which are not the problem. Me thinks that Dougski is just upset that he cannot own a gun or get a concealed carry because it requires all applicants to check the box about drug use. Federal classification of drugs…dope. Wacky tobaccy users are not allowed to get guns. Dopers owning guns is against the law.

PaulE 1138am – The only thing we seem to be agreeing on is that CCW permits should continue to be awarded with no more requirements than those in effect today. As far as gun purchases, gun ownership, and gun usage is concerned, we haven’t reached any agreement. Your attempt to extend CCW requirements into those other gun rights areas is another one of your misbegotten gotchas that didn’t go anywhere.

Crickets sez: “Thanks for the verification that strict gun laws do work.”
It’s certainly an easy enough experiment to do. Simply look at adjoining states with similar demographics but different laws and see if they have different firearms murder rates (murder is best since there isn’t so much fudging in the numbers).
It’s not fair of course since I already know the answer to this question.

Gun laws. Think most of us can agree that Chicago has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. Yet we read about the upsetting gun deaths in Chicago every single Monday after another violent weekend. To be fair, the vast vat majority of all the gun deaths in Chicago occur in just 2-3 of the 21 districts that Chicago is broken into. So why just those 3 districts, precincts if you prefer? Cause those are crime infested areas where criminals prey on the vulnerable. Criminals always prey on the vulnerable. South side of ole Chicago and southwest side is where criminals prey on the innocent.
The agrument made by our enlightened ones is that guns used by criminals from into the crime infested areas from surrounding areas and states. Which, of course, begs the question why those other surrounding areas and states do not have the same shooting/ murder crime stats as as Chicago? Why doesn’t the other 18 or so precincts in Chicago have high homicide rates? Why are 7% or so of the murderers in Chicago are white? Why? Why? Why? Is it because gun was only apply to law abiding citizens and never criminals? Criminals, like illegal aliens, don’t follow no stinkin’ laws.

Paul – try to use your brain. It’s that grey mush you might have inside your cranium.
CCW permits don’t curb gun misuse. The folks who apply and receive them have already demonstrated lawful habits and gun safety. Hoodlums aren’t going to be bothered. Law breakers don’t follow the laws, Paul. And the vast majority of gun owners that don’t apply for a CCW permit are just as safe and law abiding as the ones with CCW permits. They just don’t have a need for a CCW permit or know they won’t get one in the state they live in. Owning and possessing a fire arm is a Constitutional right, Paul. Unless the state can proactively prove I should forfeit that right because of a felony or other law breaking, with a right to due process then I shouldn’t have to apply to the govt for any reason to exercise my rights.

Restricting the rest of the country’s 2A rights to people who only qualify for a CCW (different requirements in different states) is only logical for those who are working to confiscate guns from all non-govt types.
My preference is the other way around, starting with Chicago. Make it a test city and allow all Chicagoans to have the right to carry concealed weapons and pass a strongly written ‘stand your ground’ ordinance. The bad guys and crazies already do, so the only ones added would be the law-abiding folks who would give the bad guys something more to think about before they initiate gun violence. And if it works in Chicago, spread to a couple more cities like Baltimore and St Louis.

Wonder why guns are back from the recycle bin? The decision in Hawaii concerning the right to bear arms means the right to bearing arms outside ones home? No, probably not. The recent decision affirming the right to concealed carry at a university in Georgia? No, that was more of a technicality than anything because of the crazy Georgia laws did not the grant the professors or the university the legal authority to sue in that case. A jurisdiction definition. Was it the gun control initiative with 360,000 signatures that was tossed out by a judge in WA because the print was too small and did not specify exactly how it would affect existing gun laws? Again, just a technicality. Is it because school is back in session?? No, probably not. It’s usually pretty quiet the first week back.
Must be because after gun deaths in Chicago went down in 2017, everybody thought the issue was being solved and walked away. Looks like 2017 was an one-off in the Windy City. Or maybe with Omarosa being dropped like a hot rock from CNN (appearances suddenly cancelled across the board) the ole standbys are the best they got. Who knows what evil lurches in the minds of men?
Or maybe if pot smokers can’t own guns, then nobody should have guns. Pure speculation.

“Antifa protesters at a “Patriot Prayer” event in Seattle, Washington, demanded police shut down the speech of peaceful right-wing protesters Saturday.
Multiple members of Antifa un-ironically told KTTH’s Jason Rantz that they wanted police officers — who they called “fascists” — to shut down the Patriot Prayer rally. Others wondered why the right-wing group was granted a permit to protest in the first place.”

Looks like its going to be Justice Kavanaugh for sure –
The New York Times added to the list when it published a recent story on how internal emails show Kavanaugh “helped the [Bush] administration’s effort to win Senate confirmation for one of Mr. Bush’s most disputed judicial nominees,” despite testifying in 2006 that nominee Charles W. Pickering Sr. “was not one of the judicial nominees that I was primarily handling.”
The piece reflected Democratic questions of whether Kavanaugh had misled the Senate.
However, National Review’s David French contacted Pickering, who said the Times did not try to contact him before its report and, further, he didn’t remember interacting with Kavanaugh even once during his confirmation fight.
He said in a statement: “While I worked with attorneys in the White House Counsel’s office, I cannot recall a single interaction with Brett Kavanaugh about my judicial nomination. I do not even remember knowing his name at the time. His 2006 testimony is accurate.”
The Daily Wire published a story mocking the Times for the report, writing sarcastically that “they really” got Kavanaugh this time.
“Combine this with his purchase of baseball tickets and love of beer and they might just take this guy down,” the column said.

No, no, the problem I was told [with the author posting his appearance on Cavuto], was in the “crawler of words along the bottom of the video.” It was a quote of Trump declaring that the Robert Mueller investigation was a “witch hunt.” This was apparently hate speech.
Last month Facebook determined that my public page, with 184,000 followers, is a “political page.” None of my colleagues or other historians are so penalized. I suppose it’s because I post my Fox television appearances. My appearances on CNN should be okay, however. And my appearances on CBS? Well, the chart that Google promotes says CBS tacks slightly to the right but it is close enough to the middle to probably be safe.
