Dunno if they aided Trump in particular, so ‘no’. Russia is a complicated place and there’s a lot more to it than you’ll read on the half dozen op-ed websites you get your information from. There are different power groups there and their collective minds would change over time.
(Short version. There isn’t just some guy named ‘Putin’ moving a few chess pieces).
For sure they nudged the election a bit in random ways. Every country in the world does a little of that. The US does far more of it to others. I can’t say that Iran appreciated (or appreciates) it.
It’s laughable that you think you’ve made some point here. It’s like arguing with a high school student.

Time for the truth; “We’ve been in a trade war for a long time, but we weren’t participating,”
To understand why the United States and China stand on the brink of a trade war, consider the near-death experience of American Superconductor Corp.
The company, known as AMSC and based in Massachusetts, was reeling after a Chinese partner stole its technology — the electronic brains that run wind turbines. The loss was devastating: AMSC’s stock shed $1 billion in value, and the company cut 700 jobs, more than half its workforce.
“Attempted corporate homicide” is what CEO Daniel McGahn called it. In January, its Chinese partner, Sinovel Wind Group, was convicted in a U.S. court of stealing AMSC’s trade secrets.
To the Trump administration, Sinovel’s predatory practices are hardly isolated. Beijing, it charges, is orchestrating a brass-knuckles campaign to supplant U.S. technological dominance and over the next few decades make Chinese companies global leaders in such fields as robotics and electric vehicles.
According to a report by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Beijing’s tactics include coercing American companies to hand over trade secrets in return for access to the Chinese market; forcing U.S. businesses to license technology in China on unfavorable terms; using state funds to buy up American technology; and sometimes outright theft.
Critics have long asserted that China runs roughshod over intellectual property rights. But President Donald Trump, who ran for the White House on a vow to force China to reform its trade policies, is the first U.S. leader to risk a trade war between the world’s two biggest economies.
“We’ve been in a trade war for a long time, but we weren’t participating,” said Richard Ellings, president of the National Bureau of Asian Research. “We’ve awakened. … This is a fundamental change. It’s a historic moment.”

“So Scenes, George you disagree with the Senate Intel conclusions that the Russians interfered with our election”
Yes and no. I never detected a strong pro-Trump angle, and I keep track of a lot of Russian media. Also, remember how much money (millions of dollars) went to the Clintons from Russian sources over the years.
Of course, it’s fairly laughable that a major point in those reports (you have read them, haven’t you?) involve state-subsidized Russian TV and ‘bias’ it might show. The difference between that and the BBC eludes me.
My short answer is that various forces in Russia had an interest in the outcome of the election towards both sides, it’s mostly a muddle of Russian TV reporting plus a few media buys and social network pushes, it didn’t amount to much and was a completely normal amount from a large power standpoint, and it was trivial compared to Israel, Mexico, and the Arab states.
That Senate report is merely a reference to a nothingburger that is simply an attempt to both beat the war drums and to continue a contested 2016 election.
It’s worth considering that you are playing into Russian hands. Maybe the real game the Russians are playing is to cause internal dissension in the US by encouraging questioning of the election results.
Do you think that’s true Paul? Yes or No? Are you a Russian agent?

One quick thing on the Russians.
The strongest (practically only, really) case to be made against them is hacking the DNC. I haven’t seen a bit of proof and don’t really trust the Obama-loyalist investigators, but it’s always possible that the allegation reflects some form of reality.
If true, it’s worth thinking about whether you consider them enemy combatants or as a form of vigilante whistleblower. Really, does it matter where your whistleblowers hail from?
Exposing the DNC as being in the election fixing business and something of a criminal enterprise really does have value. God knows what really went on in the Clinton campaign, it’s likely they’d all go to jail if it ever came out.
Funny thing. All that chicanery beaten by a guy with superb public speaking skills and the ability to manipulate MSM. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

“We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U.S . presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the U.S. democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump,” the document reads.

What a great day…for most. But, then again, there is always the glum lot.
“Liberals are never comfortable with displays of American patriotism, so Independence Day is particularly awkward for them. Everybody likes cold beer, hot dogs and fireworks, but the militarism and U.S. imperialism and corporate greed and … as Broadly assistant editor Leila Ettachfini declares, “America has always been bad, no matter who the president is or was.”
But if you are planning a party be sure to “look at your guest list” because “if it’s homogenous in race, gender, and/or sexuality” you should “question why.” Because nothing is more American than inviting someone because of their race to meet party quotas.

“So Scenes is the Republican majority Senate Intel Committee led by Obama-loyalist investigators?”
You sure ask a lot of questions while answering few.
Assuming you actually have read any of this.
    The moneyshot:
“The Committee finds that the Intelligence Community met President Obama’s tasking and that the ICA is a sound intelligence product. ”
They weren’t the investigators, they merely read someone else’s redacted report plus the odd bit of testimony.
A better question “So Scenes is the Republican majority Senate Intel Committee led by Obama-loyalist senators?”
I would say mostly, yes. But that’s a different issue. Obama and most of the Senate appear to share significantly common interests. The voters are nudging the politicians over time.
In the meantime, there’s been something of a grassroots takeover of the Republicans going on and I can’t say where it’s going to lead.
So, as to my question. Is it likely that the fuss about Russian collusion is itself a form of Russian disinformation? More properly, ‘дезинформа́ция’. That you, Paul, are doing the Russians dirty work in terms of sowing dissent within the country?
Yes or No? Why do you think that?
Honestly, I’m going to have to quit responding to you if you don’t ever provide the other side of an argument or conversation. I admit that doing the Russians work might be the perfect 4th of July activity for the crack KVMR news desk.

re PaulE 858am – Even the mildly astute reader will note that Mr Emery has not and cannot present one shred of evidence that the Russians influenced anything to do with the 2016 election – the man simply can’t get past equating attempt with achievement. However, Mr scenes 924am does pose a cogent point as to how the nation’s progressives and socialists (including PaulE) have fallen in line to sow exactly what they claim are Putin’s seeds.
