Cal-3Cal-3 is going to be on the November ballot. WaPo reports that “On Tuesday, the California secretary of state confirmed in a memo that Draper’s Cal-3 campaign attained enough valid signatures to earn a spot on the ballot Nov. 6. After more than 150 years of failed partition proposals, California voters will finally go to the polls to decide whether they want to relinquish their monopoly of the Pacific coast and become three new states.”  Venture capitalist Tim Draper’s old plan to cut California into six more ideologically cohesive pieces has been slimmed down with some apparent success.  No matter its fate at the polls, the proposition confirms again what RR has maintained over the years while vehemently being denied by the state’s Left – especially our lightly read locals.  People do want their voices heard by their government, and people do want to live with others whose values and mores are more than less like theirs.  Such existential diversity is anathema to the one-size-fits-all Left.

The Left’s campaign to enlarge national dumbth gets a boost from NYC’s mayor deBlasio reports Jason Riley in ‘The Attack on Educational Excellence’.  deBlasio wants schools with entrance test requirements, for which Hispanics and blacks are historically poorly prepared, to revert to the racial quota system, all in the name of “diversity”.  “In the upside-down thinking of affirmative-action advocates, academically rigorous schools should be more focused on achieving racial balance and less focused on maintaining high standards. Asian displays of academic excellence therefore become problematic. Asians are somehow to blame for outperforming others, and they are to be punished for the historical injustices that blacks suffered at the hands of whites.”  Occam’s rationale for deBlasio’s call to eliminate entrance tests is simply that ignorant minorities are easier to keep disgruntled on the plantation where their attitudes and votes can be readily manipulated.

Trump in Singapore.  Well, it turns out that it was really the media experts who were expecting a single-shot breakthrough at this week’s summit.  Leading up, they blamed Trump for expecting too much from the meeting, while Trump was telling the world not to expect much more than it would be the “potential” beginning of conversations which no other world leader had been able to launch with the North Korean dictators, while allowing them to become an ever bigger danger to world peace.  Now the Monday morning quarterbacks are decrying the President for not walking out with a definitive world-shaking treaty that in one swell foop rid the Ugly Fat Kid of his nuclear capability and made him into a well-behaved leader enjoying a recent epiphany on human rights.  Demonstrating that their Trump Derangement Syndrome knows no bounds, these self-pumped pinhead pundits are now manufacturing hypotheticals about all kinds of imagined bad things yet-to-come, and getting a jump on criticizing the President for those.  (Here is an example from the auto-profound Council on Foreign Relations.  The myriad pronouncements on the lamestream are too silly and stupid to even consider.)  Meanwhile, Trump continues to tell all that the process has just started, and no one has given away anything to anyone – i.e. going forward we will trust AND verify.

[14jun18 update]  The 500-page DoJ’s IG report on Hillary’s email server investigation has apparently been seen by select eyes only, and is promised to be made public later today.  From early and conflicting reports by sources such as AG Sessions, Rep Trey Gowdy, and the WSJ, it is unclear what kind of political bias IG Horowitz found or did not find.  The congressman concludes what most of us witnessed over the last two years, that the FBI’s treatment of Hillary and Trump have been profoundly asymmetrical.  Yet the WSJ reports, ‘DOJ Watchdog’s Clinton Report Finds Mistakes by Comey, No Political Bias’.  We can hardly wait to discover what kind of hoops the IG had to jump through to come to that conclusion.  An early and perhaps premature assessment is that the Deep State is fully engaged in defending itself.

[later]  Well, the 568-page hernia pack is now out for all to read, and it’s a doozer (download pdf here).  The report documents in exhaustive detail the prima facie bias expressed throughout the months of the FBI’s investigation of both the Trump and Clinton campaigns.  It hauls Comey, Lynch, McCabe, Strzok, and others over the coals, and then, and then, … FBI Director Christopher Wrey goes in front of the cameras this afternoon and does a reprise of Comey’s 5jul16 bullshit performance exonerating Hillary.  Wray goes through the exact same arguments of the damning evidence the IG’s investigation uncovered, and then announces a jaw-dropping conclusion that there was no hint of political bias shown by the investigators or during the course of the investigation – simply unbelievable how the man could keep a straight face delivering that copy.

Wray’s message essentially acknowledged that the FBI screwed up from start to end, and “we’ll hold people accountable”, but the organization itself remains as untainted as ever and was not harmed by at least 18 months of continued incompetence and blatant documented bias.  Somehow screwing up the biggest investigation the FBI has had in decades should make no never mind in the minds of Americans.

More revealing were the sober, detailed, and very frank assessments delivered by House chairmen Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) on Bret Baier’s FN Special Report.  Both men were incredulous of the way that the Deep State was now defending itself.  It’s worth watching this exchange here on YouTube.

I’m surprised that all the major coastal population centers, SF and San Diego included, aren’t lumped into “California”. The lawsuits alone will take years to resolve!

CA-3? Screw that noise. We want nothing to do with the shithole City by the Bay or their ideas. This just gives the wet brains move control over us.
Coming to Nevada County sooner or later…..from the Shithole City by the Bay.
If you were of the Frisco Values mindset and lived in the Human Feces Strewn City AND you had a choice of taxing commercial landlords a 460% increase in gross receipts and a 1,000% increase, which one would you choose? You know, gross receipts not net. Decisions, decisions. Answer is: Progressives Values win!!
“Diego Aguilar-Canabal of the Bay City Beacon predicts a loss for Prop D given its supermajority requirement and its failure to attract the support of the business community. That leaves Prop C as the likely winner. Should that analysis prove correct, San Franciscians would be stuck with the worst of two bad options.”

re JeffP 1154am – And here we have an excellent example of a liberal with blinders who has no idea of what is the proportion of voters in the county, which is where I live. The other half of the county’s population is simply invisible to him.
BTW, in reporting on Cal-3 I don’t mean to imply that I’m automatically in favor of the drawn boundaries, only that segmenting the state is meant to provide a result that is more responsive to voter preferences. But retaining the collectivist cesspools of SF and Sac in NorCal will do little to give the more conservetarian Californians a robust choice on where to live.

Opps. It was NYC, not DC and 82 not 83. Me wrong.
On June 12, 1982, one million people demonstrated in New York City’s Central Park against nuclear weapons and for an end to the cold war arms race. It was, and is, the largest anti-nuclear protest and the largest political demonstration in American history.[6][7] International Day of Nuclear Disarmament protests were held on June 20, 1983 at 50 sites across the United States.[8][9] In 1986, hundreds of people walked from Los Angeles to Washington DC in the Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament.[10] There were many Nevada Desert Experience protests and peace camps at the Nevada Test Site during the 1980s and 1990s.[11][12]

After just one 5-hour meeting, Trump has declared peace for our time, stating that North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat based on…what, exactly? Trump was the only one who made any concessions, throwing South Korea overboard by pledging to end joint military exercises.

GeorgeB 123pm – Is there a citation you can give us on that declaration? First, NK has no capability to deliver nukes anywhere. Second, even if they did, NK would be no more of a nuclear threat than China or Russia. And we most certainly are not telling the world that they are threats to world peace.
What might escape you (and yours) in this sequence of meetings is that Trump has to play the UFK so that he understands that his personal survival depends on achieving a feasible ‘soft landing’ from NK’s precarious perch that he inherited from his dad and grandpappy. And that playing ball with the US under this president is his big chance. Now that shouldn’t be too hard to grok if you just thought about it a bit.

As far as splitting up CA into 3, none of us have a say in the matter. 70% of the population lives in those coastal cesspools of Democrat run cities. Heck, SF has cops that go around and check your trash cans to see if there are any recyclables in there. If they find one plastic water bottle, get out your checkbook. They love power. They are power mad. And that is a tiny very mild example of their power mad control freak ways, barely worth mentioning.
All that red on a CA map makes up only 30% of the population. So, none of us have a say. They can do as they please with us, which is exactly how the Progressives like it. And they like it bunches and bunches.
And, as has been recorded here, the crazy ones here like the Fat Ugly Enporium wants Dr. Rebane barred from KVMR during “his” newshour, stricken from the pages of the Union, and his like minded fellows driven from our parks. And telling a merchant to tear down a Gator Jerkey sign from the inside windows of the Bonanza Market. And that is what is considered middle of the road in the liberal California mindset, lol
None of us has a say. Our votes TRULY do not matter in the Land of Make Believe. Now, if they can only get rid of the Constitution, the playground would be complete.

Any dead folks were probably doomed for the high jump prior to the meeting. Heck, remember what happened to male heirs under the Ottomans (now called Our Good Friends the Turks).

Since you have no memory I am re posting these numbers that show the blue tilt in Nevada County goes beyond registration numbers and is actually reflected in votes. Here you go again:
Nevada County is a solid blue county as reflected in last weeks election. More votes will be counted but in most races the Dems have solid leads. In partisan races the Dems outpolled the Pubs in the following elections:
    District 1 House
    District 4 House
    Governor
    Sec of State
    Treasurer
    Attorney General
    Board of Equalization
    Senate
    Controller
The only major race that the Pubs lead in is Brian Dahle Assembly

BillT 608pm – Mr Tozer, Nevada County’s population has never been above 100,000, and is now just below that number. For more, please google ‘Nevada County population’.
PaulE 344pm – Trump is selling the UFK by putting NK into the same category as Russia and China for as long as NK proceeds toward denuclearization. (What did you want him to do upon return, start bad-mouthing the UFK and shut off all future talks by telling everyone that nothing has changed? Please get a grip.) Trump’s pronouncement has instant reversibility should NK turn obviously belligerent again – this seems to be lost on liberals. Now China and Russia really are nuclear threats inhibited by MAD. Why do you think we tacitly believe that NK would not be equally deterred were they to get an equivalent nuclear capability.
And in the final analysis, note that NK has demonstrated no nuclear missile capability, let alone firing one that can reach the continental US. They have exploded non-weaponized nuclear devices underground, and they have fired some intermediate range missiles into the west Pacific. But that is a long way from developing a deployable nuclear warhead that is compact enough deliver and which will survive both launch and re-entry.

Since you show no memory or shame, I’m reposting my reply to your earlier screed:
No, Paul, the county is clearly Purple… about half and half. About.
Gavin Newsom (D) was indeed the leader with a plurality of 34.8% in his race. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers for Governator were Cox (R) at 25.4%, Allen (R) at 18.3%, and Chiang (D) at 6.3%… do the arithmetic. But statewide, there will only be Newsom and Cox on the ballot.
Let’s give a round of polite applause for Zoltan Istvan, who volunteered to be a known loser for the Libertarian Party’s sacrificial lamb to the top-two ballot designed to insure 3rd parties will remain out of the picture, not to mention a 2nd party (the GOP for example) that doesn’t force out folks the party elite don’t want to muddy the Primary waters.
LaMalfa buried the competition within Nevada County, 45.0% to the distant 2nd, Denney, at 18.3%, the two who will be on the November ballot. Funny how you rate Newsom as a clear winner in the county with 10.2% less of the vote than LaMalfa got.
And that’s BEFORE the Janus decision that is expected to decimate Democratic Party cash flow in California.

Are you all still brain dead? He will never say he is wrong. Ever. “Mistaken, can’t remember saying that”…that’s all you will get, and that is a seldom occurrence.
Besides, the day after Trump won and Hillary was sobering up, we had this conservation. Punchy says the county is blue, blue, blue. I win, everybody is wrong. I win!
Well, by all means, try it again expecting different results. Maybe it’s time the Logan Act cycles back around. ;). Or Trumps gloves. LBJ gave a better disaster speech! Obama got 1 million at his inauguration and only 7 missed work! Liar! Trump is a liar!
Liar! Too funny. Ah, don’t pay me no mind. Just running with ya. Gregory, go play with him all you want.
