The issue behind that cultural appropriation is that it did accurately describe the tactic you were using. Unfortunately, George performed a forfeit by mocking you in an Amos and Andy voice.

I lost an uncle to a gun accident Gregory. He was my mothers brother and died when he was 13 playing with a gun he found in a ditch. Don’t say I don’t care about the kids. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

I did to Paul, and it was NO ACCIDENT. A criminal shot my Uncle with his own gun. My Uncle was a cop So pardon me if I don’t see a problem with cops offing a few thugs here or there.
So who didn’t tell him not to play with guns? At 13 I knew how to safely handle a firearm. So who is really to blame? Can’t blame the gun.(but you will try) The guy that lost it? The goon that through it out the car window? Or the person that didn’t teach their kid right?
My own kids learned at 7 or 8 what a gun was, and not to mess with them. Now they can shoot better than me.(almost)

An uncle who died when, Paul? 1910? Long before you were born? Playing with a gun he found in a ditch?
About that time a very young uncle of mine died as a result of a routine tonsillectomy. Minor and routine surgery my ass, one of the reasons I never had one despite my tonsils being in tatters from repeated infections… my mom didn’t believe in them.
Family stories notwithstanding, I don’t think you care about the kids you’re using as props here any more than anyone else here, Paul. If you did you would have discussed the issues not just thrown out 1300 over and over.

It sounds like the po’ ol’ fakenewsmans’s uncle was in need of a gun safety class. Gun in a ditch eh’ sounds like a criminal dumped the gun your unwise uncle became a statistic with. Walt is right about early gun safety. I first learned gun safety around 7 or 8 and went on to target shooting and taught some specialized small arms in the military to sign qualification cards as an additional duty. There is one final point that will always come up and that is you can not fix stupid in some people and you never will. Like the lady with a baby in the truck running late on 49 who recently cause a big wreck by passing in the turn lane repeatedly. Anything that has the human X factor in the mix will always have errors in the mix, even if its only a tiny part of a percent.

Good to see Paul posting here again. He clearly shows the classic example of left wing idiocy. 1300 ‘children’ dead from gun shot wounds. What to do? First of all he wilfully ignores the details involving most of the situations of these tragedies by simply calling it ‘finesse’. He supplies 2 examples (in one example no one is killed) and neither example would have been stopped by any sort of new law he can come up with. And since he is mocked for his lack of reasoning, he offers up the classic left-wing line of defence that since we don’t agree with him about how to solve the problem, we must not care about it.
Paul claims he was in the military but clearly has no understanding of fire arms. They don’t just ‘go off twice’ Paul. Somebody pulled the trigger twice.
Look Paul, if you want to reduce the number of folks 17 and under being killed by fire arms the first thing you do is study the issue by looking at the facts of the matter. It’s not ‘finesse’ – it’s doing the hard work of looking at all of the different situations and going after the main causes. I’m sorry your uncle was killed, but clearly this shouldn’t cloud your brain so badly you can’t come up with rational preventative measures. The NRA has gun safety information for kids that they aren’t allowed to bring to schools. But clearly that doesn’t stop kids from bringing guns to school. My money says that home life for the child involved is way dysfunctional and there is almost certainly drug use going on in that house.

from the report that Paul cited – “Fifty-three percent of these were homicides (n = 693), 38% were suicides (n = 493), and 6% were unintentional firearm deaths (n = 82); the remaining 3% were due to legal intervention (n = 9) and deaths of undetermined intent (n = 19).”
So it looks like Paul is sooooo worried about children being shot dead, he wants to pass laws that might have to do with a whopping 6% of the total.
    What a complete phoney.

“It’s not ‘finesse’ – it’s doing the hard work of looking at all of the different situations and going after the main causes.”
You noticed that dodge, did you?
Paul’s solution to the problem is to wave a magic wand and make a list of the serial numbers of all, what, 200 million guns in the US and the current owners, not to keep the guns out of the hands of kids but to enable the cops to find them after the fact to charge someone with some sort of negligence. He may think he wasn’t waving a magic wand but he obviously did not give any thought as to what it would take to create a usable registration list and the number of folks who would have had no criminal a act or record until they chose to not register their gun(s) in defiance of Paul and Company.
Taking the 6% being unintentional, and maybe 10% chance the firearm in question is on the list of registered weapons Paul wants… and it’s about a half percent chance the list would do any good at all for the purpose Paul was hoping for.
Gun laws are not the province of medical doctors, especially pediatricians. Guns are not an infectious disease. This is the province of statisticians, politics and the law.

I remember once Michele Obama was almost in tears talking about the shootings of children. The incident involved some “children” who were shot. “The children” she said all choked up. The “children” were caught. All 18 year olds. Members of a gang. Yep, the children afraid to walk to school.
I remember the black and white police video cam of Muzzoo’s Professor Melissa Gluck screaming profanities at cops when LE was telling the protesters to get on the curb, out of the street. She was surrounded by big black students, presumably some from the footfall team judging by their size. She screamed “Keep your hands off the children!, get your f**king hands off the children!” The video showed no hands were place on the “children” as they complied with the order to get out of the street and on the curb.
I remember the UC Santa Barbara (“Professor Sex” as affectionally dubbed by her students) assualted some young 17-19 year old females for quietly passing out Pro-Life pamphlets to students…with permission from a small free speech zone. The enraged professor was later charged with assault and convicted of something. She (at the time) defended her actions by matter-of- factly stating the obvious, she was defending “the children”. The children were her students and they need to be protected from anti-abortion leaflets. Whether the children are 17 or 23, it matters not to our protectors of “the children”, Meses Michelle, Melissa, or Professor Porn.
Gun murders of children? Yes, a deeply disturbing issue. Young gays and lesbos (14-17 year olds) have a higher suicide rate than both the general population and their age group. Gays, and especially tranny babies/lesbians have a higher suicide than the general population, especially in the 18-24 age bracket. How many of these “children” put a muzzle in their mouths and pulled the trigger? Some of the 1300, I assume.

Fakenews or just plain old non-news? Or, a look into the progressive mind.
1)Normally I leave First Ladies alone, except undocumented felons like Hillary. But, when they inject themselves into the political area, all bets are off.
Michelle Obama said that any woman who did not for Hillary voted against their voice. Hmmm. I believe Michelle voted against Hillary in 2008, but I could be wrong.
2). Now Dr. Seuss books are under attack…..selectively. Must be that White Supremist thang.
“A librarian at Cambridgeport Elementary School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, rejected Melania Trump’s donation of Dr. Seuss books this week, citing illustrations that are “steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes” while also citing how the school is properly funded and also offering criticism of the Trump administration’s controversial Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.”
“The first lady’s efforts mirrored actions performed by Michelle Obama, who was known to read Dr. Seuss books to young children. Melania Trump has read the famed author’s books at educational events for children, including a reading in March of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.”

This is what Secretary Betsy Devos said on Aug 17, in the aftermath of Charlottesville. No mincing words.
“Last weekend’s tragic and unthinkable events in Charlottesville were wholly unacceptable. The views of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and other racist bigots are totally abhorrent to the American ideal. We all have a role to play in rejecting views that pit one group of people against another. Such views are cowardly, hateful and just plain wrong.”

I’ve not closely followed the current discussion of Paul Emery’s gun registration plan. Please forgive me if I am being redundant.
Paul favors firearm registration so that, in his own words, “… the owners of guns who carelessly make them available to children can be held responsible if anyone is injured or killed.” He accuses those who disagree of lacking concern for the deaths of children. A problem that I have with this is that Paul’s registration plan does nothing to prevent those deaths. I am not the least bit surprised that he would stand on children’s graves to advance his anti-Second Amendment agenda.
I do hope that Paul will remember that I answered the question he used to begin this discussion and perhaps he will be inspired to respond to questions asked of him.

I remember when my son attended Hennessey School circa 1995, my wife, Teri came home from volunteering one day with the observation that Dr. Seuss (Soysss or Sooose?) wasn’t to be found in the classrooms, just gathering dust in the library. Not because The Cat in the Hat was racist but because all the nonsense words that were the mainstay of the master of kid’s books were gibberish to whole language instruction sans phonics. Sounding out words was not an approved reading strategy.

Speaking of schools, the simplest and most effective way to reduce child gun deaths would be to REQUIRE that ALL CHILDREN receive basic gun safety education in school. Locally, prior to the 1990’s many of the local elementary asked the GVPD to come to the classrooms and do exactly that. It is now no longer encouraged or probably even allowed, due to anti-gun bias in education. I wonder if Paul Emery would be a champion of that gun law?

Funny how LIB ideas change over time. There was a time (Late 80’s to mid mid 90’s??) There were those teachers wanting kids to rat out their parents who might be smoking dope. (today,, they would like it if those same kids took dope to school)
So there is a new “rat out your parent” program. “If Mommy or Daddy
have a gun, tell the teacher”. Just to have a cop show up to see if they are legally compliant.
