[I was perusing RR's hoary past to note the constant torrent of comments predicting the assured and imminent demise of the Republican Party for this or that outrage according to our tireless local progressives. I also note that no one from the Right has been foolish enough to predict the Democrats' demise for doing some really dumb things over the last decade of these pages. So does that mean that there is no learning taking place on the Left (my favorite hypothesis), or do these adamant worthies subscribe to and unabashedly place their hope on the unfortunate truth that it is possible to fool most of the people most of the time? (This is my own observation over the decades that completes the standard shibboleth 'You can fool some people all the time, and all people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.' Well, you don't have to; fooling most people most of the time works out quite well as confirmed by most astute observers.) gjr]

Thank Dr. for the fresh kitty litter. Let me start this new show on the local level.
Now that free ECO bucks to fight a plan to reopen a rich gold deposit right here will be harder to come by, chances are better our Idaho Maryland Mine can bring jobs, GOOD jobs, back here.
The mines here didn’t close because the gold played out. Thank the FED government for that. One, they fixed the price of gold, and two, only war metals were to be extracted.
Like togston. So when the war was over, the GOV. left us high and dry, and out of work.
Then the ECO pricks showed up and killed of the logging industry.

In regard to Dr. Rebane’s introduction to the fresh Sandbox, this quote puts it perspective.
“Success is never final; failure is never fatal; the only thing that counts is courage.
I have always looked at Trump and our counterrevolution to the Altl-left’s ongoing Revolution as merely slowing it down by throwing a couple roadblocks in the way. I still think the overall trajectory is toward Statism, Stalinism, Maoism, or Islamofacism.
With that said, another quote:
“To anger a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell him the truth. — Teddy Roosevelt
Locally, the Great Divide is alive and well. The progressive snowflakes promise us that their liberal Mayberry RFD will be solid Blue in two years. Mark the tape!

This looked fishy to me; after all, that Roosevelt was a “Progressive” before it became a euphemism for democratic Socialist.

We all have heard that LIBS with full diapers wants Ca. to become it’s own country.
With that said, if it does, LIBS will never win another election nationally. Just say’n.
On another note, Gov. Moonbat has declared war on the Trump Admin. Good luck with that.
So Jerry and his kids is looking for ways NOT to send money to the FED Gov. That loos lie a fight they will lose. But it will be fun to watch. Calif. officials getting hauled away in cuffs on FED charges. Lets set up the bleachers on the West lawn of the state capital, and sell tickets.

Good one. Tells me my gut is working cause I wanted to delete the Teddy Roosevelt from the copy and paste, but I hit post too quickly. Told myself to, but noooo. The first quote I did take the time to research back to a dentist in 1912 or so, with parts of it dating back further. Churchill and Buckley quoted the first quote, all or in part. All that to say I got lazy on the second quote and hit send. Did not sound like Teddy to put things as left/right. Agreed. Still, the TR quote stands on its merit, regardless on the source, as our running dialogues with those stuck on stupid….er…stuck in the bubble with testify.

Walt, I hope CA splits off. I will gladly move on. We have something like 12% of the population and 30% of the entire nation’s welfare recipients. They can have their liberal playground. Heard Brown is raising the gas tax again, this time 42% to cover…..drumroll please….pension shortages. One of these days a gas tax will go for fixing the roads. With CA’s expansion of Medi-Cal, CA will have to pay 100% of the costs instead of the current 90%. When they split off into the ocean. Opps, CA Medi-Cal budget is already in the hole a billion this year. That is with the 15 billion Uncle Sam already paid for the year.
CA welcomes illegals with open arms. We see the guy out working here as a painter or landscaper. That’s cool. But, what about his wife and baby waiting at home drawing food stamps and entitlements? Let’ CA breakoff and reimburse the Feds for their share of building our freeways before driving on them. Oh, Californians will need a VISA to visit Tahoe National Park or Reno. Best built a wall around the former state to keep all the rift-raff out. It’s for National Security.
We have idiots running this state. Remember, only 3 more years until we have to meet our 1990 carbon footprint.

The federal judge from the eastern district of NY who was appointed by 0 last year agrees with you Walt. It is a narrow stay only applying to the visa holders. It does nothing to the rest of the immigrations executive order. You can bet DOJ or Homeland lawyers are already shopping for a venue to file their appeal that has a high likelihood of winning. ๐

It was well discussed on this blog that Trump does not represent tne Republican party but a 3rd Party movement. I believe that it was Bill that led that discussion so yes, Trump does represent the end of the Republican party as we have known it .
Re Don 3:19 When I referred to a movement to the blue in Nevada County that I have never seen before I’ll use as examples the 60-40 defeat of Measure W, the landslide win of Heidi Hall over a respectable and qualified candidate Duane Strauser, the
Win of Clinton over Trump in Nevada County and the win of Measure 64.

“Does this entry ban from the 7 countries also include Christian refuges ?”
I believe so, not that it makes much difference to them. From Newsweek:
“But the numbers tell a different story: The United States has accepted 10,801 Syrian refugees, of whom 56 are Christian. Not 56 percent; 56 total, out of 10,801. That is to say, one-half of 1 percent. The BBC says that 10 percent of all Syrians are Christian, which would mean 2.2 million Christians.”

As far as I can tell, yes on the ban applying to all from the 7 countries, including one Christian being held.
All from the 7 countries, including those with green cards and Visas trying to enter. There are exceptions for NATO employees, foreign gov’t personnel, UN personnel, and those vital to our national security interests. Far as I can tell, there are about 200 in question who were in flight or boarded a flight after the temporary moratorium was imposed. Some foreign airports did not get the word or started rejecting those boarding planes from the 7 named countries hours after the ban. Thus the confusion.
Those here before the temp ban do not have to leave. A glitch in the plan, affecting those caught between one door open and another door closing. To repeat, this temp ban applies to all non US citizens from 7 countries, including those of all faiths and those who have no faith. Country of origin is the operating phrase.

“Under Trump’s order, it had appeared that an untold number of foreign-born U.S. residents now traveling outside the U.S. could be stuck overseas for at least 90 days even though they held permanent residency “green cards” or other visas. However, an official with the Department of Homeland Security said Saturday night that no green-card holders from the seven countries cited in Trump’s order had been prevented from entering the U.S”
Well, I am confused now about green card holders. Just those with Visas? Think I will wait a couple of days for more clarity.
Why don’t the refugees go to Germany? It’s closer. Looks like there is some confusion among Germany’s new refugees as well.

PaulE 906pm – a little application of reason quickly shows that anyone starting a third party does not mean that an existing party then automatically folds its tent as stated in your 728pm. And whether Trump winds up starting a third party or not is a totally separate discussion. I consider it a highly unlikely event, but a discussion of its harbingers would be of interest.
Finally, my thoughts on our political landscape populated by more than two dominant parties is well documented in these pages and hashed over even more.
