Ok, ban those little airline bottles of booze because low lives don’t know how to pick up after themselves?? That is insane. Now everyone has to suffer because of these scum. Ban the little bottles? I would love to see a bunch of goons go in and bust some heads of those POS.. Now, before y’all get up in arms, this is not anti-homeless or anti-liquor, or even anti-firebug. No, my #1 pet peeve is and always has been litter bugs. Geeze, everywhere a litterbug goes, they leave trash. Everywhere, every place, everytime they go anywhere. They have zero problem carrying crap in, but they have a major problem carrying their mess out. It’s disgusting. We need to go down to those homeless camps with baseball bats and bust some heads and arms and hands if they continue to leave their trash scattered about.
This is a hot button issue. When are the cops going to start writing citations for littering? I feel the same way about illegals crossing the desert. The scum leave piles of plastic everywhere. Cite them for littering instead of banning plastic water bottles. Where are the environmentalists on this issue? It’s ok to house and feed them and even say hi in passing, but for Pete’s Sake, fine the crap out of them for leaving their litter everywhere. Fine them. No carrying out trash, no food or shelter. If a man will not clean up his trash left on other people’s property, then that man should not eat. It’s the first step to reintegration into society. Why give them a bag of food or a bag of clothes knowing full well they will toss them about on our streets, highways, waterways, and property for anyone but them to pick up. This madness must stop. Littering carries a $500 fine and up to 6 months in jail, does it not? Stop enabling criminal behavior! Chop their friggin hands off and shove their litter down their throats. I hate litterbugs.
Ban little bottles of liquor? No! Ban litterbugs from society after one warning. Time to bust some noggins and form some good vigilante groups. Time to get to the root of the problem and rid society of this scrounge. Do it for our furry friends and save the planet.

Where the heck do you think you live?
This isn’t that country that promises equality under the law.
No sir. The laws are now enforced according to what sub-section of humanity you qualify for.
If you violently occupy a govt facility they have to first determine what sub-group you’re in before they figure out how to treat you.
Conservative, tax paying, white men are at the bottom and you get points for any deviation from that base line going up to left wing female hysterical sex pervert of a certain class of skin color depending on the time of the day and the phase of the moon.
If you or I were to litter, it would be one thing, but we have to take into account diversity and so forth, so some folks can camp anywhere (it’s their Constitutional Right) and strew crap all over the place (any left wing protest comes to mind) but you and I have to follow the rules.
My wife and I were threatened with a citation for camping in the Tahoe Natl Forest at an established (by the USFS) camping area complete with a fire ring and picnic table and levelled tent pad.
No explanation nor any reason nor would they show us where we could camp despite my calm and polite inquiry.
Freaking NAZIs. But some folks can just sleep and crap anywhere as is their birthright as Americans. No one has been able to square this me, nor will they even try.
Some animals, it seems, are more equal than other animals.

In response, we await the progressive equivocation claiming that those practitioners of the religion of peace were merely practicing their culture, or better, that what they do is no different from what other migrants do to citizens of their host countries.

Re: Radical Islamic Rapists, I say cut off their dicks, Sharia law style.
Pretty sure there are non- Muslims (who are not terrorists) here in the good ol’ USA that have gang raped women. Attacking someone in a wheelchair seems especially heinous to me – hence the penilectomy.

BECAUSE SCIENCE…….

There’s no shortage of warnings from the scientific community that science as we know it is being drastically affected by the commercial and institutional pressure to publish papers in high-profile journals – and now a new simulation shows that deteroriation actually happening.
To draw attention to the way good scientists are pressured into publishing bad science (read: sensational and surprising results), researchers in the US developed a computer model to simulate what happens when scientists compete for academic prestige and jobs.
In the model, devised by researchers at the University of California, Merced, all the simulated lab groups they put in these scenarios were honest – they didn’t intentionally cheat or fudge results.
But they received greater rewards if they published ‘novel’ findings – as happens in the real world. They also had to expend greater effort to be rigorous in their methods – which would improve the quality of their research, but lower their academic output.
“The result: Over time, effort decreased to its minimum value, and the rate of false discoveries skyrocketed,” lead researcher Paul Smaldino explains in The Conversation.
And what’s more, the model suggests that the ‘bad’ (if you will) scientists who take shortcuts in relation to the incentives on offer will end up passing on their methods to the next generation of scientists who work in their lab, creating in effect an evolutionary conundrum that the study authors call “the natural selection of bad science”.
“As long as the incentives are in place that reward publishing novel, surprising results, often and in high-visibility journals above other, more nuanced aspects of science, shoddy practices that maximise one’s ability to do so will run rampant,” Smaldino told Hannah Devlin at The Guardian.

Another article on how man-made global warming is responsible for more forest fires. Page A-5 in the Union. Of course once you get past the headline you read what a load of crap it is. All participants are from colleges and funded by the government. And you can see hos they are stretching the “facts”. No peer reviews of course and no input from others who could give lternative opinions. The computer models these people us are not vetted. They do give passing prefernce to the fact that most of the forests that burn are Forest Service lands. And perhaps the fact man has “managed” those forests by mostly suppressing the fires over time has led to fuels ready to burn. Further research needed and to do that these leeches in the public sector need more tax money/grants.

The non denial denial being trotted out is that they do not recognize the produced documents. Not that they are fabricated… a lie… I didn’t write that.
No, I don’t recognize the document. Kind of like how the NY Times refused to recognize the ClimateGate emails because they were stolen, and they didn’t deal in stolen private information (even though the evidence points to the climategate data dump being made public by an insider who was disgusted with the double dealing). However, when faced with a stolen tax return of Trump’s, they compounded the Federal felony by whoever stole the return by publishing the stolen tax information.
Double standards. Mr. Pink apparently does share something with the “journalists” at the NY Times.

fish 1024am – The unfortunately abbreviated spelling did not grace the print edition 😉 In any case, I don’t see what all the fuss is about since “cuntry” is a more phonetic and compact spelling than adding the extra ‘o’ into country. The practiced reader already knows how American English omits the superfluous ‘u’s and appended ‘e’s from British English. I continue this effort by showing my bias in promoting the migration of English toward a more efficient lexicon that does not compromise meaning.

Russ, while that physicist did generate a mathematical model that fits the sun’s behavior in the modern era, they didn’t “discover” the Sun’s lessened energy as of late.
Using the model she’s forecast a reduction in the sun’s energy (only some of which is thermal) and in a century who knows, she might be featured in solar physics texts as the first one who got it right.
Let me put my Trump cap on and mention she is one of the best looking physicists I’ve seen, and I’ve been around a lot of past, present and future physicists.

“I didn’t wade thru that whole tongue bath of an article but it’s pretty obvious where this is headed: more, and more fecund, prole-class Arab Muslims for Canada. Most will be net tax consumers. Some will be Islamic militants. Most will be frustrated in a cold, white, high-trust country with lots of taxes and regulation (which they will ignore). They will recreate the social structures of the old country with the transfer payments from their new one. Canadians who ask, how much is this going to take will learn the answer: everything you offer, then they’ll ask for more, then they’ll vote it for themselves. It will all end in tears.

Stop to consider that your hard earned dollars also go to pay the bloated salaries of bankers and insurance company execs who routinely screw the public. Their multimillion dollar salaries and perks are totally acceptable while public employees are scorned for wanting to make a reasonable living serving the public.

Poor JoKe….still feeling unappreciated after all these years. Rather interested to know why if JoKe truly thinks that Trump has “Dodged” taxes he hasn’t been prosecuted?

fish 1148am – Thank you Mr fish. The dumbth that pervades about public service employees is that progressives believe govt workers deliver equal value to that generated by those in the private sector who create the nation’s wealth. They are blind to the fact that these people in the aggregate have marginal abilities, no compelling work ethic, and get paid and pensioned through a process that at best may be called aggravated blackmail. Doggedly following insane work rules in a lockstep CYA manner while imposing irresponsible regulations on taxpayers does not constitute a commendable work ethic. After all, there is a reason why most of them work for the employer of last resort.

Even funnier than “Joe Koyote” (assumed to be Joe Keeble, who has taught “communications” at Sierra College) is Jeffie himself, who came up with this gem after Frisch opined that Nevada City salaries were low and they might have a problem with staff retention:
“Again, the issue is not so much the costs — it is the revenue to cover the costs in light of ongoing demographics with 3,500 population. Is it sustainable?”
Not so much the costs? To quote the Sheriff of Rock Ridge, “Well, Raise my Rent!”.
Jeff, it’s obvious that residents and business owners within the city limits aren’t paying enough. It’s a revenue problem, not City Spending Gone Wild!
To Keeble, your diatribe about Trump misses the point… while Trump’s massive loss carried forward certainly would have eased his Federal Income Tax bill for years, it doesn’t necessarily forgive state and local income taxes (NY/NYC has its own rules) and it also doesn’t forgive property taxes owed, and THAT is what primarily pays for schools and local bureaucrats.
Communications, teaching those with the least to say to say it well.
I doubt anything can happen to fix California’s massive unfunded liabilities save a good bankruptcy of all cities, counties and the State itself that are Bankrupt Entities Spending, but to keep Nevada City coffers from going dry, I’d suggest an automatic increase in local property tax rates in order to keep Nevada City salaries and pensions on track. Keep the best and the brightest in charge of the city!
