When you shoot yourself in a foot that you’ve already stuck in your mouth, there’s a good chance you’ll blow your head off.

Today California and five other states render their verdicts in the presidential primaries.  And what boggles my mind are the choices that I and other Americans are presented by the country’s major political parties.  One is a lying, thieving, corrupt crook with no demonstrated skills in statecraft.  And the other is an egomaniac with the demonstrated communication skills of an irritated 3rd grader on the school playground, also with no demonstrated skills in statecraft.

VotingParaphernaliaThe shrill progressive candidate promises to deliver a Clintonesque version of Obama 3.0 (complete with expanded services the Clinton Foundation can then offer to world leaders and corporatists) while continuing to usher the US on a path to domestic autocracy and failed European socialism cum globalism.  While correctly pointing out why Americans are disgusted with government, the haircut confuses objectives with plans to achieve said objectives with ‘Just trust me to make America great again.’  But sporting a world-class diaphanous skin, this TV star can easily be pulled off message by any real or imagined slight to his inflated persona.  And there we see him today taking aim at guess which foot.

So what to do?  Vote for the surefire crook and lying progressive without a resume, or the braggart who has at least demonstrated he can manage companies and make money in the market place.  The problem is that all the world’s bad guys know that Hillary is a corrupt hockey puck, but they know nothing about and are more than apprehensive of the guy with the loud mouth.  Given these considerations, and that The Donald will be more inclined to work with Congress and surround himself with smart people (which, save Gates, Obama couldn’t for eight years), we firmly affixed nose clamps and voted for Trump.

[8jun16 update]  Congratulations are in order to Ms Heidi Hall for her successful campaign to become Nevada County’s newest Supervisor.  And if the lady remains true to her ideological heritage, then condolences are also in order for our county.  In any event, Duane Strawser showed us all that a lackadaisical approach to elective office will not work, especially for a newcomer going against a handsome, experienced, and energetic opponent.  And that doubly so when about a third of your supportive constituents sit on their collective ass instead of getting up the gumption to vote.

Add Ms Hall’s victory to the debate on Measure W and its downfall yesterday, and it becomes clear why our sheriff and the current BoS wanted to constrain the latitude of future supervisors in crafting ordinances about MJ production in our county.  While I was not in favor of legislating the county’s MJ production rules through popular initiatives, I remain supportive to the concerns and predicted impact that outdoor grows have on our quality of life and local economy.  The new BoS will now have a go at reshaping ‘emergency’ Ordinance 2405.

From a higher vantage our Republicans really don’t have a leg to stand on as they lament the spread of progressivism into the hinterlands.  If they cannot make a suitable (palatable?) case for the Right-thinking grass roots to vote, then we all will suffer from America’s current blight of rampant collectivism as we recall the history of socialism unopposed.  It was ever thus.

Gregory, maybe you can tell us why “Truckee Center government types” would be voting for someone in District 1? Last time I checked, Truckee is the opposite side of the County, 75 minutes away…
    Thanks. 🙂

Because they’re both of a “type” and not necessarily actual voters in that voting district.

    Well, why even vote?
Gomez said he wanted to register his displeasure with Clinton, “even if it doesn’t really count.” The Mexico native has concerns about Sanders’ record on immigration, in particular his vote against a 2007 immigration reform bill in the Senate, but he was even more uneasy with Clinton. He described her as someone “who only says what people want to hear.”
It was a theme echoed by voters entering polling places across the state. Uneasiness with Clinton seemed to rule the morning, reminding her campaign that even on this celebratory day, the party that Clinton has been chosen to lead remains deeply fractured amid concerns about her trustworthiness, her ties to Wall Street and, of course, her email server.

Well, Bubba was right. Bernie Bros can have their fun, but they are scorched. Figured the Libbies didn’t have gonads to take down the Clinton Political Machine, which dwarfs the DNC in size and power. They tired, I will give them that. Tough road to hoe, unless you have some like Citizen Trump leading the way.

For the reality challenged… folks who work in the government centers tend towards the left. Sure, the Heidi early voters probably are at the Rude center but I’d not bet against one or more District 1 folks working in Truckee for one reason or another.

George: 5:43 — ” there are no congressional investigations that have concluded that Hillary didn’t lie” and none that concluded that she did lie. You are arguing a false negative. On your quotes from “one” committee; where those quotes from the findings or were they a congress person’s comments? No where in those quotes was Hillary Clinton’s name mentioned. None of the committees found any wrong doing, plain and simple, foot dragging or not. You continue to grasp straws to support your ideological rather than logical observations on Benghazi. You want Hillary to be guilty so she is.
Selective perception: true story told to me by an eye witness. A man was being arrested for molesting his 7 year old daughter. The man’s mother was there yelling and screaming at the police officers making the arrest. Finally, the perpetrator grabbed his mother, looked her in the face and confessed to the molestation. The mother looked at him and said, “don’t lie to me.” Because in her world her son didn’t molest her granddaughter, so she simple refused to believe it really happened.

Well Nevada County is rocking tonight with the landslide defeat of measure W by nearly 15%. Now its time for the Supervisors to get to work and craft an ordinance that mitigates the impacts of MJ Cultivation and gives Nevada County farmers to participate in this new era of commerce under the new state guidelines. The Supervisors put W on the ballot to let NC residents speak their mind on the issue and they did with a resounding no to a ban on outdoor cultivati0on. Roll up your sleeves Supes and go to work doing what you should have done in the first place.

Local hard-right bloggers and global warming deniers: Meet your incoming District 1 Supervisor!
Posted on June 8, 2016 by jeffpelline
George Rebane, Russ Steele, Todd Juvinall, Don Bessee, Bill Tozer, Gregory Goodknight, “Walt,” “fish” et al. Meet your incoming District 1 Supervisor, Democrat Heidi Hall!
George and Russ: I guess Nate Beason wasn’t so “liberal” after all. (Political bloggers Rebane and Steele, and some prominent leaders of the Nevada County Contractors PAC — you will recall — endorsed tea-party candidate Sue McGuire in 2012, mainly because Nate wasn’t conservative enough or too independent minded. Read their “thoughts” here, here and here).
Nate handily beat Sue McGuire, Nate retired and now Heidi is going to represent George and Russ in District 1. ROFLOL!
As the Irish might put it, western Nevada County politics are good craic. Exit question: Will George and Russ be “off to Tipperary” now that the District 1 Supervisor is a Democrat? And what if Hillary is elected President?
A hearty congratulations to both Ms. Hall for winning and to your wife as I’m sure that the constant (and quite justified) nagging to get rid of all of that semen stained “Greg Diaz for Clerk/Recorder” political swag out of the garage will finally pay off!
…And what if Hillary is elected President?
Then I’ve drawn a four card, Ace high, inside straight politically speaking and can look forward to four years of endless hilarity emanating from D.C.!

“When you shoot yourself in a foot that you’ve already stuck in your mouth, there’s a good chance you’ll blow your head off.” Very appropriate for the likes of Don Bessee, the sheriff, the tea party, the supervisors, the board of contractors, and the rest of the good ole boys who supported W. Welcome to the reality that your ideas and ideology are too far out on the fringe to be acceptable to the majority (which is how our society decides things; by majority vote). Welcome to the 21st century where issues like climate change and income inequality are real not some govmint conspiracy. Now, perhaps you will pull your collective feet out of your mouths and rather than trying to put them down other people’s throats help find solutions that work for everybody as opposed to trying to force your narrow minded solutions onto everyone else. If you want to assign blame for your guy losing District 1, blame yourselves, you blew poor Duane’s head right off.

It is with great interest but not surprise that I note the Left rejecting Hillary’s sins at State because no congressional committee has named her personally culpable. This is in contrast to their attributing leaders on the Right being responsible for what happened on their watch. In the case of Benghazi, the whole country knows and documents show that Hillary, Rice, and others in the administration lied about the video when they knew that the attack was planned, organized, and successful due to their own failures.

Only in a warped universe Todd, far, far away. Funniest quote I will read all day! Lets just ignore the major shift left in registration. Even Duane acknowledged the shift. I agree with smith, he would have done better had he stayed as a Moderate Dem and rejected Tea Bag money and support. Most of the Baggers were smart enough to stay out of the race in a progressive district, Duane filled the desperate vacuum as an unwitting participant in the right’s strategy. He would normally been a No on W guy, as a Nevada City merchant, but had to take a neutral position due to the backers. Besides that, he had no passionate positions to stake out, being a natural moderate progressive, with right wing backers. A political lesson learned.
