[Tonight all four Repubs – Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich – publicly pledged to support the Republican candidate who emerges from their convention.  That has got to take a load off some minds.  The innumerate liberals happily see no way how Trump now garnering 49% of Repub  primary voters, who are turning out in record numbers, prevail against the Dem candidate (Hillary in orange?) whose primary voters are setting records staying home.  And none of these same worthies understand the mood that has powered the candidacies of Trump and Sanders; for them the world is the same ol' same ol' with the Dem establishment ΓΌber alles.  gjr]

Unlike “Jon”, channeling Steven Frisch most recently, Dan Balz has an interesting column on the Trump phenomenon:

“Gingrich, who felt the sting of the Republican establishment in 2012 when he was challenging Romney in the GOP primaries, sees those condemning Trump and his followers as blind to the genuine anger around the country β€” at Obama in particular and also at the Republican leadership.
β€œYou have a party that mishandled the economic collapse, an elite leadership that failed to reform things, an attitude of arrogance to the very tea party people who wanted to change things,” he said. β€œThe people in the imperial capital cannot understand why everyone in the rest of the country is offended by sending money to the imperial capital.”
Gingrich said he believes Trump could become an effective ally of conservatism as a reform president. But to many in the party, Trump and his following represents what Galston called β€œthe first popularly based challenge within the Republican Party to basic conservative premises since Reagan.
That’s why so many in the party are so worried at this moment. β€œThere is nothing trivial about this, and it may result be a real rending of the party,” Weber said. β€œBut I don’t think it means the death of the party. If worst comes to worst, which I hope doesn’t happen, I think the recovery will be faster than people think.”

GOP conservatives would get 99 44/100% of everything they want were they to nominate Kasich, who would sign most everything a GOP controlled House and Senate would pass, but like most in the US they tend to think there’s an Emperor in the White House and not a President, especially given the imperious nature of the current Prez.

    Three points:
    1) Since the early 20th Century, the liberals’ goal has been to concertante power in the Executive Branch and rule by degree. Our Constitution has always been the antithesis of this idea with its balance of powers. In fact, the slogans used by the global left had to be dropped and rewritten after World War 2 because of the similarities to the themes and slogans used by Nazi Getmany. Thus, we stand at the Great Divide.
2). The GOP is being shattered, splintered if you prefer. The two top contenders currently are basically self funding outside of the Party apparatus. Both have broken off from the dependence the RNC and have not been reigned in (yet.). Losing control is indeed a threat to the Machine and the Oligarchy,
One must never ever forget that the RNC (GOP) and the Democrat Party are private entities, private institutions, private organizations.
3). This current election cycle is fantastic for democracy. Putting aside the circus Reality TV atmosphere, whenever any election creates greater interest among the electorate is a good thing. A Great Thing. All my life I have heard the bemoaning of the apathy of the voters who rarely as a whole tune in t rather than tune out. Whether your preferred candidate or political party wins or loses, this a very positive occurrence for democracy that we are witnessing. “The upside is greater than the downside.”….today’s morning quote.

Saturday’s Republican results suggest California might actually have something to say about the Republican presidential nominee.
But if Rubio and Cruz can deny Trump a first ballot victory at the party convention, the party establishment can wheel and deal to get the candidate it wants. Oh happy day!

Well said Mr Tozer (1045am). My hope is that when the dust settles on both sides of the aisle that we will actually have two more aisles thereby defining four national parties – center right (Old GOP), center left (Old Dems), far right (new party, Trump?, libertarian?), far left (socialist, Sanders? …). This would support the more nuanced political spectrum now arising and call for coalition governments to form that better represent the aggregate political mood of the country. More later.

Since the Clinton who owns a willy never got 50% of the vote, I suppose the advent of additional parties could be kingmakers. I hope the conventions are as fun as I think they will be. All those vying for power. Hill-Billy and Sanders and their wildcards, Biden and maybe Webb and the idiot from Baltimore.
This delegate count may be the savior for the regular GOP but maybe not. If Trump is a little short of delegates, my guess he will ask Cruz or Rubio, maybe even Carson to be his VP.
I truly believe all this is good for America. It shows there are people willing to run and they may be a little odd but I don’t care. Stir it up and see what shakes out. America can survive.

Might be Chicago Convention 1968 all over again. Wonder who will play the part of Mayor Daley and The Chicago Seven? Are Jerry Rubin and Abby Hoffman still available?
Don’t seem likely that the AG will be axed in a Saturday Night Massacre like in 74. Those where exciting times as well. Revolution in the air and drugs, sex, and rock-n-roll without AIDS. Tricky Dick and J Edgar where are you?
Well, at least the Republicans will improvise. Or maybe not. Right now it could be all bark and no bite. Maybe a group hug will settle any butt hurt feelings.. I would keep Carly happy and available for the general.electrion. She had better zingers than The Trump Maestro or anybody directed towards the former First Lady, but who follows the 2nd Tier? She will be an asset, but that comes later.
Oh boy, we have yet to see Trump unhinged. A brokered convention would take him to another level as well as us Trumpmaniacs.
In a way, Trump is a Republican consultant’s wet dream. After being relegated to 2nd class citizen status for years, the Republicans (Trump) are at the lead of each and every news cycle! Finally, we are not buried behind what some Dem said. We have taken the offense and own each and every news cycle. The press comes running when beckoned and remain at our beck and call and follow Trump’s every breath in case he drops a quick sound bite and the instant headlines. Even Nancy’s passing got kicked to the back of the line.
This is fantastic. Makes Bernie look boring and makes ya grab for some No-Doze when Hillary speaks.
Hillary believes the best offense is a good defense. I could be wrong, but Trump appears to believe the best defense is a great offense. Another chapter in long exciting book.

George 12:08, I think the likelihood for 2 parties holding virtually all the power is far more likely than 3 or 4… but orbiting around different poles. Conservatives need a bigger tent than than the one they can erect themselves, and it looks like a lurch to the left for the DP that will have to stay further to the left than they’ve been able to pull off before lest the looney younglings split off for a permanent minor Berning Man party to howl at the moon.
IF Trump is the GOP nominee, and Hillary the DP nominee… I think the skeletons in the Clinton closet will be getting some needed exorcise. No_doze will not be needed.

One of the least classy utterances by any First Lady-elect was by Nancy Reagan, who, faced with what must be a monumental task of moving into the White House, told the Washington press corps that it would be a big help if the Carters would vacate early.
Of course, the press went right over to Mrs. Carter and asked her about it… Roselyn just glared at them for asking.
IIRC, Nancy didn’t vacate before scheduled, either, but she did live there twice as long.

Flyover Nation: You Can’t Run a Country You’ve Never Been To
Dana Loesch has put her finger on a real word problem, leaders that have no idea of how we live in rural America. In the early 90s I was involved in Intellight Vehicle Highway Systems product development and we had scheduled a meeting with the Congressman who headed up the Transportation Committee. We arrived at the appointed time, but Congresman Leon Panetta was busy with Congressional business and we spent about 2-3 hours with this staff waiting for a meeting that never happened, where we learned that not one member of his staff had ever been west of the Appalachian mountains. They had no concept of how long it takes to drive the length of Montana, or California, or there were no gas stations and drug stores on every corner in rural communities. What an eye opener for a person raised in the west.
[Amazon Review of Fly Over Nation]
Blaze TV and top radio host Dana Loesch explains that the biggest political problem today is that the people who run this country have no idea what life is really like for ordinary Americans. In fact, they have contempt for the very people they claim to represent.
When the owners of a small pizza parlor in Indiana were asked by the local press whether they would ever cater a gay wedding, they said no, citing their personal religious beliefs. The internet responded with immediate outrage, posting death threats and vicious online reviews, and forcing them to shut down. All for expressing a personal opinion rooted in faith, in response to a completely hypothetical question. A new front in the culture war had been opened.
When the owners of the pizza parlor told Dana Loesch on a Blaze TV interview that they might never reopen, Loesch started a fundraising campaign. Hundreds of thousands of dollars quickly poured in to support them. The people donating weren’t taking a stand against gay rights; they just believed that a random mom-and-pop shop shouldn’t be run out of business because media and political elites on both coasts caricature and vilify rural Americans.
Most of the problems with our country today can be traced to a very simple cause – the growing disconnect between the government and media elites and the rest of us, the old-fashioned, hard-working, God-fearing Americans who are proud to live in middle America. As Loesch explains, too many people getting on their high horse about Wal-Mart have never shopped in one. Protesters outraged at small town cops have never been helped by one. Environmentalists who claim to want to protect the spotted owl have never been in the woods with one. Atheists who attack committed Christians have never sat in a pew with one.
Loesch doesn’t take aims solely at the Democrats; some Republicans in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail have also forgotten what life is like for the people back home. While these so-called leaders may have forgotten the people in coal towns and farming communities, the voters in those communities haven’t forgotten Washington’s betrayals. And it will show in 2016.
As one of the most powerful and recognizable voices on talk radio today, Dana Loesch is leading a revolution of America’s new Silent Majority.

He might sign almost everything the legislative branch would pass, but as a conservative, I don’t necessarily see that as a good thing. How does he intend to lower the deficit? How will he get rid of needless fed bureaucracy? Lol. Hillary blames 60 year old decaying water pipes at the doorstep of us racist Republicans. I knew it, just as I predicted. Nevermind that Flint and Detriot has been controlled by liberals for the last half century. The Republicans and White Privelge are to blame. We did this to the blacks on purpose, not the city leaders. That prediction was like shooting fish in a barrel.
Another easy prediction. Trump will carry New England hands down. Connecticut to Rhode Island. Which Republican will carry CA, Penn, NY, Michigan, Fl, Georgia, etc? The answer is Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump. Too easy. You guys make it too easy.
Ok, I have grown bored pretending to consider any other outcome and playing the “what if game” or consider another nominanee scenario. It’s Trump. Not some brokered convention, not a Cruz surge, not some Mitt coalition or somebody being resurrected from the loser pile. It’s Trump. Trump all the way. Another easy prediction. Might take awhile for it to dawn on you, but nobody, not even the pollsters or Trump knows how many supporters he has. The answer is enough to get the job done (barring being shot).

Thomas Lifson writes at the American Thinker that the Democratic Turnout has reveled a “dirty little secret”.
The numbers tell a story, and you can draw the obvious conclusions. Because the mainstream media certainly won’t. Keep this statistic in mind the next time some progressive tries to claim voter fraud is not a serious problem.
Huffington Post: β€œEight out of the 16 states that have held primaries or caucuses so far have implemented new voter ID or other restrictive voting laws since 2010. Democratic turnout has dropped 37 percent overall in those eight states, but just 13 percent in the states that didn’t enact new voter restrictions. To put it another way, Democratic voter turnout was 285 percent worse in states with new voter ID laws.”
Left unsaid: despite the β€œburden” of obtaining voter ID, GOP turnout was up.

“The most substantial of the activists’ demands is a call for a new college that would essentially train students to become social justice warriors (a term often applied derogatorily by critics of leftism that nevertheless seems appropriate here). WWU must meet the needs of this new β€œCollege of Power and Liberation” by immediately hiring 10 faculty membersβ€”subject to the approval of student-activists. Finding the money to do all this is solely the responsibility of WWU’s administration, β€œwhose accountability to students should be expressed through their fervent advocacy for students’ needs at both the local and state levels,” according to the activists, who want an extra $50,000 to throw a kick-off party for the new college. Another $45,000 will go toward paying students to do β€œde-colonial work on campus,” whatever that means.
Activists have also demanded the creation of an Office for Social Transformation, which would employ 15 studentsβ€”young Robespierres in trainingβ€”for the purposes of monitoring β€œracist, anti-black, transphobic, cissexist, misogynistic, ableist, homophobic, Islamophobic, and otherwise oppressive behavior on campus.” (Anti-Semitism, one notes, is curiously omitted.) These students will be granted terrifying powers to discipline faculty members who commit microaggressions. Professorsβ€”even tenured professorsβ€”can and will be placed under investigation if they are accused of maintaining insufficiently safe spaces within their classrooms.
These measures are hailed as β€œprogressive” by the activistsβ€”because what could be more progressive than committees of liberal extremists conducting thoughtcrime investigations?

I hear that the mascot for the new college is a guy who looks very much like Ben Emery and that the team name will be the “Red Guards”. During the football season he will run along the sidelines haranguing the crowds about their “privilege” and insufficient revolutionary zeal ……which I suppose in this context probably just means school spirit!

Using the word β€œCaucasian” is considered problematic as well, and should be discontinued in favor of β€œEuropean-American individuals.” The guide also states that the notion of race is β€œa social construct…that was designed to maintain slavery.”
“The guide also discourages the use of β€œmothering” or β€œfathering,” so as to β€œavoid gendering a non-gendered activity.”
Even saying the word β€œhealthy” is problematic, the university says. The β€œpreferred term for people without disabilities,” the university says, is “non-disabled.”

Oh, this poor lady is being cannibalized by the tolerate “do your own thing, it’s cool” Left. But…..this ain’t no mamby pamby run of the mill woman that they are forcing to walk the gauntlet. So sir, this is a Republican Woman! She can handle her own and has the Gold Metal to prove it. Give ’em hell!! You are Woman, we want to watch you roar. Get down on your bad self, girlfriend. Take it to them. Get loud and be proud.

Yup, it got wild here too. I found they guy’s outdoor furniture from two parcels away in my front yard. Had two tarps over the motorhome strapped down good, but when Momma nature is pissed, color them gone. I have yet to find’m. All the road rock on my driveway is now at the bottom of the hill in a nice pile.(again)
Now how all my roof shingles are still where they belong is a mystery.
