[Lest we forget Obamacare, that federal monstrosity has managed to get another of its tits in a wringer – mandated health insurance for California farmworkers.  The monthly cost for 50 or more workers starts at over $30K which their hiring companies can't afford, so they have to deny it and pay the fine.  But now the workers denied have to be declared to the IRS which will blow their cover as illegal aliens who haven't paid income tax forever, and more importantly blows the liberal bull crap that illegals pay their way in America.  Oh what to do when you're trying to be a proper central planner?  And then there's CA's gasoline price averaging over $2.40 when the rest of the country's average is $1.73/gal, and the margins in CA are so low that the refineries are shipping fuel out of state that adds shortage to the already higher costs of added taxes, green fees (not golf), and refining the special gas legal here.  We can go on, but isn't big government great?  gjr]

Well Dr. Rebane, I dunno. I will go out on a limb and say you do not embrace the Democratic Socialist Party’s political societal goals which were liberal to the max. Universal health care and the whole shebang. When those liberal talking points turned to tyranny, World War 2 put an end to that. Poor Germany and its liberal very progressive social policies in the 30’s and 40’s. Took half a century for the policies to rise again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yet another of the FUE’s petty criticisms of The Union, titled, “Only two people respond to The Union publisherโ€™s editorial page challenge,” was posted about 10:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2016 and is an example of the FUE’s ignorance, agenda, and hypocrisy.
The first sentence begins, “Western Nevada County has about 60,000 residents, yet only two (0.00003333333) responded to Publisher Jim Hemigโ€™s editorial page challenge…” The number in parentheses is very curious. Without units one has to deduce its intended purpose. From context, it would appear that the FUE intended to express the percentage of residents who responded but this number is, instead, the ratio of the numbers two and 60,000. What is more, this number violates the principles of accuracy and precision. The ratio of values with one significant digit should be expressed with only one significant digit. The number should have been given as “(0.003%)”.
The FUE then points out that one of the two respondents was Jo Ann Rebane, which is interesting and relevant, but goes on to point out that her husband is George Rebane which is in no way relevant. In the course of this irrelevancy the FUE manages to first correctly and then incorrectly spell Jo Ann’s name in consecutive sentences
The other respondent goes unnamed which I feel is probably because that person’s identity provided no opportunity to point out that his or her spouse is a “hard-right political activist and blogger.”
After quoting Jim Henig the FUE sets out to correct Henig with a sentence that is syntactically incorrect. It begins, “No Jim…” but should have begun “No, Jim…”
I don’t think that the FUE is ever going to get that failing to live up to the standards to which he holds others is hypocritical and unbecoming of the veteran editor and award-winning journalist that he so frequently reminds others of being.

Huzzah William……I’m beginning to think our gal….with a little assist from patriotic mainstream journalists will attain her goal!

Of the 16,000 words uttered by Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and moderators Gwen Ifil and Judy Woodruff, not one of them concerned Clintonโ€™s deepening email scandal. Not one mention of the words email, e-mail, private server or FBI.
Not a single media question or opponent mention of the huge legal cloud hanging over the partyโ€™s presumptive nominee. Nor of the ongoing FBI investigation into unauthorized use of her unsecured private email server for government business, including loose handling of Top Secret documents endangering national security intelligence-gathering and covert operations.
Not any reference to the State Department Inspector Generalโ€™s subpoena to the Clinton Foundation exploring possible connections between foreign government donations possibly trying to curry favor during Clintonโ€™s four-year tenure as Obamaโ€™s secretary of State.
Oh, and not a single word either about Benghazi, the murder of four Americans there, the phony video excuse, the lack of rescue or reinforcement attempts and any Clinton responsibility for the well-documented poor consulate security. Nothing on tax or entitlement reforms. National debt.
A complete pass for Hillary Clinton. Whoosh! Home free. Other than that, it was a serious grilling about being female, admiring Obama, taxing the rich more, free stuff and other liberal issues.
Itโ€™s as if Judy Woodruff, Gwen Ifill, and PBS were just trying to help the Democrats or something.

Right on, Mr. Kesti. Good report, but most likely over the FUE’s lovely head. He could open his mind the tiniest of cracks and learn from the likes of you to overlook the small flaws and imperfections of his fellowman and see the bigger picture. Old habits are hard to break I reckon. At least our esteemed yet underappreciated Grammarian Laureate is not the dreaded spelling nazi. Must be in the FUE’s DNA.

Oh Fish @ the crack of Dawn. The Dem debate is a love fest, as it should be. Sure, one of PBS’s moderators last night is a big hearted intelligent donor to the Clinton slush fund Fountation, not to mention the fact that PBS News carried the breaking news of the government laying subpoenas on the super duper Chelsea and Bill and Hillary Clinton super pac Foundation earlier in the day.
Patience my dear aquatic one , patience. I do feel sorry for Huma. Any convictions of The Espionage Act disqualifies the person from holding public office per da law. Two thoughts:
    1) An old post from Walt concerning a minor FUE-CRABB dust up at time. “Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel.” He who has ears, let him hear.
2). BTW, Mr. Crabb, it was Ted Cruz who said “carpet bomb” ISIS, not TheTrumpmeister. All that justifiable anger at Trump for not. I will have to drop by and take your coat. You will get it back after the next snowstorm or three. Kudos for being the chief bead tosser.

Memo to Michael R. Kesti: The publisherโ€™s name is Jim โ€œHemigโ€ not โ€œJim Henig.โ€ Even if โ€œfishโ€ gave you an โ€œAโ€ grade, you just got a Medill โ€œFโ€ for your blogosphere โ€œcommentary.โ€ A real substantive error, not a petty one. ROFLOL.
    Reply

Given your predilection for obsessing over the typos of others while completely disregarding your own substantive versus non-substantive is moot. As an example…..substantive…..fucking up your own mothers memorial tribute. Non-substantive….hitting the “n” key when you meant to strike “m”.

FUE (posted to his blog) 12 Feb 16 7:10 am
I acknowledge that I did twice misspell Jim Hemig’s name. I would correct these errors if I could edit my comments to RR. The FUE, however, did not acknowledge his errors nor, despite his usual practice, has he made any corrections to his article. It would seem that his journalistic integrity ends where he finds something about others to criticize.

Pelline is always urging KVMR and The Union to apply the same standards to their opinion features as The New York Times to improve the quality of their offerings.
What he doesn’t bother to mention is that the Times has 19 full-time employees on its editorial board, who devote their time to the editorials, columns and opinion pieces that appear in the paper. The Union has just 11 full-time editorial employees while KVMR has a lot of volunteers.
Is that a fair comparison? Of course not, but fair has nothing to do with it if it advances Jeffy’s agenda.
