[Happy New Year! to all RR readers. This year will turn out more exciting and surprising than any of us can anticipate. From the socialists' perspective, they are at the cusp of a victory from which they can deal a deathblow to American capitalism and institute their new economic order as part of the country's fundamental transformation that Obama promised and has already launched. We conservatarians also see this as a cusp year, but given the disarray of the Republicans, it will be one from which a 2016 Democrat defeat will deliver little besides delaying the day of reckoning between collectivism and open markets capitalism. So I thought it would be appropriate to start the year with a fresh sandbox. gjr]

This should make “jon’s”day.

And we are just hearing about this now?
It seems plenty of our guarded hardware show up where it don’t belong when LIBS run the show. From Clinton giving China missile tech., to “O” and Co. allowing one of our best stealth drones to be captured. Now this!LikeLike

“Canada is now sueing for breach of “treaty” over the XL pipeline denial”. Dirtmover
Walt, you continue to be, as they say, SANS CLUE. No idea what you are talking about.LikeLike

Yes “jon”,, that a fact. Canada IS sueing. Deal with it.
You have a search tool…. Use it.
BTW,, This should give you heartburn.

And Trump goes up in the polls on the news.
Sorry son,,Hillary has bought the Progressive nomination with all the money she has given to the DNC. Your commie pal Bernie has already been burned.LikeLike

TranCanada is suing the US federal government and is demanding 15 billion in compensation under NAFTA. Named defendants include John Kerry, Loretta Lynch, Jeh Johnson and Sally Jewel sect. of interior. The claim is filed under chapter 11 of NAFTA.

It is clear the ‘jon’ was sans clue at 819pm. No idea what your talking about clearly shows your ignorance of the event in that post. So while Walt may not have cited the chapter 11 NAFTA claim he clearly had an idea of what was actually happening. It is also clear that when you are talking about wits that the ‘jon’ does not have a whit of wit. Look it up the ‘jon’. 😉

Only if the “workshop” is to restore river gold dredging. Gold dredgers have removed more toxic crap from said rivers, than the ECO kooks ever did.
And you buy a drink? LOL! I doubt you are allowed in bars.LikeLike

Oh Walt, good one. I have indeed done my part to support the eating and drinking establishments of our fine area. You probably won’t find much support for gold dredging at the Festival. But for an open minded gent like you, it would be a chance to look at things through a new perspective. Oh well, my family will be enjoying the festival. So glad that the City of GV had the foresight to welcome SYRCL with big-time open arms this year, and get a real nice mid-winter economic boost, to boot. Because of SYRCL, we’ve become very well known throughout the land for our Environmental awareness, and that’s a very good thing.

I guess it doesn’t take much to please the like of you “jon”, a brush infested fire hazard of a canyon is somehow “scinic”. And how come the second a mountain lion is spotted near the trail, the call goes out to track it down and kill it? (safety first for the tourists)
So much for “the wild”.LikeLike

fish, that was actually pretty funny. And Walt, you apparently don’t know scinic when you see it. Most people consider the Yuba a very scenic river. Ever stand at the edge up at Ananda? That’s scinic my man!

(Besides. “we” have to endure that uncapitalized “j” of yours, despite the countless times you have been corrected.)LikeLike

Sorry Walt, I didn’t even know a spell checker defaults on here, until I intentionally tried writing like an idiot.
Oh and I’ve never, ever used an uncapitalized “j”. Perhaps you have a medical condition?LikeLike

FWIW… it’s very possible “Walt the Dirtmover” is the detritus of that early constructivist reading pedagogy, “See and Say” aka “See and Guess”. I’ve met a number of functioning adults who never managed to connect all the dots after their early reading instruction ignored all we now know about phonics and its importance in literacy. We now know that skilled adult readers use the same speech centers of the brain used when listening to speech; whether heard or read, the words are parsed into phonemes and the words are then understood.
Walt is very possibly one wounded reader, and I think I’m not betraying any confidences that Russ is another. So is my sister who got a phonics-less early education that was adopted in our shared school a couple of years after I did. About a decade after being promoted into Junior High, as a physics major on a break, I taught Algebra to the MGM kids in the school who’d run out of math the teachers understood. One day, a Romanian educator was visiting with a handler from the school District’s curriculum orifice, and we got to chatting. Middle aged Romanian lady told me in Romania they taught reading phonetically and as soon as I piped up that I was taught the same way, at the very school we were sitting in when the handler swooped over, informed the both of us that English was best taught by See and Guess and ushered out the nice lady before we could talk further.
Nice lady may or may not have seen that behavior outside a Warsaw Pact country.LikeLike
-
Gregory,
You are correct. I was taught to see and guess speed reading. It has hampered me all my life. I really only read the first three character of a long word and guess the rest based on the context of the sentence. Boy, oh boy does that lead to some very bad proofreading. I can come back to something I wrote months earlier and cannot believe that I wrote and proofed the text. Ellen was taught phonetically, a very good speller, and English Major. She is my editor if the product is being sold. Blogging, I am on my own and it shows. I am now using a program that monitors my spelling and grammar as I write. It helps but is not the total solution. Yes, my education, or lack thereof, shows. I am currently working through a Great Courses class on sentence construction. Let’s see if it helps.LikeLike

Oh NO jon, Donald Trump has big tent appeal. What now?
A Politico review of private and public polling data and interviews with GOP pollsters shows a coalition that certainly begins with conservative, blue-collar men now extends to pro-choice Republicans, independents and even registered Democrats unnerved, primarily, by illegal immigration.

Russ, it’s beginning to smell a lot like Reagen Democrats arising again, saddling up, and heading to town. And boy are they pissed. Push back time and they too, gasp!, wanna make America great again.
And all those sweet co-eds coming from our PC schools and training are discovering for the first time about a 19 year old teenager named Monica, Paula Jones, Kathleen W, Juainta B and will be shocked. It’s a old issue to me, but not to our young men and women. They will be shocked, stunned, and appalled. Been there, done that. And why on earth would they vote for that old political hack corrupt broad? Hillary is not even a choice for them. Lizzy Borden Warren, our country needs you to bring a woman’s touch to old white angry Bernie’s ticket. Far left vs the Reagen Democrats., I love it!. Exciting times, bro.LikeLike

Oh NO, jon, now what?
A new survey shows a sizable number of Democrats ready to defect from Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump.
Nearly 20 percent of likely Democratic voters say they’d cross sides and vote for Trump, while a small number, or 14 percent, of Republicans, claim they’d vote for Clinton. When those groups were further broken down, a far higher percentage of the crossover Democrats contend they are “100 percent sure” of switching than the Republicans.

If Trump keeps pushing the jobs issue he may pick up millions of voters from the left. They too are being screwed by Obama’s economic policies. Today they are touting 290K new jobs in December. Duh! Temporary XMAS jobs just like it has been every year of my life. The employers will now be shedding those and the rolls will bloat. So democrat blue collar men and women who would rather work will be flocking to the guy with the job policies. And ObamaCare must be booted and allow the people to get full time jobs. So I can see the “Reagan” democrats supporting Trump.

Oh Russ, you can’t trust US News and World Report. It’s a far right wing rag for certain. Hillary’s new speech is “hey, you may not like me, but at least I’m electable” when yapping to voters about The Bernman. Hmm. Makes sense to Hillary and Debbie, but begs the question “How low can you go?”
Actually I would prefer that articles like the one Mr. Steele posted above would be blocked from the web. I like it when the Shock and Awe head scratching and mumbling happens to all the experts who are confounded by results and their smug predictions make them all look like fools. Hey, whatever happened to the Dem front runner Edmund Muskie? Is he still alive sucking up my air?
The mood is this: it’s not Trump as much as the nation does not like Hillary, does not want Hillary (and her excessive baggage scandals which costs way too much to put on the airliner) and the angry mood of the country in this post racial era. Sixties talking points and urgent campus foot stomping just don’t put food on the table or keep us safe.
Ah, forget all that bull pucky I just wrote. It’s Trump. It’s all about Trump.. Ain’t nothing to do with Hillaty orThe Bernman or Uncle Joe or Jonnie the windsurfer Kerry, or Elizabeth Two Dogs Humping Squawking Sqaw…..nope, they have no role to play. It’s The Donald, stupid.LikeLike
