PaulE 1025am – There are some good reasons why our president should be given the authority to negotiate trade agreements in confidence with other sovereign nation-states, and then bring them to Congress for study and an up/down vote. As I’ve pointed out before, the TPA is not the TPP – you can support one and oppose the other. Here’s what the Congressional Research Service has published on the TPA that also answers your precedence question.

Todd, which Sanders legislation are you referring to? What have I ever said that that would lead one to describe Sanders as a corporate stooge?
Single payer is not a ridiculous concept. It takes away the 30% of funds that go to insurance companies and places it back into the system of caring for patients. There are many reforms that could improve our current system, provide better care, and cut costs, but these moves are blocked by pharmacusetical giants(among others) who get legislation that makes it illegal for Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices. Drugs that were developed on the taxpayer’s dime.
Despite comments about socialized medicine, countries with single payer like it, while practicaly no one like our system.

The problem with Single Payer is the gov’t don’t know squat how to manage healthcare or how to make it work, as opposed to the expertise, yes expertise, the private sector has accumulated through decades on how to run the insurance industry without shuddering their doors and leaving us all out in the cold. Can you say Veterans Administration? Can you say it’s getting hard to get in to see a real doctor, not to mention a specialist, who loves Medicaid? Can you say clinics going under or consolidating. Can you say the inmates are running the Asylum, running around like monkeys trying to hump footballs? I bet you can.

Patricia, you have mistaken me for someone else on the Bernie Sanders and corporations.
Single payer is a bust Patricia. European nations have seen their economies tank as they have taken over all the medical expenses. Great Britain is in the throes of a reset with their NHS. I would suggest you look at the polls and see if the American peple are on your side. I think not. Last one I saw about their like for the current system before Ocare was 80% liked it. If you have different info please supply the links.
Regarding the “pharma” conspiracy on pricing. Can you please supply your sources for that? I am unaware the “pharma” industry is involved. I seem to be pretty happy with my insurance reimbursements as is my doctor. So please toss me some links to back up your allegations. If true that would be terrible!

PatriciaS 1154am – To circle this barn again, the only reason some countries with single payer like it is because they haven’t hit the wall yet. ALL ‘single payer countries’ are operating unsustainable healthcare programs in the quantitative sense that such programs eat up an ever larger percent of their GDP with each passing year. And none of these countries pay their own security costs – relying instead on Sheriff Uncle Sam to keep them safe. Our feckless president has now given them second thoughts about that policy. And when they start paying for their own defense, then single payer really starts getting expensive.
Liberals particularly should note that any program that year after year continues to consume a larger fraction of any budget is on the face of it unsustainable. America has a number of such programs – to the Democrats such realities are invisible, and the Republicans just go into denial so they don’t have to think about it.

Pattie you don’t give a shit about our warriors other than as a talking point in your snake oil show. If you cared you would be screaming for the public employee unions to be defanged so the SOB’s at the VA can be fired. Since the last head of the VA resigned only 1 person has been fired. Hell not even the secret service can properly discipline its wayward due to the unions so says the head of the secret service. The science on this issue is being looked at but the fact is that all the evidence of mmj impacts in psychiatric cases is that it makes things worse hence the positions of the professional medical associations. For you to imply that all the suicides of military would be solved if we gave them all a joint is despicable for your self serving exploitation of this and other populations. Just like the davet syndrome kids. The Denver Children’s hospital and the Epilepsy Foundation have shredded your sob stories. The EEG’s in CO show that the people who moved to the state in search of the holy oil wildly over report positive results with their home chemistry. The people who lived there all along do not report the miracle cure results. Trying to exploit the sad plight of these 3000 or so kids in the country to make policy for hundreds of millions shows the lengths you guys will keep going trying to manipulate uneducated populations with guilt and stoked emotions. You don’t want anyone to know how much science is happening all over the world because it does not fit your tired narrative.

The FUE has again demonstrated the immensity of that chip on his shoulder with another grammar related criticism of The Union. He claims that the sentence, “Their small taphouse and cramped brewery donโ€™t look like much.” should have used “doesn’t” rather than “don’t.”
    He is incorrect.
“Don’t” is used when speaking in first and second person, singular and plural; and in third person plural. “Doesn’t,” on the other hand, is used only when speaking in third person singular. The taphouse and the brewery are third person and because they comprise more than one object the plural form is appropriate.
    It gets better.
In asserting his correction, the FUE writes, “From where most of us come from, it should read ‘doesnโ€™t look like much.’” In addition to the redundant “from” in that sentence there should be a comma after the word “read” to set off the quotation.
It seems that it is the FUE who is in need of a good copy editor as well as a crane to assist in the removal of that chip!

Deputy Don, May 25, 4:23pm It would be refreshing if you got your facts straight just once, but I suppose that would be asking too much (and you call me a dilletante). Countless numbers of Vets have been helped with medical marijuana. Dr. Sue Sisley has been awarded $2M to study the effects of MMJ on PTSD and the VA is now authorized to recommend MMJ to their patients. Do you think this would happen if it didn’t help? If it saves one soldier’s life, isn’t that worth it? (And BTW, most patients do not smoke MJ these days, please try to keep up with the rest of the class.)
You are also wrong about kids with Dravet’s syndrome. The world became aware of the ability of MMJ to control seizures when everything else failed from Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s remarkable CNN special that introduced us to Charlotte Fiji. We witnessed her decline using conventional medicine and we watched her recover using cannabis oil. She is not alone. But if you don’t care about soldiers recovery, how can I expect you to have compassion for children?
Many major medical associations now endorse MMJ. Here is a link to 60 US and International organizations that endorse MMJ, http://norml.org/component/zoo/item/detailed-reference?category_id=734.
Here is the link to the Epilepsy Foundation, http://www.epilepsy.com/article/2014/2/epilepsy-foundation-calls-increased-medical-marijuana-access-and-research
Even the American Psychiatric Assoc encourages more research in to the efficacy of MMJ.

Well, PTSD. My Dad called it going Asiatic” after being the sole survivor of a sub that is laying in the bottom of the sea in the South Pacific back in the days following Pearl Harbor. He said his buddies had gone Asiatic after they blocked the old Long Beach freeway stopping cars with candles in hand looking for the girl with the wooden leg. Or, maybe too many Mia-Thais.
Serious stuff. My research through the unbiased Mayo Clinic gives medicinal cannabis a C rating, which means it needs more research. I stay away from the rah-rah cheerleading of some pro-cannabis web sites cause I know what they are going to say, i.e., “it’s the greatest thing since someone invented the Thermos.” Or better, lol.
I have some aches and pains. In fact, I just got back from the Wound Center in Auburn cause I got myself one nasty super bug foot infection that is antibiotic resistant. I cured it using Manuka Honey and this morning they look pictures and said to me “long time no come see, Charlie. You are healed.” and they could not even find the wound. The Mayo Clinic also gives Manuka Honey a C rating. This started in March, and after a week or so of using Manuka Honey on the wound, it is gone. This was after a trip to the ER, specialists, pediatrists, and 2-3 months of ugly foot to no avail, including recommendations to be hospitalized. Hell, that would interfere with work. I went natural.
All this to say that Patricia focuses on medical cannabis solely, not recreational use. During my time of pain, a friend gave be a tube of Full Extract Cannabis Oil (cannabidiol CBD specific blend). I was reluctant to put in on my open non healing wound, so I rubbed some on the ever present pain in the neck. That night my neck cracked into place while sleeping and cracked some more the next morning. Boy, that felt good and I haven’t been able to crack my neck back into place in years. Must have relaxed the neck muscles or something cause it aligned itself. Thank goodness.
Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it. Better than smoking the shat.

Thank you Bill. All I ask is for people to keep an open mind, try to learn the facts, then decide for themselves (with their doctors approval) if MMJ is right for them. It’s a personl decision, but should be an option for anyone in need.
Thanks for the tip about honey. I’m for any natural healing option and look at all the trips to the doctor it could have saved you – and you got better results when you went natural. I hope they don’t try to ban honey now!
I know I’m a bit of a broken record about MMJ, but I’ve been an activist for 40+ years. This has been my primary focus for a long time and now that the Feds are starting to lossen up their restrictions, I can’t let the matter lie until every patient anywhere in this country has access to safe and legal MMJ.

Pattie you are so caught up in your propaganda that you still have not fathomed the facts of SAM’s science based approach to the issue. SAM Nor Cal operates in the CA legislative structure where we have mmj. We and the professional groups all are saying more study is needed to get to a place where there are facts derived from controlled studies that can be used to establish real medicine. You know things like dosing and purity standards that are applied to the pharma. industry and especially the efficacy v risk factors in pediatric dosing. There is a massive difference between recommending more scientific study and endorsing the use of marijuana. Denver Children’s Hospital was very clear in their conclusions as to the placebo effect in desperate families who moved to CO. Just look at the English studies on psychiatric emergency admissions spiking behind modern high powered weed products and rates of kids admissions to treatment. Not good news for the wonder drug.

You’re right “jon” Sanders is oh so right on the economic issues!
It’s a world view popular in the Washington, D.C.-area, where 5 of the ten wealthiest counties in America sit. Government is big business, for politicians and for business. Sure, “theoretically” out-of-touch politicians like Sanders may be “very concerned about the issues of working people.” But they also have an obligation not to be so ignorant, because their policies, however well-intentioned they say they are for working folk, are destroying opportunities for all people of all classes. But, for Sanders and the rest, it’s a good hustle if you can keep it.
Sanders is expected to have a big, symbolic campaign event in Burlington this afternoon. Ben & Jerry’s, the Vermont ice cream company owned by socialists who, naturally, are fans of Sanders, will participate, by handing out free ice cream. Let’s hope they’ve limited it to one choice in order to supply Vermont’s hungry children too, or something.

Socialism for thee but not for a member of the Nomenklatura like Sanders it seems!

Don, unfortunately for you and SAM, the majority of the world sees through your propaganda that marijuana is an evil, dangerous drug. You keep throwing out “facts” without any substantiation and they are invariably wrong. Everytime I correct your statements, you counter with another incorrect remark.
ASA has been advocating for testing and standard dosing levels of marijuana for at least a decade so don’t act like this is something thought up by SAM which has only been around for a few years. And please don’t deny that SAM and other anti-drug groups are sponsored by big Pharma. You are supporting drugs that kill more people than all the illegal street drugs combined. Just because they are packaged and distributed from a pharmacy, doesn’t make them safe.
Here is a link to the Children’s Hospital of Colorado. They are hardly the skeptics you described. http://www.childrenscolorado.org/wellness-safety/parent-resources/marijuana-what-parents-need-to-know/medical-marijuana/medical-marijuana-and-epilepsy.

Don, ASA’s treasurer just brought me a copy of a letter from the FPPC regarding the charges you filed against Citizens for Fair Laws. You made many accusations that we had done things improperly. To bolster your charges, you submitted the backside of our handouts to claim we didn’t state who paid for our materials. You insinuated that there were financial irregularities in our reporting, but the FPPC has cleared us of any wrongdoing.
How many lawsuits have you filed against those who oppose you? How much money have you cost the county and how much time have you eaten up misusing the court system for your own purposes? How many cases have you won and how many were deemed frivolous? I’m sure there are more examples, but off the top of my head, I know that you have filed numerous charges against Chris Owens, Judge McManus, the recall efforts against the ASPOA, ASA, and Citizens for Fair Laws. You need to take up a hobby.

Pattie you can spin but you were issued a warning letter by the FPPC, you now have a permanent FPPC record along with ASA and your other entities. As to the newspaper ads that did not disclose the committee, they have no backs because they are in the newspaper! Its the committees job not the newspapers. They also said you got a break because you were ‘an unexperienced committee’. They found you did not properly file your financials end of subject. ======= ” This letter serves as a written warning. The information in this matter will be retained and may be considered should an enforcement action become necessary based on newly discovered information or future conduct. Failure to comply with the provision of the Act in the future will result in monetary penalties of up to $5,000 for each violation” ===== Then there is the matter of 5 letters from the Nevada County Elections office to your committee that confirmed each of our concerns about your financials when they rejected them. Remember? I guess your irony switch is off today, that you of all people bring up litigiousness considering how many emergency motions and suits against the County your side has filed in recent years. LOL

The statements you quoted are the boilerplate warnings that COULD have pertained if we were found guilty, but they determined that our ads and handouts were properly disclosed and our financial reports were in order.
The letters from the Elections office were for minor details like leaving a date off of a page or forgetting to total a page. No matter how many times you tried to report us, the agencies involved didn’t find anything to charge us with.
This is yet another example of the lengths you will go to try to discredit your opponents. Too bad they keep blowing up in your face and end up making you look foolish.

For a Conservative like you to hide under the governments skirt to advance you’re personal agenda is a little ironic. For all the talk about us being over regulated you embrace government enforced rules about what you can grow in your flower garden and are opposed to personal choice when it comes to herbal medicine, which indeed is what medical cannabis is.
Also, can you give us an update on how your drive to increase regulations on cannabis cultivation in Nevada County is going? The story has fallen out of the news lately, likely an indicator of an abandoned idea. I hear the Supes asre not interested in going forward. Kinda late this year. You’d have to tell all the growers that are in compliance that there are new rules in place. You will have to live with the often quoted statement by Sheriff Royal during the “S” debate that the current ordinance is working fine.

So you deny you got a warning letter? Time for a little history folks. The first observed error was a gap in June 2014 campaign expense reporting. Then with the September reports there were tens of thousands of dollars in cash that were flying around from committees that were not registered election committees. That reporting period generated the 5 NC Elections letters which reflected our observations. Then you were allowed to file amended reports which eventually happened. That was many months after our complaint. Go check the union stories in chronological order gang. IF you were cleared you get a case dismissed letter not a warning letter. The letter has been in circulation since I got mine, it was dated 15 May. Welcome to the legal repoting election process.
