   Todd posted’ “not actual Limbaugh quotes but those made up by Media Matters and other leftwing sources.” Just goes to show your ignorance of how the real world works. Media Matters can’t make up the quotes, they come from transcripts from recordings of shows broadcast on the public airwaves. All broadcast stations must record every second of airtime. Most commonly stations use the recordings to verify advertising in case of dispute over ad contracts, but also for language issues etc. Yes, quotes can be taken out of context, but they cannot be made up.

   JoeK 1050am – Few people will take the time to research the origin of your “liberal propaganda machine”; no one can see inside your head as to whom your reply is directed – please cite the commenter and time tag of comment. And re the view points of the blogs you cite, I thought that their characterizations were established years ago – they are all venues for observations colored by very specific ideologies, each attempting to sway the undecided and/or pre-informed reader. My last attempt at clarifying RR’s raison d’etre was here.

   I’ve been involved in broadcasting for 40 years, including holding a First Class Radiotelephone license (Back when there was such a thing.) and I’ve never heard of this requirement. Can you cite the FCC regulation that includes this requirement.

   Such nonsense. Please consider attending a course in logic.

   Lefty Jeffys liberal lament land today continues the tradition of unintended giggles. We have the head of the Nevada county dems Furth lamenting about the crappy voter turn out in Nevada County. The reality is that he is still focused on his failure to generate any voter interest in the Grass Valley election which did have a lower than County turn out. The County however had one of the highest (perhaps the highest when the finals are released) turn outs in the State with a current reported turn out of over 64%. People did come out in great numbers and voted for what they cared about in Nevada County, LaMalfa and Measure S. Thanks to you all again for making that happen!

   JoeK, I think you have been chastised correctly by Kesti. I agree with his comment. I have been the recipient of “quotes” made up as I was often the subject of liberal propaganda myself. I had a radio show for four years and can tell you that you do not know what you are talking about. I have also been the subject of news stories in the local Union newspaper and quoted in the story when no reporter was there!
   Anyway, Kesti is much smarter than me and you so listen to him and learn.

    It does appear Stephen Frisch, the rent-seeking overpaid CEO of the wretchedly misnamed Sierra Business Council has made a resolution to be the same bomb throwing, factually challenged, selectively blind, historically revisionist, comprehensionally challenged political bigot he’s been all along. You can’t but admire his desire to double down and be a prick for another year.
    No Steve, while I don’t agree with George’s questioning details of how the Mexican high school band spelling I Love Mexico came to be in the Rose Parade (as a past participant and trumpet soloist in the Parade, them being an excellent marching band is enough for me), he most certainly did not question anyone’s veracity, nor, contrary to your claim over at Scoopy’s, does the concept of Free Speech have anything to do with your being tossed due to your propensity to use George’s blog to slander George or anyone who posts here who doesn’t agree with you.

    Well, looks like the monkey was trying to hump the football again and was sent to spend some time in the penalty box. Someday the monkey will get it right.
    The bigger point is the left has drummed it into our next generation’s little sponge like heads in public schools, in institutions of higher learning, in government, and now in forgein affairs the idea of Blame America First. Look how the Euro Whities treated the slaves, the Injuns, and the Japanese Americans rounded up and put in interment camps during the sequel to the Great War. Plus we side with gasp!, the Israeli Zionists. Bad Ametica, Bad!
    With this liberal theme of America is just another country such as Brazil or Romania, just a nation among nations now, the whole idea of “America First” must be stomped out. The U S of A is a colonist capitalist former empire and has to make amends for its evil ways.
    The way to foster all ideas and goals of the liberal Socialists Marxists is to quench dissenting speech. Thus, the tiny 10’x10′ “free speech” zones on our campuses. Ironically, universities were founded on higher learning through the free flowing exchange of ideas and dialogue. Not so anymore. My niece took a creative writing class at our tiny Sierra College. The class was told they can write a paper on any subject except abortion. There is more than one way to skin a cat, and more than one way to stop opposing ideas in their tracks.
    Us of the conservative right believe what this nation needs is more speech, not less speech, no matter if it sounds like fingernails on the chalkboard to our ears.
    Dear readers, please name one group of conservatives that stand up and protest free speech or want to shut it down. Name one group of conservatives that cry publicly that free speech is hate speech, no matter how valid the points being addressed are. We were appalled by people burning Old Glory, but that is the only example I can think of. The liberal wet dream is to make speech contrary to the liberal party line a punishable offense. Just look how the IRS went after folks that referenced these two little words: Tea Party. Oh, they are a spiteful lot and are too thin skinned. It’s their way or you will pay one way or another.
    Critize Castro in Cuba and its 20 years in a very hard prison. Critize the lefties and it’s an audit from the IRS or other legal trouble, or being not promoted in academia, shown the door or ostericized by your superiors and co-workers in government cause your thoughts and beliefs are “not the right fit”. They strive to quench speech everyday while the conservatives want more speech.

    I find this blog to be a very interesting group of “folks” as it seems to be the group of crying clueless folks who all like to pat each other on the head, and tell each other how right they are…..
    This is all of 7-8 locals (in a county of 100,000), and a couple of imports (as maybe you’ve drained the local clueless pool?) that want to tell us about how things “should be”?
    The most amazing thing is that the leader of this band (who has a Doctorate?) is the leader of this group….. How and what does that say about the education system in this country?
    It’s an amazing thing that someone of his education level and stature would be involved, and promote this.

    Oh Fish, that wasn’t very Nevada City friendly. Perhaps Mr. Burns should avoid the Sandbox and venture into categories where he will find volumeous posts, comments, and insightful critical thinking on the topic of our current educational system. But, I see a flaw. There is no “education” category, albeit this topic has thousands of comments. Hey Doc, Whatz up with dat?
    As my favorite liberal Bob Beckel says, “I never would have passed college if I didn’t sleep with the French teacher.” The man is pure genius and learned a lot running national Democrat presidential campaigns, even though he his candidates never became Prez. I love his honestly and I love Gruber. Both are refreshingly honest and very intelligent men. We can learn bunches and bunches from them.

It has been a matter of record that over its years RR is constantly visited by collectives of every stripe to raise their leg and leave a mark. All of them have a constant refrain of decrying the RR readers and commenters who disagree with their ill stated ideology without offering anything resembling an idea or refutation. Let’s be clear that these bitter people are to be distinguished from the liberals who regularly join in the constructive broad spectrum debates for which RR is known, and presumably why its readership has grown. Sadly, drive-by sniping seems to be the intellectual limit of such individuals, and our country is poorer for it.
    BillT 1039am – Mr Tozer, your point is well taken and ‘Education’ should have its own category. As you know, education topics have been gathered under the ‘Critical Thinking & Numeracy’ category, but your point stands. Perhaps it’s not too late.

    Mr. Steel has a point about Terry Burns being a real person, sounds like some trolls we all know. Wonder if his ip has had other names attached in the past? Sure fits the profile of a heckler who wants a veto. His style of attack is why so few people will stick their heads up above the crowd and say what so many are thinking. It is not about how many are willing to stand up and tell the truth, rather it is about how many are listening and get to hear the truth and are then refreshed by the notion that they are not alone. No debate offered by Burns just drop a little slime and personal attacks and scurry away. Someone please provide him with lefty jeffys email so they can commiserate. With the likes of Brad Peckermer-Glasse and Laura MCLoud counseling lefty jeffy, Terry Burns fits right in with lefty jeffys liberal lament land.

    Well now.. Not everyone is collage material. ( yup,, that would be me.) In my line of work the most important thing to know is that shit runs down hill. ( Don’t put the septic tank uphill from the house) Not everyone can be “the boss” ( too many chiefs and not enough Indian braves) Heck… I can live with that.
    As for me, I strive to be better at “doing” and a better job “of it” than the next guy.(or gal these days) That’s how I measure success. When the “chiefs” of the industry track you down when they get wind your not on “the other guy’s” payroll, and want you in their camp,, you know you have done well. It’s not the certificates in frames hanging on the wall that is the measure of success. It’s the job well done at the end of the day.
    And just because I dig ditches for a living, doesn’t make me stupid. Education takes many forms.

And even if these are merely sock puppets of existing liberals, that they come here to increase the density of their venom is testimony enough that they don’t believe their own accusations of how insignificant is this website or the substantive debates in which its readers regularly engage – else RR would not be worth the trouble.

    Mr. Todd, it did occur to me that it is quite a coincidence that Mr. Burns showed up to give a parting shot as soon as Mr. Eastside of the Divide was put in the penalty box again. Both have the same flair as the monkey trying to hump a football.
    Speaking of monkeys (and to be fair and balanced), both Mr. Burns and his lovely twin leave me feeling like the monkey who humped the skunk. The monkey did not get all he might of, but he got all he could stand.
    The lefties have a problem. That problem is a long documented history of having to lie to sell their agenda; from the Great Society to Obamacare to Global Frying. If one has to lie to sell something, then one is selling a lie. Interesting to me is that the lefties do not consider that a problem. Go figure.

    Christine Newsom, MD writes in the 5jan15 Union taking our cartoonist RL ‘Bob’ Crabb to task for not including AGW – “the greatest crisis of all” – in his graphic litany of 2014 “disasters and sadnesses”. The woman’s medical education apparently did not include enough about the scientific method to allow her to access the substantial record of scientific skepticism and its supporting data re AGW. Perhaps in medicine ‘consensus’ opinion is the accepted receptacle of delivered wisdom, but it definitely is not in science or engineering. And the astute reader already knows that there exists no scientific consensus on either the existence, causes, or control of anthropogenic global warming.

However, what is less known is that more and more school districts with Hispanic teachers and predominantly Hispanic students are also taught a particularly virulent brand of American imperialism.
