[Our progressive readers’ comments provide adequate confirmation that their lamestream news sources are lying to them about the state of our economy.  Overwhelming data from various government sources including the Fed supports that today we have the best economy that people now have ever seen.  Besides the factors I’ve already cited in the last Sandbox, here are a couple more indicators.  We should know that since Trump, the 401Ks of Americans have increased 60-70%.  Under Obama and Biden they went down over 25%.  State and local government pensions have recorded record gains, where under recent Democrats they grew more underfunded.  Instead the Dems are telling our lightly-read neighbors to fix their eyes only on gas and diesel prices.  But here also these inflation adjusted prices were higher during the Biden years.  Unfortunately, Göbellian propaganda works. gjr]

Communism on the march. Reader ‘fish’ comments in the last Sandbox about Robert Reich exhorting Democrats Should “Defund Musk,” Start “Laying Groundwork To Nationalize Starlink And SpaceX”. He includes the link –

That’s not Communism, that is a guy making a point about the owner of a satellite network that he can control to try to manipulate and control how governments operate.
Did we ever find out why Starlink put a speed limit on Ukrainian drones?
Does that worry anyone but myself?

    Diesel Price vs. Inflation Comparison

Diesel fuel prices have dramatically outpaced general economic inflation over this period, driven heavily by global supply bottlenecks, refinery constraints, and geopolitical tensions.

Metric 2024 Average Most Recent Price (Oct 2026) Percentage Change
U.S. National Diesel Average $3.76 per gallon $6.28 per gallon +67%
General Inflation (CPI) Base Rate (100%) — +7.4%

Low-income and middle-income households without 401(k) investments or retirement accounts spend an estimated 11% to 18% of their gross monthly income directly on fuel prices (including gasoline, diesel, and home heating fuels).
Because lower-income earners do not route pre-tax money into retirement vehicles like 401(k)s, 100% of their gross cash is fully exposed to immediate, non-discretionary living costs. Energy researchers define a total household energy burden exceeding 6% of income as a “high energy burden”. Due to recent sharp spikes in energy markets, both demographic brackets far exceed this threshold.

So Trump’s miracle economy doesn’t work for everyone. Have wages increased 7.5% across the board?

roflmao. Just watched some video where Talarico is referring to a woman as ‘a neighbor with a uterus’.

When you argue with Paul or RH, this is what you are dealing with. It’s just more wrestling with a pig.

Somebody tell Trump he can stop bitching about lowering inflation…

The Theoretical Foundation for Forward Guidance

The most profound impact of combining Hall’s consumer behavior with Woodford’s monetary framework is the justification for Forward Guidance—the practice where central banks (like the US Federal Reserve or the European Central Bank) explicitly state what they plan to do with interest rates years into the future.
Because Woodford’s households look ahead to smooth their consumption, a central bank doesn’t actually have to cut interest rates today to stimulate the economy. Instead, by promising to keep interest rates low tomorrow, they boost households’ expectations of future wealth. According to Hall’s hypothesis, those households immediately increase their spending today.

Summarizing the Framework: The Three-Equation Model

Woodford wrapped these concepts into a neat, three-equation system that serves as the primary simulation cockpit for modern central banking:

    Equation Focus Underlying Logic
    1. Intertemporal IS Curve Aggregate Demand Hall’s Consumption Smoothing: Today’s spending depends on expectations of tomorrow’s income and current real interest rates.
    2. New Keynesian Phillips Curve Inflation Sticky Prices: Firms set prices today based on their expectations of future inflation and output gaps.
    3. Monetary Policy Rule Interest Rates The Taylor-type Rule: The central bank adjusts nominal interest rates systematically to stabilize inflation and output.

By cementing Hall’s microeconomic consumption behavior into a model with sticky prices, Woodford gave central banks a rigorous, mathematically sound way to predict how the public will react to policy changes—forever changing how global monetary policy is conducted.

Do you think your enthusiasm for the economy is shared by the millions who are on a fixed income or the families who can barely get by with both the mom and dad having to work full time just to have a place to live and food for the family.

Scenes, what’s the problem? Are you now in the camp with Fish and Bessie with fears that there might be a uterus in the men’s room?

    • “This summer, more than half our population became second-class citizens. Every one of our neighbors with a uterus became the property of the State. And nothing is more un-Christian.”
    • Context: Talarico made the remarks while discussing reproductive rights and criticizing Texas abortion restrictions through the lens of Christian teachings to love one’s neighbor.

Still hearing crickets regarding the speed limits set on Starlink recently, no opinions, everyone’s fine with it?

“GPS Selective Availability (1990–2000): To prevent adversaries from using high-precision signals, the U.S. government used a policy called Selective Availability. This intentionally degraded civilian GPS accuracy down to roughly 100 meters.”

Clinton shut down the Selective Availability option 25 years ago.

Now, it looks like the world’s richest man is playing with a similar kind of Selective Availability as he picks winners and losers on the world stage – to kiss Trump’s “fine looking ass”?

“Former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich argued that Elon Musk holds too much unchecked strategic power over global infrastructure and U.S. foreign policy, specifically citing:
    • Starlink’s Role in Ukraine: Reich pointed to Musk’s decision to restrict or control Starlink satellite services for Ukraine’s military (with Musk stating that civilian Starlink was not meant for offensive drone strikes). Reich contended that no single private individual should have the power to dictate U.S. foreign policy or critical wartime communications.
    • Heavy Reliance on Taxpayer Funding: Reich claimed that roughly 75% of Musk’s wealth and his companies’ operations are heavily propped up by government contracts—such as Department of Defense and NASA agreements—making taxpayers subsidize a private monopoly.
    • Oligarchy and Political Influence: Reich accused Musk of operating like a modern “robber baron,” comparing his economic leverage and political spending (including alleged influence in Texas politics) to an oligarchy that threatens democratic accountability.
On a late October 2026 episode of The Coffee Klatch podcast and a subsequent essay in The Guardian, Reich proposed that a future Democratic administration should “defund Musk” by cutting federal contracts and lay the groundwork to nationalize Starlink and SpaceX into public corporations. Musk strongly condemned the remarks on X, writing that “stealing companies is a serious crime” and calling for Reich’s imprisonment.”

    Thanks AI!

psul: “millions who are on a fixed income or the families who can barely get by”

I’m afraid it’s a natural side effect of fewer and fewer people doing something useful for a living, at least that’s my working theory. It isn’t like Elon Musk, one of the few truly wealthy people who is a real producer, sits on a giant pile of ham sammiches he won’t share, it’s just numbers in an account.

I’m afraid that between moving millions of third-worlders into the country, including those super-special people the Somalis, offshoring, unending growth in administrative girl-jobs, moar and moar government rules driving up prices on homes and cars, and the urge for people to be bar musicians and concert promoters rather than CNC operators, there’s simply less stuff to go around. Simply scooching around an inflating currency ain’t gonna cut it.

    Interesting tidbit,

Elon Musk has contributed approximately $445 million to $446 million to political groups and Republican causes during the 2026 U.S. election cycle.

    But George Soros!
