[From the 14apr26 WSJ – “When government rewards failure, the result is usually more failure. That’s been the story in Los Angeles, where the teachers unions on Sunday secured a rich new contract, notwithstanding lousy student performance and declining enrollment.”  For example – “Only 18% of Los Angeles eighth-graders scored proficient in math on the National Assessment of Educational Progress, compared to 27% nationwide. Then again, the district’s catawampus finances suggest its leaders are no better at math.” gjr]

Young people processed through the govt run “education” system unable to read or solve simple math is not failure for the Dems and the left. That they are indoctrinated and ignorant is the entire point. They are the desired voting base.

fish – I am crushed Mr fish; that code has been cracked numerous times in these pages over the last two decades – it is a fundamental part of Rebane Doctrine that explains so much of our country’s generational sociopolitical regression. This lament does not detract from Mr Obermuller’s reminding us again of the Left’s politically purposed corrosion of the country’s intellectual assets. Our Founders gave us a governance – “A republic if you can keep it.” – that could only be maintained by a culturally cohesive, educated citizenry. And the Democrats know it.

As usual culture warriors blame Dems for all the world’s ills…very lazy of y’all’s…

…of course they think underpaying teachers has nothing to do with it…

…high poverty schools are prevalent…why?…Trump made America great…again, just like he obliterated Iran’s nuke development…again

Key Reasons for Low 8th Grade Math Scores:

Lingering Pandemic Effects: Schools are still dealing with severe educational disruptions from 2020–2021, leading to a weak foundation in basic math concepts.

Persistent Achievement Gaps: While some higher-performing students are catching up, lower-performing students are not making significant progress, with eighth-grade math scores in 2024 showing no significant improvement over 2022 levels.

Chronic Absenteeism: High numbers of students are not consistently in class, severely limiting opportunities to learn.

Curriculum & Instruction Challenges: The 8th-grade math curriculum (e.g., Algebra I) is notoriously challenging, and teachers are often stretched thin, limiting individual support.

Socioeconomic Disparities: Students in high-poverty schools, which are prevalent, often have fewer resources and less access to advanced coursework.

Stagnant Performance: Latest testing data shows 8th-grade math scores in Los Angeles County are significantly lower than pre-pandemic times and, while showing slight improvements, many students still fall below state standards.

First of all stop saying “y’all” …you’re a silly, pompous, geriatric white guy living the whitest of California Whiteistans not an Atlanta Hip Hop artist admonishing the crowd! It just makes you look dumber than usual….difficult I know….somehow you manage!

    Second LA schools –

    .

Bizarre situation brewing in LA public schools, as reported by WSJ today Teachers and parents say schools regularly run out of cleaning supplies and toilet paper But per-student spending rose from $11.7k to $29.3k since 2014 — about 5x the rate of inflation Notably…. the district doubled spending on outside vendors and digital tools over that time period The superintendent personally received “no-bid emergency authority” to close 72% of those contracts — and nearly 70% went over budget, per WSJ (District spokesperson says increased spending is due to virtual learning, tutoring and rising costs of special ed…)

    .

Looks like another Money Laundering op for the democrats!

Per Grok: “In the 2024-25 school year, LAUSD’s average teacher salary was roughly $103,000, according to California’s Education Data Partnership.”

Which doesn’t include the high level of benefits and money set aside for pensions. Annuities are remarkably valuable.

You have to admit that the PR work done to convince people that gubmint workers are underpaid really has been something through the years.. A kind of crazy ratchet system of demanding benefits because the salary was low, and then demanding more salary because the salary is low, and then demanding more salary because the next county over makes more.

That’s how you end up with a smaller rural county with a whole buncha people making >$200k + (usually) another $75k-$100k in benefits. Of course, some of the local non-profits are equally as generous.

You do have to wonder who actually generates the wealth to pay for all this. Who knew that the smart move, outside of a FAANG job I guess, was a career in government?

There’s always the chance for a health problem. 80 year old men die every day. The local musicians don’t even seem to hold out that long.

Politically thrown out? No way. Don’t confuse your feelz with reality.

The Hungary thing looks cool to me. By the time somebody has been in office for the length of time Orban and his people were, it’s bound to be a mess. Government is essentially just the biggest corporation, with a monopoly on force, and is mostly run for the benefit of itself. I certainly wouldn’t count on the new guy, Magyar (a funny name for a Hungarian), to give you much of a mental boost as he’s no more a member of the Unlimited Immigration & Buggery Party than Orban.

RH on student performance – and there you see the arguments that Dems use to maintain the squalid performance of our public schools. It is not their fault. It’s because we don’t fund the schools properly, even though we do it at two to three times the OECD levels and pay our teachers and administrators more handsomely than any other country.

    GR on students and whatnot.

No doubt the teacher’s unions will point out that the US spends less than Luxembourg. We need to make up the gap!

As LLMs become increasingly accurate, they could tend to put the kibosh on all the nonsense people come up with. Spending and outcome. KIDS IN POOR DISTRICTS HARDLY GET ANY MONEY! Teachers are paupers. Police are paupers. ‘Food insecurity’.

The Karenocracy’s opaque cash flow will become more obvious over time to an average person.

I was just thinking about how the county government has a $125M or so salary/benefit budget in a county with 100k people. Every man jack of us pays $1200 a year just for that single thing. Oh well, at least they are rolling out another emergency system that’s different than the last emergency system that no one paid attention to.

Always fun for a laugh. Open secrets has become essentially unusable, but there is this:

roflmao. One nice thing about that site I posted is that you can see historical numbers. Not super far back, which would be really interesting, but enough to see a trend. I could be mistaken, but it looks like:

    Nevada County 2024 salary+benefits = $124M

    Nevada County 2013 salary+benefits = $64M

    Run through a CPI corrector, and $64M = $85M in 2024 dollars.

Nothing to see here. It’s for the children.

Really, neither side is a bit like the Hitler Youth, but then those are just words anymore. The history of these things is complicated and there’s no point in expecting people to understand anything beyond a meme or paragraph or two.

Heck, the Hitler Youth would be offended being compared to something like you or Barry. They’re their own deal.

Then I spent 6 months applying for jobs with no interviews because corporate America had banned White men in honor of Saint George Floyd, Patron Saint of Fentanyl. A great Twitter friend who I am indebted to forever got me a job with a 25% pay cut, and I had to work physically harder than I had in a decade. Anyway. 2.Funded by government grants donating my money.

3.Funded by extortion. YA GOTTA NICE BUSINESS THERE, SURE HATE FOR IT TO BE CALLED ‘RACIST’.
