[NYC’s Mamdani is a communist in socialist’s clothing. He is now polling at the 40+% level and sure to be the city’s next mayor. On his current Hate Trump tour he is telling his double dummies that he’s willing to work with Trump as long as the president is ready to federally subsidize his ‘affordability’ projects like free city transit rides and cheap food from city-owned grocery stores. Gerald Baker in the 12aug25 WSJ (here) posits that Mamdani may herald a new kind of class struggle – “It’s the overeducated elites, not laborers or the masses, who are getting behind socialism today.” gjr]

It’s not so far from true given the huge swing in belief systems you can see in young people, particularly males.
Of course, ‘far right’ is code for ‘practical things that everyone used to think not so long ago’.
I wonder if the NYT wouldn’t be more readable if you stuck some sort of LLM filter on the the thing that got rid of all the pearl clutching terminology exuded by female Brown University grads in coffee shops.

Blood on his greasy hands, again –
The semi-truck driver, who allegedly killed three Americans while making an illegal U-turn in Florida, failed an English language proficiency test and also failed to accurately identify highway traffic signs.
In a press release from the Department of Transportation (DOT), it was revealed that officials with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) had launched an investigation into the deadly crash in Florida, which left three people dead.
During an interview with the driver, who has been identified as Harjinder Singh, investigators administered an English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment. Singh failed the assessment and only provided “correct responses to just 2 of 12 verbal questions,” and he only accurately identified “1 of 4 highway traffic signs,” according to the press release.
“If states had followed the rules, this driver would never have been behind the wheel and three precious lives would still be with us,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a statement. “This crash was a preventable tragedy directly caused by reckless decisions and compounded by despicable failures. Non-enforcement and radical immigration policies have turned the trucking industry into a lawless frontier, resulting in unqualified foreign drivers improperly acquiring licenses to operate 40-ton vehicles.”

Not to worry….the most effective way make sure something isn’t learned is to teach it in the American Public School System.

re “Trump Ghettos” – these are detention camps in which illegal aliens are being held pending the resolution of their deportation status. By definition these are at a minimum law-breakers or worse with no intrinsic constitutional rights to any due process save immediate deportation. And where they are held in the interval are quarters more sanitary and safe than the Democrat urban ghettos that dot the land in which their minority constituents live.

Oh well, it’s an automatic response from California hippies.
I guess it’s true except for both World Wars, the US Civil War, the Russian Civil War, the hijinks of the Roman Republic and Empire, Hutu v. Tutsi., Steppe tribe expansions.
Honestly, it’s kind of hard to think of ‘religious bullshit’ wars. The Arab invasion of North Africa and Spain and a few Crusades (none of which were that big in the grand scheme of things). Netherlands vs. Spain maybe?
You have to wonder just how much history people really know. Thing is, it’s just one damn thing after another and there’s a helluva lot of it. I’d say that knowledge of the past and theories on causalities is probably the largest Dunning-Krugeresque thing everyone suffers from.

In the current experience there is no religious indoctrination per se in public schools – no prayers, liturgical citations, or sectarian lectures – that teach human transcendence. This cannot be said for leftwing union dominated schools. There is taught a constant drumbeat of how students should view the world through socialist, Marxist, or generally collectivist lenses. Evidence across the country is overwhelming for this; see for example the legions of young double dummies who firmly believe Mamdani that increasing taxes on the rich, and giving away free stuff/services will make everyone’s life better. The history kept from the poor bastards tells a starkly different story.

Perhaps more troubling for Democrats, the data suggests Democrat Party activists can no longer rely on the party’s tried-and-true methods to reverse the trend, leaving panicked party leaders and pundits unsure how to resurrect the party’s electoral prospects.
The numbers are staggering.
“Of the 30 states that track voter registration by political party, Democrats lost ground to Republicans in every single one between the 2020 and 2024 elections — and often by a lot,” the report reads. “That four-year swing toward the Republicans adds up to 4.5 million voters, a deep political hole that could take years for Democrats to climb out from.”
“All told, Democrats lost about 2.1 million registered voters between the 2020 and 2024 elections in the 30 states, along with Washington, D.C., that allow people to register with a political party,” the report adds. “(In the remaining 20 states, voters do not register with a political party.) Republicans gained 2.4 million.”
“I don’t want to say, ‘The death cycle of the Democratic Party,’ but there seems to be no end to this,” Michael Pruser, director of data science for Decision Desk HQ, told the Times. “There is no silver lining or cavalry coming across the hill. This is month after month, year after year.”
More trends paint a similarly dire picture for Democrats.
By 2024, the Republican party’s share of new registered voters nationwide “had overtaken Democrats’,” rising by nine points compared to 2018, the report details, while Democrats’ fell by almost eight percent.
Due to the makeup of Trump’s new Republican Party coalition, achieved through gains across multiple demographics, Democrats are unable to go back to the well of recruitment of racial minorities to reverse their downward trajectory. The Times report reads:
For years, the left has relied on a sprawling network of nonprofits — which solicit donations from people whose identities they need not disclose — to register Black, Latino and younger voters. Though the groups are technically nonpartisan, the underlying assumption has been that most new voters registering would vote Democratic.

Boy George, your 12:59 is a stretch. What’s this obsession with Mamdani? He’s a primary candidate on one State yet you make up all this stuff that he represents the Democratic party. In the meantime our current President springs a new batch of lies evey day and you are silent about that. Here’s examples:
“Trump sometimes emphasized that he was speaking literally, scoffing at critics who said he couldn’t end the war that fast. “I’ll get that done within 24 hours. Everyone says, ‘Oh, no, you can’t.’ Absolutely I can. Absolutely I can,” he said at one July 2023 rally in Iowa. He said at a Pennsylvania rally later that month: “Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, shortly after we all together win the presidency, we will have the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine settled. It will be settled. The war is going to be settled. I’ll get them both – I know Zelensky, I know Putin, it’ll be done within 24 hours, you watch. They all say, ‘That’s such a boast.’ It will be done very quickly.”
Here’s more:
“Fact check: It wasn’t ‘in jest.’ Here are 53 times Trump said he’d end Ukraine war within 24 hours or before taking office ”
