[“Five-minute EV charging, while ambitious, is being actively developed by companies like BYD and CATL. BYD's "Super e-Platform" promises 400 km of range in 5 minutes. CATL, with its battery technology, aims for even greater range gains in the same timeframe. This is achieved through megawatt charging and advanced battery chemistry.” This will completely change the EV landscape. I wonder why it’s not getting more press. gjr]

“NPR is decrying the Trump administration’s leadership to remove sugary energy drinks from SNAP.
The publication argues that children’s daily consumption of government-funded energy drinks is “normal.””

Naturally. Seeing as how NPR is as far removed from poor people as our local progressives, and God knows none of them have genuinely worked for a living, I can’t say I’m a bit surprised.
I guess that if you have TDS, anything goes.

From Jeff Childers C&C blog yesterday – Haven’t seen these anywhere else-
https://www.coffeeandcovid.com/p/the-bourne-coincydink-monday-june
1. Not that he’ll get any credit— a point the President himself made. But, two days ago, Business Insider Africa ran a story headlined, “Trump declares end to Rwanda–DRC conflict with historic peace agreement”…corporate media largely ignored the massive story.
The Rwanda–DRC war killed more people than any conflict since WWII. But now, instead of celebrating, it’s crickets among Trump’s critics. If ending that kind of war doesn’t merit a Peace Prize, what does? It’s almost like they don’t really care about peace. (In a separate poll, our 44th voted NO to the Peace Prize proposal)
2. The Pakistani government’s X account posted Friday, “The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis.” (Again, 44 & 46 both voted NO)
3. re Vance Boelter (the Minnesota killer of local pols) – “…claimed in a letter addressed to the FBI —to Kash Patel— that Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) asked him to assassinate Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). The one-page-and-a-half letter was described as rambling and “difficult to read,” but Boelter claimed he had been secretly trained by the U.S. Military and was asked to perform the killing so that Walz could run for Klobuchar’s Senate seat.
Police say they found the handwritten letter in Boelter’s truck.
…the media coverage has been painfully incurious. No mainstream outlet appears to be investigating any contacts or overlap between Walz and Boelter; tracing campaign donations, email records, or social media interactions; asking whether Boelter ever worked for or contracted with any state agency; checking whether Boelter’s “military training” claim has any verifiable kernel; or demanding to see the actual letter to the FBI, or whether it was logged, scanned, or buried.
Incurious indeed.

I like the last bit:
“JUSTICE JACKSON skips over that part. Because analyzing the governing statute involves boring “legalese,” post, at 3, she seeks to answer “a far more basic question of enormous practical significance: May a federal court in the United States of America order the Executive to follow the law?” Ibid. In other words, it is unnecessary to consider whether Congress has constrained the Judiciary; what matters is how the Judiciary may constrain the Executive. JUSTICE JACKSON would do well to heed her own admonition: “[E]veryone, from the President on down, is bound bylaw.” Ibid. That goes for judges too.”

I am ashamed to be an American and very sad for our country. This was just in the news:
New Orleans family says ICE detained Iranian-born woman who’s lived in US for 47 year and had no criminal record. Kashanian is married to an American citizen and has a daughter born in the U.S. Kashanian was taken into custody Sunday morning in front of her home on Woodlawn Place. According to her family, she was picking figs with neighborhood children when three unmarked vehicles pulled up around 10 a.m. and officers handcuffed her without saying a word.
Her daughter, Kaitlynn Milne, said the arrest happened within 60 seconds while she and her father, Kashanian’s husband of 35 years, were inside the home, unaware.
