[Low cost vs affordable housing is available in the re-introduction of ‘carriage houses’.  The folks in Noblesville, Indiana are discovering that “these units cost considerably less than single-family dwellings and create accessible points into and out of homeownership while preserving neighborhood character. They also have the potential to provide rental income to help property owners afford their mortgages.  Few cities and towns are immune from rising material costs and expensive land. But we control zoning and permitting. We should expand housing options without compromising community character.” gjr]

    As a classics expert, maybe he just disagrees with Hanson’s views on ancient Greece. VDH has a general attitude of tying farming and agriculture to the culture generally. If you lack experience in genuine work, it probably seems foreign.

    PaulE 425pm – It’s unfortunate that you have no other news sources which confirm the obvious incompetence of our scumbag governor. VDH on American Greatness just expands on what the whole country knows about California’s governance – it’s in the toilet. And the credibility of American Greatness far surpasses that of the NYT and the lamestream broadcast outlets as we have witnessed over the last eight years.

    As with the BLM riots in 2020, the L.A. disturbances are not spontaneous or chaotic. They have been planned, supported, and even staffed by activist organizations whose goals have nothing to do with immigration law or the plight of day laborers lingering in Home Depot parking lots.
    On the most recent episode of The Drill Down, co-hosts Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers break down these connections and follow the money to Mexican cartels, China, taxpayer-funded NGOs, and even teachers and service employee unions.
    The first incident in Los Angeles that led to the protest came when Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) served criminal warrants on a money-laundering operation in L.A.’s fashion district. That operation, as Tom Homan told MSNBC in a clip in the show, launders millions of dollars in drug money every year for the Mexican cartels.
    So, it’s not as it was presented [by the media]. This was not day laborers at Home Depot. This was actually a strike against organized crime, potential cartel activity, money laundering, and really bad dudes,” Schweizer added.
    The Mexican government chimed in with concerns over a provision in the so-called Big, Beautiful Bill that would add an additional 3.5 percent tax on remittances sent by Mexicans in the U.S. back to Mexico. Those remittances are valued at $64.7 billion a year, amounting to between 3 to 5 percent of Mexico’s total GDP. New left-wing President Claudia Sheinbaum called to “mobilize” to defeat the tax proposal.
    Then there is a shadowy tech billionaire named Neville Roy Singham, an American who relocated to Communist China and now lives in Shanghai. Singham provides massive financial support to the “Party for Socialism and Liberation,” a literal communist political party that is pro-Beijing which printed the signs carried by demonstrators. As described by Schweizer in his #1 bestselling book, Blood Money, Singham has been actively coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party for many years now.
    Another group active during the protests is something called “Union del Barrio.” Schweizer and Eggers play a clip from one of their spokesmen saying that the socialism of the Soviet Union “in its first four years” is what they support. This group also believes the entire American Southwest still belongs to Mexico.
    Another pivotal nonprofit group is called The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA),” which received $34 million in 2023, mostly from the state of California, up from $12 million it received in 2023. The group even received $450,000 in grants from the federal Department of Homeland Security during the Biden administration for “citizenship education and training.” Teachers’ unions, the Service Employees union, and others are also active in stoking the protests. A local SEIU union president was arrested for committing property damage during the riots.

    Jobs for Americans not illegals as it should be –
    The latest Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data reveals that since Trump took office in late January, all net job growth has gone to native-born Americans.
    “The President is succeeding in creating hundreds of thousands of jobs since he came into office — more than half a million jobs since he came into office — and they’re all going to native-born Americans,” Council of Economic Advisers Chair Steve Miran said.
    Compared to May last year, when Biden was still president, nearly 1.4 million more native-born Americans held jobs in May of this year, a total reversal of labor trends.
    Under President Trump, native-born workers have accounted for ALL employment gains. 💪💪
    ➡️Foreign-born employment: -195k
    ➡️Native born employment: +1,249k
    Over a similar period in Biden’s final two years in office, native-born Americans accounted for just ONE-THIRD of gains.
    Similarly, the BLS data shows that the number of foreign-born workers who have left the U.S. workforce totals about a million from March to May of this year
    “That was the biggest two-month decline in the foreign-born labor force since the early days of the pandemic,” the Wall Street Journal notes. “Some economists pointed to that decline as an indication that more unauthorized workers are exiting the labor force.”
    Coinciding with Trump’s immigration crackdown are rising wages, as occurred in his first term. For example, in May, U.S. wages rose by 0.4 percent, taking average hourly pay to $36.24.
    Oppositely, Biden’s economy was saturated with foreign-born workers, which drastically increased the labor supply, freezing wages and ensuring that nearly all net job growth went to newly arrived migrants from the southern border.
    While migrants gained more than 4.7 million jobs under Biden, employment growth for native-born Americans increased by just 645,000 jobs, research from the Center for Immigration Studies has discovered.
    Put another way, Bidenomics created 7.3 migrant jobs for every job gained by an American.
