[Argentina just revived its housing and real estate markets by eliminating rent controls.  Most people with a 3-digit IQ know that govt control of rents totally mangles the housing market, constricting supply and reducing the quality of properties already rented.  Yet both our federal and several state governments are proposing rent controls in order "to make housing more affordable" for the financially disadvantaged.  It, of course, does nothing of the sort.  So my question to all of you astute observers of the nation's political goings on is 'Where on the evil-to-butt stupid spectrum do most main street Democrats reside?' gjr]

    Here’s how Paul thinks:
    Trump cleverly planned years in advance to put in place 2 people who he knew would deny his request for protection in D.C. when Trump would spring his “insurrection”.
    Further – Trump hypnotized Pelosi into also not wanting protection as well as making sure rank and file police protection were left in the dark about FBI warnings of trouble from “certain” (their own) groups.
    Paul might well ask himself why the original group of Dems that “investigated” the Jan 6th fish fry didn’t uncover this little bit of info.
    TDS has an amazing power to blind a person to reality.

    By refusing to honor the order of their commander-in-chief, Milley and Miller should be prosecuted under the UCMJ. I am surprised that a veteran would point to Trump rather than a general, not being a direct order. It’s shameful. January 6 never should’ve happened. The only reason it happened is because Milley, Miller, Pelosi, and Bowser were concerned about optics. Optics should never be involved in security decisions.

    As far as ordering in active duty US Army troops?

    The left and the Dems pounded Trump for years as some one who would use the military for his own uses.
    Get your damn story straight, Paul – you complain Trump is a dictator and then complain he isn’t a dictator.
    Trump clearly ordered that what ever man power was thought necessary should be available.
    Now tell us that Trump was planning an “insurrection”.

    Vice President Kamala Harris gave her first solo interview Wednesday on cable news as the Democratic Party’s nominee for president, and failed to answer questions even in a friendly interview by MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle.
    When Harris tried to claim, falsely — as she has in the past — that “Donald Trump left us with the worst economy since the Great Depression” (it was, in fact, growing when he left office), Ruhle noted: “It was during COVID and employment was so high because we shut down the government, we shut down the country.” Harris then said Trump lost 200,000 manufacturing jobs before the pandemic, which is also false: manufacturing jobs rose by 450,000.
    Ruhle also fact-checked Harris’s claim — also a staple of Joe Biden’s economic speeches — that Trump’s 2017 tax cuts only benefited the rich and corporations. “He didn’t just cut corporate taxes, he cut individual taxes,” Ruhle observed.
    The MSNBC interviewer also pointed out that Harris’s plans to expand the child tax credit or to offer assistance with mortgage down payments could not be done without approval from Congress, and the help of Republicans. “If you can’t raise corporate taxes, or if the GOP takes control of the senate, where do you get the money to do that? Do you still go forward with those plans and borrow?” As Ruhle later observed, Harris did not want to answer at all.
    Harris seemed thrown by Ruhle’s often mild questions. When Ruhle asked Harris,”How do you go after price gouging without implementing price controls?” the vice president was completely stumped, and simply dodged. “Yes, I’m going to go after them,” she repeated, aiming at companies that exploit consumers, leaving the question unanswered.
    At one point, Harris made the odd observation, on the high cost of living, “Gone is the day of everyone thinking they could actually live the American dream.” It was almost an indictment of the four years she had been in office. When Ruhle pointed out that housing was often scarce because of local regulations and restrictions, Harris immediately agreed, failing to note that her own home state is one of the worst offenders, and that she has doing nothing about it.
    He’s not serious about how he thinks about some of these issues. And one must be serious, and have a plan, and a real plan, that’s not just about some talking point ending in an exclamation at a political rally, but actually putting the thought into what will be the return on the investment? what will be the economic impact on everyday people?
    Many viewers — even MSNBC’s loyal Democratic audience — may think that description applies to Harris, who failed to explain her economic plans to a sympathetic interviewer, and often resorted to talking points, or simple evasion.

    Let’s face it – Harris doesn’t need to have any kind of plan at all. The folks actually pulling her puppet strings will do all of that. They’ll load the teleprompter up with what she’s supposed to say and put stuff in front of her to sign.

    It doesn’t mean he’s innocent. It just means they’re showing what they can do to their own when their own go off script.
    What about Pelosi and Feinstein? Their husbands became fabulously wealthy after their wives assumed office. Totally coincidentally, you understand. Feinstein did have to “suddenly resign” after some questions were raised, but it was purely coincidence, you understand.
    Paul Pelosi continues on with remarkable ability to dodge exposure to companies suddenly under investigation. But they hew the party line, so they’re good.

    MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle is defending Vice President Kamala Harris for transparent idiocy after a preview clip of their interview aired on Wednesday.
    In the pre-recorded interview, Ruhle pressed Harris over where she would “get the money” to fund her economic proposals if Republicans on Capitol Hill block her plan to raise corporate tax rates.
    “Do you still go forward with those plans and borrow?” Ruhle asked, to which Harris couldn’t formulate a cogent reply.
    “But we’re gonna have to raise corporate taxes,” said the VP. “We’re going to have to make sure that the biggest corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. That’s just it. It’s about paying their fair share.”
    That wasn’t the only unscripted idiocy (though we’re guessing she had these questions in advance – the softest of softballs)… As modernity.news notes, Harris has nothing going on upstairs.
    At one point, Ruhle asked Harris why so many Americans “don’t see themselves in your plans,” to which Harris responded with a word salad about “the spirit and character of the American people,” before blathering on about her childhood.

    She should tread lightly…..she’s going to alienate TEAM EVIL’s 2nd most important constituency…..Billionaires!

    Ms. Harris has the strength, the temperament and, importantly, the values to serve as commander in chief. When she sits down with world leaders like President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, representing the United States on the global stage, I have no doubt that she is working in our national interest, not her own.

    But Trump’s running mate graciously forgave the snub, while greeting fans in the parking lot, paying for the crowd’s meals with a generous tip. The store released a statement saying he was welcome and that their employee had just been surprised by the cameras.
    As the Bard once pointed out, all’s well that ends well, until Kamala Harris gets involved, and it’s very telling.
    On Sunday, Harris’ campaign posted a video on X showing Harris being welcomed as a hero in Primanti Bros. back in August. The message was as clear as it was ugly – unlike Republicans, Democrats are welcome in polite society.
    Let’s set to one side the fact that Harris’ appearance at the Steel City staple this summer was met by widespread mockery when it was discovered her campaign had kicked out actual diners and bused in supporters to set the fraudulent scene. That’s bad enough.
    But what Harris has wrought here isn’t just the disingenuous papering of the house at a political event. She is doing real harm to Primanti Bros.’ effort to walk this situation back and make clear that everyone, of every political stripe, is welcome there.
