Last night CNN’s prerecorded 18-minute interview with Kamala Harris, with attendant training wheels Walz, was a giant nothing-burger – a disappointment but not a surprise. While Kamala was asked some decent questions, she predictably dodged all of them as did her partner in perfidy. What galled me the most was how she was allowed to bullshit her way out of the question about her manifold and desperate flip-flops on policies she championed in 2019 and her new ones with which she now apes Trump.
Her response to this line of questioning by Dana Bash was that “My values have not changed.” And I almost gagged when Bash allowed her to skate with that. Bash’s next question should immediately have been, ‘That may be, but the whole country has witnessed you doing 180s on your previously championed policies, and it will be your policies and not some ephemeral values that will impact the American people. On what new evidence did you base your policy pirouettes?’ – or something in that vein. Kamala’s lame answer again confirmed the low opinion that Democrats have of their loyal, yet demonstrably and reliably ignorant, constituencies who regularly swallow such answers with nary a qualm.
This brings me to my general complaint about the dismal state of today’s journalism that primarily includes the conservative media like Fox News. Starting with lead political anchor Bret Baier, none of them are either smart or quick enough to follow up Democrats’ stated allegations about Republicans, wrong-headed realities, etc with ‘Sir, you’ve just stated an unsubstantiated allegation to my question ‘On what did you base your claim that …?’. Please tell us again on what evidence do you base this and similar allegations you have made.’ Always ask for evidence when offered allegations.
Such a follow-up question will inevitably expose bullshit, and may even lead to a more productive discussion. Instead, our stalwarts of the Fourth Estate just calmly soldier on to their next question to receive a similarly dissembled response by the progressive pundit/politician being interviewed. And in the end, the interview has again turned into a non-interview in which the devious interviewee’s non-responses were not even exposed. We viewers (well, some of us) expect to receive such performances on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, … . But having to regularly consume them on outlets that attempt to champion the Right is downright nauseating.

He gave his followers the choice of “Donald Trump” and “Kamala Harris.”
Actor Nick Searcy quickly jumped onto the basketball billionaire’s X post and presciently predicted that the poll would not go how Cuban hoped.
Unfortunately for Cuban, a Harris supporter, Donald Trump won this poll, and not by just a little, either. Trump’s lead was double that of Harris.

I was musing about how broadcast media and ‘scientific’ salesmanship have allowed strange things to happen. Modern politicians are poor orators, poor writers, poor leaders, although it could be that Trump is a natural. There is no way in the world that George Bush II, Obama, probably Trump, would have made it in the 19th C. Kamala Harris would have been a prototypical fishwife.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign is going on defense as former President Donald Trump gains steam in blue states after Harris’s failure to achieve a post-convention bump, which most modern campaigns take for granted.
The campaign is sending Harris and her top surrogates — ticket mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and husband Doug Emhoff — to blue states after a weekend of planned swing state visits.
On Wednesday, Harris will reportedly visit New Hampshire — where she enjoyed only a four-point advantage, according to an Emerson College/WHDH survey before the convention — for a campaign event yet to be announced. Walz will be in his home state of Minnesota, where Trump has cut Harris’s lead from ten to only five points since Walz joined the ticket, according to two KTSP/SurveyUSA polls. Emhoff will reportedly cross the Potomac River for a fundraising trip in Virginia, another state where Trump has polled unexpectedly strong in the 2024 cycle.
An occasional detour during the usual long campaign season is not irregular. However, these trips are noteworthy for a nascent campaign only cobbled together after President Joe Biden’s implosion that must make every day count with barely two months before Election Day.
The blue state visits follow a weekend of planned swing state visits and, before that, a multi-day joint Harris-Walz romp through Georgia that left many pundits scratching their heads.
The unconventional scheduling is on the heels of a terrible week, highlighted by the campaign’s trashing of 13 Gold Star families — an attack that blew up spectacularly in the campaign’s face.

They were convicted of a crime that involved breaking into the Capital and illegally entering and disrupting a legislative process causing elected representatives to run to safety. Did you se the footage of them smashing in the doors that were being secured by the police? They have the right to appeal but a Presidential pardon?
