Well George the Right Wingers were losers in both France and Great Britain. This is contrary to your prediction. What happened? Here’s an interesting look at the situation.

Islam has Social, Political, Economic, Educational, Religious, Military and Legal components. It extends to every aspect of their lives. And they want it to extend to OUR lives. How did Muslims get so powerful when they were dirt-poor as late as the 1950s?
OIL. With our money. We made them rich. While money isn’t everything, it sure can buy most things. And of course, Joe Biden wants us to quit producing much of our own oil, thereby helping certain parts of Islam acquire more wealth. An uninformed old man.

“How did Muslims get so powerful…”
I don’t think that they changed. We did. They’re just taking advantage of that fact. It doesn’t seem to me that oil revenue is the driver here, it’s something broken in the West. From where I sit, the real madness started around 25 years ago, not with money flowing to ARAMCO.
You know, it might all just be something super simple but effective at work. An aggressive traditional culture will tend to overcome a gracile one. Maybe it’s just the growth in political power of unmarried women.

I spent a few minutes looking at French election results, and decided it was all too complicated for a mere human to understand.
One question though, why does every MSM source refer to Le Pen’s party as ‘far-right’ while their counterparts are merely ‘left’.
I’m not at all sure what right or left means in France, aside from immigration policy I suppose. I suspect that in France ‘far-right’, aside from immigration, is left of Gavin Newsom.

”Biden succeeded because he made toeing the party line his life’s work. Like all politicians whose egos dwarf their talents, he ascended the greasy pole by slavishly following his party wherever it led … Finally—in the ultimate act of partisan servility, he became Barack Obama’s vice president, the summit of achievement for those incapable, yet loyal: the apex position for the consummate ‘yes man’”.
“But then, just as he was ready to drift into a comfortable and well-deserved obscurity, his party needed a front man … They sought a loyal and reliable figurehead, a flag of convenience, under which they could sail the progressive vessel into the deepest reaches of American life — on a mission to advance statism, climate extremism and self-lacerating wokery. There was no more loyal and convenient vehicle than Joe”.

Read the whole thing…..you’ll understand why Punchy is so utterly devoted to Biden.

“they could sail the progressive vessel”
Are all Democrats ‘progressives’ in the sense of the unlimited-immigration, Sam Brinton, chest-feeding, courthouse bombing, variety?
It’s hard for me to grok mass movements, it’s tough enough to keep your head above water generally, but maybe France is a good model.
    Three large parties…
    Traditional (conservative)
    Bureaucratic (liberal)
    Insane (progressive)
If people naturally slide into one of those three, it’ll tend to balance out since they market the groups accordingly, moving positions as needed.
The interesting part occurs when the inevitable coalition (Bureaucratic + Insane in the modern world) occurs. A deal with the Devil is made and you start to take on the Devil’s accoutrements.

” why append “ragsheet” to their newspaper?”
Isn’t rag paper the good stuff?
I figure they’re all ragsheets, in the olden days slang sense (does anyone under the age of 40 know what a ‘ragsheet’ is?), ever since 100% of newsrooms became editorial generators and clickbait factories. ‘News’ is generated by people on a mission. It’s for the children.
Feeding slogans to the hoi polloi is a full time job, and naturally LLMs are tailor-made for generation of same.
The Union is a wonderful example of end stage newspaper. Endless ‘Other Voices’ screeds autogenerated by people whose input is internet headlines. You get your writing for free, and it’s a great big feedback loop of political verbiage.
I’ve always been a little suspicious of reading as a mechanism for understanding, as opposed to doing, but given that most people don’t even do that, we’re all tapping into the True Source. The Wisdom of the Mob gives you decimal time and the guillotine, collectivization, oft-repeated Trump hoax of the day from the Democrats, and omnipresent Pride Flags. It does make life more exciting.

    This web site is hilarious:
“Conservatives are spreading the claim that President Joe Biden admitted to sleeping with another man’s wife during his speech at NATO’s 75th anniversary summit on Tuesday.”
    Just conservatives?
“In clips circulating on social media, Biden is alleged to have made the remark while referencing NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. But he seems more likely to have said something else.”
Alleged? If that’s not a fake vid then yes he did say that.
And if it’s more likely he said something else, then what was it he did say?
Trying to debunk a “fake” vid this way doesn’t seem to work.
Just makes the whole issue worse.

    I don’t know.
    What’s a ‘supporter’?
I think I might have linked to something there once, but I seem to remember their being paywall (like all the relatively useless WSJ links that get posted).
So…short answer. I probably don’t look at it twice a year.
Here’s yer basic problem. In ‘progressive’ world, you are not a reader, you are a ‘supporter’ (or ally) or an enemy. It shows how f’ing valueless a ‘news director’ is in 2024. A ‘news director’, whether it’s the NYT or KVMR, is short for ‘person with no direct experience, but is full of theories about the world and uses a broadcast megaphone to help the cause’. It’s barroom BS with a large amplifier.
To me, that sort of thing is a betrayal of public trust. It’s like a judge with a strong political POV. It happens, but it’s bad form.

    “thar’ be a paywall!”
    On which one?
(a tip for those who don’t know. If you hit a paywall, go to archive.is and stuff the link into the ‘saved snapshot’. It’ll often work.)
While I was chewing over the concept of ‘supporter’ for a news site, be it the National Enquirer or the Christian Science Monitor, and the implication that you view the media world purely as Team R (Hitler) and Team B (good), I got to thinkin’ about paywalls.
It’s funny how you could use (weaponize? too often used…) a paywall to push a narrative. Things you want the reg’lar folks to read? No paywall. Things you don’t want them to read? Paywall. You just know that the MSNBCs of the world use that metric among others. I should look to see if anyone has analyzed the presence of the things depending on story or site.

“Allowing non-citizens to vote in elections is unconscionable and un-American – it incentivizes more illegal immigration, rewards Biden’s open border policies, and, worst of all, it undermines the Constitution and American’s ability to choose their representatives,” Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX) said in a written statement. “American citizens – and only American citizens – have the sacred right to vote in elections in the United States.”
A 2022 YouGov survey found that 65 percent of Americans back requiring proof of citizenship to vote in elections, which included 48 percent of Democrats, 62 percent of swing voters, and 88 percent of Republicans.

He’s perfectly capable of doing whatever he’s been doing for at least another year or so. As Dr Jill told him: “you answered every question!” Don’t forget the “big boy” press conference coming up – it’ll be great.
It’s starting to look like “follow the money”.
Only he and Harris can use that pile of money and as bad as Biden is doing, Harris polls worse. Just keep him propped up for a few more months and drag him across the finish line. After that, it won’t matter.

Another scenario might be this: Dump Harris and add somebody more popular as VP who is also pleasing to The Bureaucracy. Everyone votes for Biden while, hint hint, he’ll abdicate after the coronation.
Net result is that nothing changes, the people in power stay in power, we continue augering in. The forces of DEI can continue fighting over the carcass, unlimited importation of the Third World continues, investment bankers/wine moms/internet tycoons/men-in-dresses further entrench.

Can Trump solve this kind of thing? Probably not. Maybe the crazy is just too deeply embedded in the modern West.
Probably nothing is going to rid us of these troublesome people except for extreme hardship, and that will happen on it’s own schedule. While it managed to produce a few things of value, the Soviet Union ran almost 100 years on a substrate of crazy and individual self-interest. There’s a lot of dying in a country.
