[Good news department. It turns out that if you drink both modestly and regularly, then all kinds of health benefits can accrue to you. For most men that means no more than two drinks (wine, beer, whiskey) a day, and no more than one drink a day for women – a drink contains about 12-14 grams of alcohol. Hallelujah! (More here) gjr]

From USA Today:
The San Jose Police Officers’ Association has fired its executive director after she was charged with attempting to illegally import synthetic opioids.
Joanne Segovia, who headed the association, was arrested last week on charges she attempted to unlawfully import valeryl fentanyl, a synthetic opioid. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
“up to” in Cali stands for 0 to 20. Since it’s so close to SF, lean toward zero. Though she isn’t a policeman, just XO of the Assoc.

Yes, the same group that polices language, forces ideological training down the throats of faculty and students, and mandates loyalty oaths from faculty candidates will be in charge of administering the system of informers. Biden green energy policy strengthening China, endangering national security, report finds
Due in large part to government intervention, the United States is becoming progressively more reliant on electric vehicles (EVs) and nonnuclear renewable energy sources for its transportation and energy needs,” writes Thomas Wackman, a fellow at IER. “These technologies rely on a large input of rare earth metals and other mined elements, particularly lithium and cobalt, the supply of which is dominated almost entirely by the People’s Republic of China.”
The Biden administration’s “ongoing war” against domestic U.S. oil and gas production, the report continues, puts America’s energy security, and its national security, in real jeopardy.”

Aside from the odd bit of education, I’d say that the mission of a university is to produce a pipeline of apparatchiks to run a country. It’s a funny thing to think about, chicken/egg. Does a country reflect it’s educational system or versa visa or both?
The Fall of Western Civilization will be a real puzzle for the Chinese or HAL-9000 to think about. Is it all about the suicide from WWI? Feminization of the ruling classes? Ethnic and cultural diversity? Something to do with post WWII industrialization or the internet? I don’t have a strong sense of the thing.
In the meantime, hopefully some Saint Leibowitz is doing what needs done. The only thing worse than collapse is to be forgotten.

Far-Left Climate Activist Resigns In Disgrace Over Sexual Misconduct Accusations at Indigo Girls-Backed Org: Report
LaDuke said in a Facebook post that she was responsible for failing to protect Campbell from sexual harassment before claiming that the organization was the victim of “colonial carceral court systems.”
“The court system is a punitive, white, carceral system that targets Native Peoples,” LaDuke claimed. “In such a forum, it was unsurprising that the result would be a staggering and disproportionate fine against Honor the Earth.”……
“These are people that spend all their time telling other people how to live: what their values should be, where they should be allowed to utilize natural resources, deciding who’s ‘good’ and who’s ‘bad,’” the official said. “Then come to find out, they’re letting this poor girl get sexually harassed and not doing anything about it. Good luck maintaining the moral high ground.”
Another former Trump White House official who also dealt with tribal issues told The Daily Wire, “The tribal chiefs were great, always very positive and advocating for their constituents.”
“They thought this Winona Duke lady was a fraud, a bad person,” the official said. “Sure enough, they’re being proven right.”

The crazy continues apace. I was wondering how long we would still be able to go to the hardware store and ask for a female pipe fitting.
“The guidance, for example, tells federal employees to avoid using the terms “blacklist” or “whitelist” because of the racial connotations and also cautions against “using terms that assign a gender to inanimate objects, such as male/female connectors.”
Blacklist and whitelist don’t have racial implications and male/female connections indicate a very, very, basic fact of life that animals all understand, but seems to be beyond the understanding of the new class of humans we have become.
And fer God’s sake don’t describe a small amount of something as “niggardly” or wonder what happened to a large amount of something disappearing as if it went into a “black hole”.
Remember that most all Dems and leftys have little to no education and are prone to get squinty-eyed and upset over terms they don’t understand.

“He says he believes that the evidence he [the detective] would’ve presented to the grand jury would have possibly led to them not even indicting [Perry],” Patrick said.
The detective maintains that Garza’s conduct was not only unlawful, but bordered on criminal conduct of witness tampering.

‘California LGBT Activists Call for Taking Children From Parents’
“Snuck into AB 665, legislation ostensibly about extending mental health care to lower-income California youths, is a provision that effectively would terminate parents’ rights over their kids as soon as they turn 12.
The California Family Council warns that this bill “would allow children as young as 12 years old to consent to being placed into state funded group homes without parental permission or knowledge.”
As long as a mental health professional signs off on it, the kids can go to such a group home—and it doesn’t matter what their parents think.“

Yah, I’d heard about that.
Given the propensity for modern K-12 teachers to politically program students, a funny thing since I didn’t even know the marital status of any of mine not named ‘Miss Something’, you get a whole soup-to-nuts feeder system.
Really, it’s the kind of thing that even reaches into private schools, the State and your 12 year-old’s opinion runs the roost.
Dunno how a person avoids it besides simply moving elsewhere. No point in being mad about it. I wonder where the first Diversity Training Center will get set up, unless they simply stick the kids into one of those for-profit group homes.

Insights from Sasha Stone
https://sashastone.substack.com/p/bidens-america-a-society-that-has
“Just two years into the Joe Biden presidency, it has become abundantly clear that the only people actively trying to destroy this country are the Democrats and the cult that has overtaken them.
How much worse could it possibly get than a former President of the United States indicted in the city that made him on a case that no one believes in good faith was legitimate? No government that believes in America would ever do such a thing to rip this country apart, especially after COVID, after the Summer of 2020, and after January 6th.
But this is no ordinary government. This is a government that has given up the American experiment, opting instead for a bloated Superstate with its own permanent propaganda press, show trials, a vast network of surveillance to police its own citizens, and a society headed for collapse.
I believed the lie that Trump brought the chaos and that if Biden won, things would calm down. But now we know it wasn’t Trump at all. It was them.”

That’s a good op-ed and I think it’s important to differentiate between “JoeBiden” and “Joe Biden’s Presidency” since, to all appearances, he’s just a figurehead. The Woke Religion is still waiting for it’s Messiah to really kick into high gear. I think it’s easier to get a mob to follow a personality than a philosophy if you really want kinetic activity.
Given the enormous amount of grift and status seeking in the Woke Community, there are plenty of contendahs, but nobody who can really run a mic. Women, beta males, men-in-dresses typically are out of that picture due to a lack of stage presence and authority and require a supporting organization to buoy them up.
Conservatives will always be at a disadvantage since they combine a ‘leave me alone’ sort of stance (arguably, abortion is the exception, but that stems mostly from a worthwhile argument on the instant a person receives some kind of human status, ability to breath is somewhat besides the point) with the need to justify ‘the way things were’ rather than ‘the glorious utopia we can promise you’.
To be repetitive about it, what I find frightening is the newfound ability to surveil and analyze the population combined with more science in the propaganda biz. This time it really is different, you simply can’t wait 50 years for the madness to evaporate.
Maybe that’s why E. Musk wants a Mars colony. He can see a clock ticking.

article pointed to be Mr. fish’s post.
“For several reasons, the election of Brandon Johnson as mayor is the most important in Chicago for generations and the most politically salient urban election this century. First, it represents the triumph of the hard Left not on one of the coasts but in the heart of the Midwest, in a city known for its pragmatic, if machine-Democratic, politics. Second, it displays the raw power of public-sector unions in Illinois and in today’s Democratic Party. Johnson was not just supported by the unions; he is the paid agent of the most powerful and radical of them all—the Chicago Teachers Union. Third, Johnson’s victory will have national reverberations for years to come because his administration will test the Left’s attempt to transform urban policy.”
https://www.city-journal.org/chicagos-hard-left-choice
Question: Does a left shift in large cities imply a right shift in the countryside? or (perhaps more likely) is the motion more like:
. City goes Left
. Liberals escape from city, move to countryside.
. Countryside goes Left.
. City is backfilled with new immigrants from 3rd world countries
wash, rinse, repeat.
I only see one outcome there.

It seems to me that it isn’t even that complicated. If the US is going to go down a rathole of crazy, everyone simply readjusts and continues. BRIC will grow, de-dollarization continues, cultural firewalls are set up to avoid the US Left cause o’ the week. Things change, but then they always have.
Now, if things fall apart and the center cannot hold, some folks who could stand to get their act together are the States. I’m not suggesting breaking off a piece of rural California or Oregon and starting the State of Jefferton, but simply becoming more independent.
If you allow banks and BlackRock to run your world, you are subject to the whims of people in a few cities. Same with running federally funded schools, worrying about highway funds. The folks in flyover need to smile and nod but think about independence in a thousand small ways.
A combination of financial planning and lawfare is in order.
