re: George Boardman (yes, that one).
Excellent column in today’s Der Union. Good job. It’s always best to old-man-at-clouds at local events rather than national ones in any case as more (a lot more) expertise is brought to the matter.
What did Mr. Boardman have to say…..? I’ve managed to completely avoid the Pennysaver of the Pines as I promised local Nevada City rapper “C-Nile” a couple of months ago!

Let me get this straight.
Republicans in Wyoming, Tennessee, and Idaho are actively as a majority in 2023, voting against a MINIMUM age of 16 for marriage,
and you don’t think that’s a cause for concern?
And all you have as a response are whataboutism’s and strawman talking points?
You realize there is no federal age limit, but only Republicans are actively fighting to establish a 16 year minimum, right?

I’m never sure what kind of craziness typepad is going to do to a link.
Basically, I’d say that governments and utility monopolies don’t do a bit more than they have to and usually are unprepared for often-predictable emergencies.
When you’re the largest employer in the area, naturally there’s plenty of govbucks for this:
https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=6409
From where I sit, an awful lot of the stuff that really matters when things get sticky, aside from law enforcement, is dealt with like so:
. Have a meeting with PowerPoint slides and a talking stick, perhaps involve a ‘non-profit’.
. Ask for outside grant money.
. Hire a private contractor to do the work.
with endless variations. Really, an intelligent and honest man with a checkbook could do an awful lot of it, but finding one of those in Grifter America is practically impossible.
As a side note, it’s funny to what extent KNCO serves as the county government’s Pravda. Those guys trip over themselves with all the Good News.

lol. Dude, are you some sort of bot?
I can act like one too.
So why is the minimum age in California and Mississippi 0? All you need is a judge and a parental OK to marry a 4 year old. Is that what you dream of in the dark hours of the night?
My last response on the matter since it’s probably the stupidest and most phoned-in gotcha argument with a dummy I’ve ever seen on these pages.

I’ve watched a few Macgregor youtube talks. He seems pretty convincing but my guess is that no one’s intelligence on the matter is worth a damn.
It is interesting how the Progressives and The State have gone all-in, letting their Ukrainian Flag Fly, while producing the worst of all possible outcomes…a stalemate.
Thing is, when you are trying to remake a culture, any tool is a good tool. Foreign war propaganda, pandemics, street armies burning, students shouting down passive faculty, it’s all been done before and will be done again. There’s wimmen, gold, and status to be had and it’s always quicker and easier to conquer than to build.

A very strong point of disagreement….for once. The Boardman article is mediocre at best, already written 100 times by 100 different folks here. I find nothing noteworthy in his latest piece. Nothing. Boardman has done much better than that. But, that is just my opinion and not a slam on GB.
If Boardman really wanted to write a Attaboy Good Job piece, he would have dug right below the surface and wrote how the California Public Utilities Commission rejected PG&E’s 2.4 billion dollar request to upgrade infrastructure (including UG lines) and forced PG&E to invest 3 billion in foolhardy renewable resources. That all came out during the Paradise fire, started by a tower that had outlive is life by 20 plus years.
But, go ahead and blame PG&E for what the PUC told PG&E what they can spend money on and what they cannot.
And what is this crap? “Fernandez and Councilmember Adam Kline both said PG&E should credit the accounts of those who were without power.” WTF?? When your meter is not running, you do not get charged for electricity. Just like some prepared folks throw the main breaker before going on a two week vacation.
I don’t blame Boardman for that harebrained messed up Nirvana Shitty thinking. I give him kudos instead for reporting it. Boy, those council member act like they are on food stamps waiting in line for their free Obamaphone before heading over for their free Gold Country Stage passes.
All is not lost. Another kudo to Boardman for exposing this whinny twat. Go back to Berkeley, you stink ass! From Boardman’s center stripe:
“A WOMAN on social media said she is going to sue her Realtor for not telling her it snows up here, and demanded to know why her private road wasn’t plowed.”
Sounds like the whinny shit for brains on Manion Canyon. Probably a KVMR volunteer disc jockey.

Cool. It’s more interesting than arguing about marriage law.
“The Boardman article is mediocre at best, already written 100 times by 100 different folks here.”
The difference is that it’s in the newspaper. It was nice to see someone push back a bit. Hoping he sticks to local issues rather than his feelz about national ones.
“WTF?? When your meter is not running, you do not get charged for electricity.”
My guess is that (I hope) they meant that they awarded some fundage based on power outage, rather than the $200 random cards. Lost food, business, etc. I’ll throw out a different plan. PG&E allows people to buy ‘lectric insurance. Pay for it, you get some dinero for every hour you are down. The pasty guy could have used that.
Generally, I’d say that areas with shitty power uptime and quality should probably pay higher rates in order to improve the situation…or not care. If a grid wants to bury their lines, they pay for it.
“and demanded to know why her private road wasn’t plowed.””
You know, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll bet that the disclosures glossed over that fact if it was mentioned at all.
You can argue that a decent quality set of facts about a purchased property should include clearly spelling out county road maintenance, historical snowfall, historical outages, utility costs. A person can take the side of ‘well you dummy, you should have checked’ or ‘people are stupid, we should give them information’. In the latter case, those are trivial numbers to produce.

No wonder newspapers are in decline –
Headline: “Teen dies in Menifee after gun accidentally discharges during horseplay, police say .”
Really? In the actual article:
“Jesse Duncan, 19, pulled the trigger with a shot striking a 17-year-old in the abdomen, police said.”
Also:
“Investigators said the teens did not believe the gun was loaded.”
Had to be the gun’s fault. The evil manufacturers produced a dangerous weapon that obviously had no regard for the teens’ lived experiences or their narratives, or feelings.
Reality is such a bitch.

Well, Boardman moved from the gated community of LOP in North Auburn up Banner Mountain. But, he still carries his SF State values. That idea of putting snow plows on the front of Waste Management trucks made me smile. Warmed the cockles of me weary heart. Yep, Waste Management trucks deliver to Boardman. ;’.
The garbage trucks haul garbage. They are not in the road clearing business, neither in the snow pushing business.
That is the same kind of idea that dearly departed Doug Keachie, RIP, would have come up with, roflmao. Idiots.
And propane trucks should carry chainsaws and removed fallen trees too! How about all those 18 wheelers hauling goods and produce across our land. They should do the work of the DOT as well with snow blowers attached in front. What possibly could go wrong???
Garage trucks’ mission is to pick up garbage. Propane trucks mission is to deliver propane. The real solution to Boardman’s ideas is for…wait for it…is for Mr. Boardman to buy himself a dozer and clear out the road himself. That is a real solution. Waste Management trucks with snow plows? What an idiot. And they already spy on what you put in your garage cans in the Bay Area. If they find a recyclable (California CRV) in your regular garage can, then the Frisco Poop police will find you. He is just bringing his Frisco values up to forested mountains. Wonder how many used hypos he tosses in his cans?
Actually, I gotta cut Boardman some slack. His granddaughter (I believe he once wrote) went through school to be a teacher. My condolences to Mr. Boardman and family. Man, that must have been a big heartbreak. Terrance McAteer also wrote previously that his daughter was going off to be a school teacher. The heartbreak must be incredible. My condolences to the McAteer family as well. You never know when life throws you those curveballs. Breaks my heart for them.
Some folks get real grumpy when they lose power and their ability to heat oatmeal with their prune juice and watch old Bonanza reruns. Some of us take it all in stride. Like, this ain’t my first rodeo. I have taken up reading the Sheriffs Dispatch Log. All the 911 calls coming in. On certain days recently, it seemed like half, if not more than half, of the calls to the County 911 dispatchers were dropped calls. From Combie Road to the forested areas. So yeah, Boardman was right about our “Tinker Toy infrastructure”.
“Aside from our Tinker Toy infrastructure that hampers our ability to communicate effectively and respond to life-threatening events, emergency response personnel spent way too much time dealing with residents who ignore early warnings, fail to prepare properly for oncoming storms, and have to be rescued from their own clueless behavior. that hampers our ability to communicate effectively and respond to life-threatening events, emergency response personnel spent way too much time dealing with residents who ignore early warnings, fail to prepare properly for oncoming storms, and have to be rescued from their own clueless behavior.”
I have to take in account that things have changed. We have grown soft, soft, soft. Got too comfortable. My old boss called me the other day. Haven’t talked to him for about 8-9 years. He told me that they do not let the service dudes or trouble shooters carry chains with them anymore. Boy, that’s what I call soft. Instead of being out in it in foul inclement weather, they just cancel the calls and not roll anymore. No chains? Pussies. Pussies with soft hands. Of well. Sign of the times. When I think of this area’s forefathers taking block and tackle to lower covered wagon down the long rock face of Yuba Gap….well, those were some tough men and women. Now days some want Waste Management Trucks to push snow for them to make a pickup. Or in Boardman’s case, to make a delivery. Angry old white dudes are the worse. Grump whiners.

…which is always presented as ‘IT KEEPS PEOPLE FROM PUTTING BAD BAD THINGS IN THEIR RECYCLING’.
You know damned well that they plan on selling the information. Pics of your garbage attached to an address have real value and no concept of privacy attached. Next step is to break up the bags in the truck with an agitator, better to find out your cereal brand my dears. Maybe require clear trash bags, mark my words.
I thought the notion of putting a blade on the garbage truck was kind of charming, I’d stick a propane tank on the thing and as you pick up trash you lighten the propane load. Easy peasy. Dunno if this is worse than using pickup trucks with blades as localities without the right gear tend to do.
In any case, anyone who teases the county for their self-congratulatory tone is OK by me for the moment. Next up is giant award for whoever thought up the fire-zone-number-that-no-one-remembers codes for when that happens next.
I don’t mind if the gubmint provides little in the way of emergency stuff, just don’t charge me so much. Being both fat and skint at the same time is a funny predicament for public services.

Oh, Keachie is still going at it dunking it out with Michael Kesti on Dougie’s own Nevada County Peeps—Political! Boy, he is having ball mixing it up with the R’s and driving them away. Actually, I got a new respect for Michael Kesti carrying the colors for Team Irredeemables.
Just calling Dougie out. He ain’t dead and I just do not have it in me to off the SOB.
But, considering the last time he came over here using his real name and could not figure out how to log into Rebane’s Ruminations….well, why be mean to the man as he is being put out to pasture. Whatever brains cells he has left, it sure ain’t two.
I did figure out why/how Doug from the Del Oro Stormtrooper Days was having trouble with logging in here. On my one device I don’t use much anymore cause the touch (and typing) is all messed up and off by a line or two on keypad, I kept hitting Typepad somehow and that was asking me to log in. Mystery solved. I told Dougie at the time that the password was PASSWORD. Wonder if he tried lower case instead. Lavender the AVMan Odlaw who always uses his real name and never a sock puppet. He is so precious.
You may not remember but when Dougie first arrived on the scene here after retirement from being the hall monitor from a prestigious Berkeley High School (Assistant to the Assistant to the Assistant School Principal, he was over on the old Union page bitching and whining about credit card rates and highway robbery and the credit card rates were just too damn high! Think he put a Winnebago on the credit card they way he kept carrying on and on and on. Blaming the credit card companies and banks for his foolish financial decision. He is sooo aborable.
Douglas Keachie, RIP. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Did like how you…er..some anonymous person(s) wrote that great review for his now defunct wedding photographer business. 🙂

“Does a drag show preserve a single thread of human dignity? I think not. As a performance of exaggerating aspects of womanhood (sexuality, femininity, gender), drag shows stereotype women in cartoon-like extremes for the amusement of others and discriminate against womanhood. Any event that diminishes an individual or group through representation is wrong,” Wendler wrote.

Rather short and sweet. Q: What has Biden done to fix our nation’s problems? What is Biden currently doing to fix our nation’s pressing problems?

The article is mostly BS and the comments demonstrate how lefty bobble-heads swallow this crap hook, line and sinker:
“The only hospital in this Idaho city plans to shut down its labor ward because of shortages and ‘bills that criminalize physicians’”
Of course there are no laws of any kind in Idaho that “criminalize doctors”. It’s pretty clear that if you are a doctor making boat loads of money performing abortions and the state you live in bans abortions on demand, then I would expect you to re-lo to a baby-butcher state. If you actually read the whole article, it becomes clear that there is another very important reason this particular hospital has decided to shut down their maternity ward.
“The statement noted that the hospital only delivered 265 babies and admitted under 10 pediatric patients last year.”
Ah.
And how much does it cost the hospital to keep open this ward and maintain all the highly expensive and specialized equipment with this small (and declining) base of patients?
So much misinformation and so many lies.
All made easier by the schools cranking out legions of uneducated morons clutching diplomas the graduates can’t read.

Old news to most here, new news for the rest. Not a bad thorough article, start to finish. Only the arrogant and ignorant lefties seem to care. No use even dialog if with them. A wolf does not care what the sheep think.
“The only potential speculated crime that could be alleged here would be a violation of campaign finance law, according to one scholar, a charge that the Justice Department has already declined to bring,” Jordan wrote.”

No surprise here. The Far Left always had a big anti-Semitism problem, yet our Dems never viewed it as a problem.
THE DAILY CHART: DEMOCRATS AND ANTI-SEMITISM
It’s by now an iron law than leftist campus fads eventually come to define Democratic Party mainstream opinion. As we know, anti-Semitism is sharply on the rise in the U.S., following more than 20 years of campus agitation to legitimize anti-Semitism. Gallup has a shocking new poll out showing that for the first time, Democrats are more positive to Palestinians than to Israel.

re: Lanny Davis.
I did like this phrase:
“But he insisted he did not lie to Cooper and instead “unintentionally misspoke.” A CNN spokesperson told BuzzFeed the news outlet stands by the original reporting.”
Truth is, you can’t go far wrong by assuming that everyone in a position of power is a crook to some extent, most notably when they are clawing their way up a government status ladder.
In local news, the Harridan Patrol appears to have been out, but someone needs to give a brotha a hand here. What exactly are they waving little signs for, in their strong woman wayz?

Are the banks not allowed to invest in energy stocks? A quick look at a 10-Q shows just how tiny a bit of BofA’s portfolio that is. Not lend money to energy companies? This last is an interesting angle to modern times, ‘Bankfare’ is definitely a thing alongside ‘Lawfare’. Maybe not allow energy employees to get mortgage loans? Enquiring minds want to know.
I’m thinking a county-wide moratorium on fossil energy might be the thing. Cut PG&E ‘lectric imports by 50%. No gasoline, diesel, propane, butane, or natgas shall enter the county. I can sit back and laugh and laugh as the ants roil around. Naturally, the ladies mit signs are the population absolutely least able to deal with sketchy situations. Let ‘er rip I say.
Dunno how you escape the aggravations from idiots. Even the NYT crossword today was chock-a-block full of black civil rights leaders as it’s main clue set, me needing education and all. At least the homeless people have the excuse of drug abuse or mental infirmities for making my life a little worse.
