[RCP numbers just out on Bumblebrain’s overall approval rating – drumroll please – 25% approve, 61% disapprove.  This is lowest approval rating ever for an American president.  We have a few select readers who should take special note of this rating on arguably the most incompetent and worst performing president the republic has ever suffered under.  And then to demonstrate once more the intellectual capacity of Democrat politicians, Sen Maggie Hassan (D-NH) announced from the Senate floor that she doesn’t have to suffer high fuel costs, because she drove from New Hampshire to DC in her EV, and didn’t have to worry about stopping at any gas station charging astronomically high fuel prices.  You see, charging your EV batteries is free, and that’s how you fight inflation.  Reminds me of the Dem congressman who was worried at a committee hearing that a Pacific island would “tip over” if too many of our troops were stationed on a military base there.  gjr]

They are prepared to be arrested much like the protestors in the Civil Rights movement. So Gregory since we both agree that those who attempted and succeeded in shutting down the Capitol should be arrested for Seditious Conspiracy what should the penalty be for Trump if he assisted in the planning and indeed promoted the shutdown?

You are confusing the person accused of possibly attacking Kavanaugh, who turned himself in after admitting mental illness with the proposed protest outside the SCOTUS. There is no connection between the two. There is no evidence of the protestors threatening assassination. of any SCOTUS member. Correct me if I am wrong.

It was not scheduled… it just happened, according to YubaNet, it was larger than what it would have been but for the system automagically shutting down adjacent grids… which then all had to be inspected before being reenergized. When helicopters started flying along the powerlines this morning I knew it would come back soon.
Wind wasn’t blowing, no red flags out… they should have just turned the grid back on.

What we do know George is that dozens chanted Hang Pence during the break in. Also Trump is quoted supporting the idea
“While a violent mob attacked the Capitol, equipped with a gallows for his vice president, President Donald Trump endorsed the crowd’s chants of “Hang Mike Pence” when speaking to his advisors, according to the Jan. 6 committee.
“Maybe our supporters have the right idea,” Trump said, according to committee Vice Chair Rep. Liz Cheney. “Mike Pence deserves it.
Cheney also said, “President Trump believed his supporters at the Capitol … and I quote… ‘were doing what they should be doing.’ This is what he told his staff as they pleaded with him to call off the mob, to instruct his supporters to leave.”
There will be more testimony under oath as the hearings go on supporting this.
    https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/mike-pence-deserves-trump-jan-6-committee-1365784/
Cheney added that videos from the committee will show White House staff speaking about how Trump refused to tell the mob to go home. “Trump was yelling and really angry at advisors who told him he needed to do something more,” Cheney said.”

    George
By definition the Jan 6 event intended to break in the Capitol and disrupt the proceedings and there were examples of the crowd chanting “hang Pence.” You cannot deny that. That’s the difference. Blocking entrance does disrupt the SCOTUS but there’s no evidence they intended to break in and no evidence they intended to cause bodily harm or murder. They were also willing to experience the legal consequences much like those that did sit ins during the civil rights movement. If you have additional evidence let me now and I’ll check it out. Either way both demonstrations and actions should be willing to suffer the legal consequences because they are knowingly breaking the law.

PaulE 242pm – No arguments about suffering the “legal consequences because (both) are knowingly breaking the law.” It’s what law did the J6 demonstrators break, and under what aegis were they acting out their frustrations. Both demonstrators carried signs indicating bodily harm to Pence and Kavanaugh. Were these serious, or were they equivalent to baseball fans furiously shouting to ‘Kill the umpire!’?
The J6 demonstrators inside the Capitol clearly wanted to and did disrupt the certification proceedings, just as the Kavanaugh home demonstrators intended their threatening presence to influence the justice’s vote. Both against existing laws.

Aha, the ole copy and paste. Sounded familiar. Sounded like O Drunk 30 pm.
Well, if several hundred men and women could take over the US Government, that tells me what a sorry state of affairs the security of Capitol Hill (the Capitol Police) and the one responsible for the security of the Capitol Building (Nancy Pelosi) is. What a scandalous sorry state of affairs. Hundreds of unarmed people can bring down the Greatest Nation on Earth. Amazing. Tell me more.
The Proud Boys were video taped coming from the south. The Trump rally was from the north. I saw about a dozen men…first six and then some stragglers. It’s on tape. If 20 men could take over the US government, then that’s what I call a Whiskey Rebellion on Saturday night.
So, if Trump did not instigate the riot with his speech, then that means he must have pre-planned it. Which one is it? Spontaneous combustion or premeditated?

Any estimation on the number of Proud Boys that invaded the Capitol is that there were hundreds involved and they arrived early to pave the way.
Here’s a link to video that documents that. Their strategy was to bust through early to allow access to the mob that Trump inspired at his rally and indeed promised to be a part of.
