National Propaganda Radio did a hit piece on Oath Keepers yesterday morning, labeling them as a “radical right, anti-government paramilitary organization”.  The highly biased progressive slant presented was in line with today’s lamestream narrative trying to make the case that the 6jan21 Capitol riot(?) was organized by the OK in their attempt to overthrow our federal government.  I am not an OK member, and have only heard the standard reports on the organization and its doings.  Of course, all of these reports have been more than shaded by the outlet/individual who has done the reporting.  Wanting to find out more of what they actually believe, I went to their website to read about their organization, adopted charter/mission, and bylaws.

Nothing I have read or heard from voices I consider reasonable has come close to painting these former members of the military and first responders as belonging to a radical right, anti-government paramilitary organization.  Save for the current efforts by our own rabid Left to nail OK as the organizers and leaders of the 6jan21 affair, there has been no evidence presented that these people have done anything of which they are currently accused by the Democrats and their lamestream.  However, the congressional investigation continues, and every possible filament, no matter how gossamer or tenuous, is made out as a portent of much more damning evidence to come.

From their website and the public record, we learn that –

  1. OK are non-partisan, hewing to neither political party;
  2. Their guiding principle is to maintain the oath we all swore upon entering the military or becoming first responders – to “defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
  3. Instead of anti-government, OK is a dedicated pro-government organization; (As opposed to the existentially anti-constitutional Democratic Party and Biden administration.)
  4. There is nothing paramilitary about the OK, save that their members have acquired military and civil first responder skills, which they continue to preserve and share with other members and associate members.
  5. Under a constitutional government their activism as an organization is constrained to lawful demonstrations against what they perceive as unconstitutional actions and intents by our federal and various state governments and their agencies.

As such, the OK is very much against the kind of neo-Marxist “fundamental transformation” of America into a socialist state as promised and demonstrated by the country’s leftwing factions led by the radical progressives of the Democratic Party.  OK members, like many more of us, believe that if the leftwing autocrats continue making ‘progress’, then there will come a time when our Left will commission the state police and security apparatus, and/or the military (given its current woke reorganization) to finally disarm the American citizenry and complete their planned road to our servility.  They know that the OK and other similar organizations would then seek to mobilize and organize the public against such an unconstitutional and rogue government.  After all, such a response is our heritage, and the most fundamental American tenet is to preserve our liberties.

The proof of this pudding is that a liberty maintaining government of, by, and for the people is not afraid of citizens who retain the means to overthrow and reconstitute its government gone rogue.  A constitutional government would welcome the existence of supportive grassroots organizations such as the Oath Keepers and other assemblies of veterans and patriotic groups.  Since the Left historically has never trusted the people under their control, their ultimate success depends on the concurrent subversion of government institutions while they disarm the populace and discredit organizations assembled to defend America and its Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Evidence to the contrary welcomed.

    “radical right”
If I see those words, I tend to tune out.
I think that ‘radical’ right can be roughly interpreted as ‘Bill Clinton Democrat’. God knows how they’d define the average US citizen in 1960.
What MSM is missing is something worse than ‘Nazi’. When the news gain is all turned to 11 I’d say that a vocabulary has to be constructed. We could call it ‘Newsspeak’.

You are way too restrained, Rebane.
I gave brief consideration to going to D.C for The January 6 rally. But it never smelled right
And I knew others interested in going, but they had kids and foresaw that the militant wing of the democrats, antifa, would be violent. We had not yet realized that the Justice Department was depraved.
Remember when we all learned about a cop with a depraved mind? Doesn’t it fit Attorney General Garland ?
Depravity of mind – that which is contrary to justice, honesty or morality; where they abandon standards, and disgust society.
Garland, obviously, anticipates violence in the schools because he knows how political provocateurs brought violence into the Capitol. He played real sly with condemning parental school board confrontation. Yes, sly. It’s called a “limited hangout”. He is preparing to label a lot more good people as terrorists.
Garland is a scheming, depraved terrorist himself and I pray every concerned parent sees they are being set up.

George, in your applauding of the Oath Keepers you somehow missed the fact that members are pleading guilty partically Jason Dolan. Here’s some details:
“A member of the far-right Oath Keepers militia group that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 has pleaded guilty and will cooperate with investigators against his fellow extremists, marking another win for the Justice Department in its major conspiracy case stemming from the attack.
Jason Dolan, 45, is the fourth person associated with the group that recruits current and former military, police and first responders to plead guilty to conspiracy charges for their roles in Capitol riot. The former Marine from Wellington, Florida has also agreed to cooperate and testify for the government before any grand juries and trials.”
    later the article notes:
“On Jan. 6, he and the other defendant, who were in the crowd on the east side Capitol steps, joined up with other Oath Keepers dressed in tactical vests and helmets who were marching toward the door in a military-style stack formation. The group forcibly entered the building, authorities say in court documents. ”
“Authorities say that days before the riot, Dolan and other extremists joined an invitation only encrypted Signal message group called “OK FL DC OP Jan 6.””

Well Gregory for sure we’ll find out the details but the facts are he plead guilty to felonies so there must have been a serious crime. This much we knowq according to the article:
“On Jan. 6, he and the other defendant, who were in the crowd on the east side Capitol steps, joined up with other Oath Keepers dressed in tactical vests and helmets who were marching toward the door in a military-style stack formation. The group forcibly entered the building, authorities say in court documents. ”
George, do consider this event to be consistent with the Constitutional values you refer to in your post?
George, you claim in this blog that “Under a constitutional government their activism as an organization is constrained to lawful demonstrations”
Do you consider forcibly breaking down doors to enter the Capital constitutional?

PaulE 1144am – you and AP seem to share the same deficit. Just because these guys also belonged to OK does not mean that OK sanctioned and/or organized their incursion of the Capitol. Making your naive connection, between those charged and OK is the same as accusing the Rotary or the US Marines of being a criminal or far right organization just because some Rotarian or Marine was among those who roamed the Capitol halls on 6 Jan. You and AP will have to do a lot better than that with those people who can still think.

    lmfao.
OK. So some federal prosecutors show up and tell you you’re going to spend the rest of your life in jail because of the 53 charges they can gin up.
But if you just admit to a couple and say all the right things about your ‘co-conspirators’, we’ll let you off lightly. Get in all in writing of course since those feds will happily say one thing and then do another once you’re safely in a Supermax somewhere. They’ll put people who do a bit of real estate fraud in for decades, Lord knows what they’ll do to a conservative.

On January 7, my dear friend who lives in DC and after attending the demonstration at the Capitol on January 6 commented to me that he could not believe the lack of Capitol police at the Capitol. There is a legitimate question that is completely uninvestigated. Why was there not sufficient security at the Capitol on January 6? Also, did the government instigate the rioters? In order to get a complete picture, such questions should be answered. I for the one do not trust the FBI, DOJ, or anyone in Congress.

According to the report from the USCP inspector general released in April there were 187 Capital Police officers on duty on the morning of January 6th 2021.
There were an additional 7 platoons of the Civil Disturbance Unit deployed on January 6th, with an additional 140 officers deployed, however according to the Congressional report they were not fully equiped for the task: “Although USCP activated seven specialty Civil Disturbance Unit
(“CDU”) platoons in advance of the Joint Session, only four of those platoons were outfitted
with special protective equipment, including helmets, hardened plastic armor, and shields.”
An additional 177 members of the DC Metropolitan Police force directly responded to the protection duty at the Capital during the insurrection, with many others deployed in the surrounding area but not directly involved in the defense of the Capital.
    That is about 500 officers.
All of your questions have actually been throughly thoroughly investigated, by multiple agencies and widely reported on.

BTW Barry, I think it is important to note that according to the inspector generals report the USCP Civil Disturbance Unit was ordered not to use some of their more potent crowd control measures as they were deployed at the Capital on January 6th…including flash bang and percussive grenades, weighted truncheons, etc…they were instead ordered to use heavier protective equipment.
That was a remarkable level of restraint, and a restraint I hope they do not use the next time.
It is clear that the goal is nothing short of the overthrow of the government and constitutional of the United States, which warrants the use of lethal force.

500 Capitol Police are not enough to protect against an insurrection Barry,I think I implied that, but more than enough to protect the Capitol from a peaceful, or even kind of rowdy protest. Yes, I read the same WSJ article, and the two reports I referenced, which I kind of doubt you did.
The “protest” was not a protest, it was an attack on the Capitol that was unprecedented, and the Capitol Police erred in not realizing that all the signals were there for a violent radical right wing storming of the building. But there are literally thousands of law enforcement and national guard troops in DC that they should have been able to call upon for help, which did not come in a timely manner, particularly from the National Guard.
And help did not come from the President who received multiple calls from his own allies to intervene to calm the waters. Ultimately this is on Trump and Trump alone….and continuing to support his false stop the steal narrative is the opposite of patriotism.

But let’s look at the other actions of the Oath Keepers over the years:
In April 2014: Members of Oath Keepers, including OK leader Stewart Rhodes, joined far-right activists from around the United States in an armed standoff with U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) agents in Bunkerville, Nevada, in support of Cliven Bundy. During that standoff members of the Oath Keepers were armed, aimed weapons at federal agents, and threatened them with violence while in the middle of a legitimate law enforcement action. The militants aimed to prevent BLM from confiscating Bundy’s cattle due to his refusal to pay grazing fees.
In April of 2015: After being cited by U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for unauthorized mining activity at the Sugar Pine Mine, Rich Barclay and George Backes requested security support from Oath Keepers. Members from around the country came for a weeks long armed patrol of the site to defy BLM.
January 2016-February 2016: Unsanctioned by the Oath Keepers national leadership, some members (exact number unknown) participated in the occupation of Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon to protest the conviction of two men for arson for burning brush on federal land. The OK national leadership approved the establishment of an armed patrol to serve as a buffer between the occupiers and federal agents.
January 6, 2021: Oath Keepers participated in the storming of the U.S. Capitol along with members of other far-right organizations, including the Three Percenters, Proud Boys, adherents of the QAnon conspiracy theory, and other supporters of then-U.S. President Donald Trump in an attempt to halt the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. The assault led to the deaths of one police officer and four protesters. One hundred thirty-eight police officers were injured, while the number of rioters injured is unknown (5 killed, at least 138 wounded)
Continuing to support the Oath Keepers is no different than supporting a radical right, anti-government paramilitary organization.

StevenF 659am – What you and yours continue to miss in your denigration of the Oath Keepers is what I pointed out in my 444pm above. As an organization OK has neither accepted a charter to include such deplorable actions by people who also happen to be their members, nor has it perpetrated such actions. As I said before, just because some members of a group doing something ‘anti-social’ happen to be Presbyterians, does not automatically mean that the Presbyterian church is an anti-social organization. The same goes for the NAACP members who also belong to self-acknowledged socialist BLM does not mean that NAACP is a socialist organization.
