There is such a thing as learning from your mistakes.
Not in D.C. it seems as is demonstrated by staying 20 years and being constantly supported by long time pols like Joe Biden.

I am only holding Biden responsible for his role of closing up shop. Not the Afghan War, not the length of the war, not how the ‘Good War’ (as you once called it) started with the backing and approval of our Congress after 9/11. I do hold Biden ACCOUNTABLE for pulling out our military first and leaving Americans behind. Just his role.
Biden was VP for eight years of that war, but I do not hold him responsible for those 8 years. He was only the VP. I hold Biden accountable for the last 3 months. For the last 3 months Biden knew the Tailban was on the march raking in chips like Grant took Richmond.
I do hold Biden responsible and accountable for pulling the aircover for the Afghan Army. I hold Biden at fault for abandoning the Bagram Military Airfield with 5,000 ISIS prisoners housed to go defend a civilian airport in the middle of Afghanistan’s largest city controlled 360 by forces hostile to the US. I do hold Biden accountable for leaving our allies in the dark and without US command and control to fend for themselves.
The thirteen US Marines that were blown to Kingdom Come along with hundreds of civilians were killed because they were given a suicide mission…which was their was their duty and sacred honor. The thirteen were flown in outside Kabul and raced to the surrounded civilian airport to help control outside of the gate to the airport and the mission was to save lives of those Americans and SIVs that were denied entrance by the Taliban. They were the reinforcements….13…the calvary to the rescue sent to the Alamo during the battle. 13 against thousands. No help, no air over, no military backup. That’s all Biden left us to make sure No Americans were left behind. Those at the airport defending our Embassy staff were not allowed to go outside the fence. No missions to go out into Kabul and bring our people home.
The Brits sent in their Special Forces that did go out into the streets and rescue their citizens behind enemy lines. The Germans sent their elite and in a gun battle rescued some of their citizens with no help from our military. So did the French. Canada? No. They left 1,200 behind. They trusted us.
I do not blame Biden for anything other than his decisions to leave Americans behind when he was at the helm.
‘Who and What Is Tearing the U.S. Apart?’

As you said, Paul Emery, ‘only 13 causalities ’. Minimize Biden’s decisions as President all you want, Paul Emery. Minimize it til hell freezes over and death do us part.
PS: Biden left zero ‘escape outposts’ for the few Americans that were stranded. Zero escape outposts.
Paul Emery to Barry:
BArry
“I would have kept the other airport open and some escaoe outposts for the few Americans that were stranded. There are still a few Americans out there but many actually want to stay. All in all only 13 casualties for such a huge evacuation is pretty amazing. Biden is an American hero that finally pulled up out of the biggest military embarassment in history, something Trum promised to do but never did-like everything else he promised. Biden is not responsible for the thousands of America deaths and trillions of dollars of debt caused by our misguided fiasco over there because he wasn’t President at the time. Who do you find responsible for that Barry?

“Biden is committed to providing for the eacuation of all Americans who want to leave. Lets see how he does.”
Paul. We have no one on the ground to facilitate the evacuation of Americans who want to leave. No one. Makes it kinda difficult considering how,our current State Department operates. The rats left that ship days ago. Looks like we will be paying ransom to the terrorists to ‘allow’ them to leave.
Of those Americans who want to stay….ever wonder why? Hmmm? It because as the American civilians and their spouses and children (Afghanis) went to the airport to be flown out of hell, the US State Department told them that they are taking only American citizens at the time. Only US citizens. So, the American civilians in Afghanistan decided not to leave their wives and family behind. They would rather die in that hellhole than left their families behind.
Now, after all is said and done, they cannot make it back to the airport. Taliban looking for their women to rape and marry the 12 year old daughters. Maybe just kill then after raping them.
I suppose you would leave them behind since you support Biden. I would not. I would defend my family first, here or abroad. Leaving someone at the alter ain’t my gig. It is a man’s job to defend his wife and kids. To be their protector. Of course you probably could not relate.
So, we are 100% at the tender mercies of the Taliban to get our citizens out. Trump had to get 60,000 Chinese American citizens out of China and was severely criticized for allowing planes full of “Chinese” to enter the US. He was not going to leave them their. They are US citizens, afterall.
How do we facilitate getting Americans out when they is no US State Department personnel on the ground? Each woman for herself. Thank God for our brave civilians going back in to save their fellow citizens.
BTW: those civilians that were killed along with the thirteen Marines outside the wall at the Kabul Airport? Well, Glenn Beck’s listeners came up with $35 million get Afghan Christians, women, orphans, babies, and Afghani men out. There were 400 souls Beck paid to be rescued through private groups of ex-vets and locals and secret sources to protect their identity. Moved around. They allowed only one night at a safe house per family then had to go. Very dangerous. Many hours on the phone with the State Department at first, then days of no reply. Even Senators got the cold shoulder from State.
They finally made it to outside the airport. They had been standing outside in a open sewer for 24 hours waiting and hoping against hope to be let in, papers all in order. Finally, after standing up to their knees in raw sewage, they were let in.
The AF commander at the airport told his troops to immediately get them off the grounds. Get them out of here! Only American citizens could stay inside. The AF commander has since been relieved of duty.
So, the group of 400 was forced back outside the airport and stood again in the sewage waiting. They were there for about one hour before the suicide bomber approached killing the 13 Marines. One woman….just one woman of the group survived the blast and thanks to private citizens of the US, she is here in the US. One out of 400. Worth every penny of it.

The lefty ignorant press mocked Trump as a failure when Kim Un fired off some missles. But, they were short range missles, not long range. Not in violation of the deal. The art of the deal.
All the above to say that now that we have The Coward of the Country in charge, North Korea is launching long range missle tests.
‘Fuck Biden. Whats he doing to do about it?’ is Little Rocketman’s response to Biden. They must have been watching Sleepy Joe in action giving the Taliban all the carrots after removing ALL the sticks.
Iran was watching too. Trump had them on their knees crying Uncle. First thing Biden did was drop all the sanctions and now their nuclear program is all ramped up and in overdrive traveling at a high rate of speed.
I hope Biden does not touch the Middle East any more than he has already.
Odd that the first stick The Biden Plan gave the Taliban was Bagram. You know, that easily defensivable military airfield in Afghanistan that has China, Russia, and Iran touching her borders. When Biden said “over the horizon” defense, he was not joking.

Guess I could go round and round with Paul. I say Biden is accountable for his role for the handling of closing the door to 20 years in the Muslim tribal land and Paul keeps looking for who is to blame for getting us there. Or, to put it more precisely, he may admit vaguely that mistakes were made by Biden, put others are more to blame! None of this would be happening if we weren’t there in the first place. Yeah, I use the same argument when an illegal alien murders some sweet college co-ed riding her bicycle on a country lane going to see her Grandmother. If…if…if. “You shoulda coulda woulda until you shoulda all over yourself.”
Biden is not above criticism Paul. He has been blasted from all sides. Shocked to see what Stolen Valor Sen. Blumenthal lay into Biden along with corrupt Sen South Jersey Robert Menendez.
Don’t be like Biden, Paul, and blame the military or bad Intel or the military for this black eye. They are not really US citizens, are they’?’ says our Commander-in-chief. The dog whistle Divider-in-Chief.
That is why I repeatedly use the word ‘accountable’ when discussing the topic with you. Biden is not held responsible for Afghanistan, put he sure as hell is accountable for the decisions he made. Unless Sleepy Cranky Old Joe made no decisions and it’s all news to him.
Yes, I am glad we are out. As far as the blame game, I blame the terrorists who attacked us on September 11, 2001 for our being in Afghanistan in the first place. Easy peasy. As the Soviet Union found out what was so unique Afghanistan is that you can take over the Capital but only control 10% of the land.
When we got first got there, the Northern Alliance controlled the north and Al Qada. As we leave, the Northern Alliance is being wiped out and the Taliban control everything and the whole country is run by terrorists. A Jihadist State. What happened to the Northern Alliance? A: night vision goggles. The Taliban always have wanted to fight at night but could not because of darkness. Now they can. And the Northern Alliance is being flushed down the toilet.

I didn’t know you were so ignorant not to know the draft ended in 1973.

I was thinking about the same issue that Gregory brings up. These men are enlisted. They chose to be there. They chose to defend and protect our country and the Afghan citizens. I play softball with a guy who lost his leg. He was doing his job and duty. But they did not choose but to be betrayed by our leaders and their superiors. The men and women that died prior to August of this year died while attempting to achieve a mission which was given to them by the American people. The last 13 men and women that died, died in a mission that was completely FUBAR from the beginning. That’s on Biden.

DAMN Emery! Were you one of the CIA LSD test studies?
No draft? Then why are all the young’ns having to fill out selective service cards TODAY?
Kinda like saying “gun registration will NEVER lead to confiscation” Now we have that “red flag” law.. Cops can come in and take s person’s guns without ever committing a crime.
OH WAIT!! Your were dead set against POT FARM REGISTATION
Now what was your reasoning about that again?

Punch, I celebrated the ending of the draft as I was in college and didn’t want to be drafted to be a pawn in a geopolitical chess game… at least 9/11 happened, unlike the Gulf of Tonkin excuse.
So, you knew they had enlisted of their own free will, and yet you had to ask who put them in harm’s way?

Who was commander and Chief during the Afghanistan War and was responsible for decisions and strategy Gregory?

“These men are enlisted. They chose to be there. ” -BarryP
I suppose one thing that is true is that their bosses never changed. Essentially the same ‘strategic’ thinkers under Bush II, Obama, Trump, President Potato.
From the outside looking in, it seems like Trump gave a good shot to upsetting the applecart of a dysfunctional nomenklatura, but not even the God-Emperor was up to the task. Trump not only had value in uncovering just who the crazy people are, like a fuse in dynamite, but in showing that merely capturing the executive branch is insufficient for any meaningful change.

Emery.. GOOD WAR. The guy you voted for said so, BEFORE he was elected. Yet you still voted for him. Now you can share in the blame.

Punch, with the latest bloopers, we now know Trump was not the Commander in Chief.
It was Milley.
