Let’s face it from the gitgo, Bumblebrain is so out of it that he and those supporters around him don’t even acknowledge the long list of tragedies that this administration has launched in its first eight months in office – border crisis, national crime wave, confused Covid response, $3.5T Green New Deal, mangled national employment, …, and now Afghanistan.  To them these atrocities either don’t exist or are just normative and expected reactions to their carefully laid out policies.

In Afghanistan we now see what has happened when they executed an exit policy that would have been rejected by a third-year ROTC cadet with a couple courses of military history and tactics under his belt.  The two most obvious and advised-against mistakes were the abandonment of the Bagram air base, and the withdrawing our last combat troops before starting the evacuation of civilians.  Everyone with a 3-digit IQ knew that the Afghan army would collapse as a fighting force immediately after we withdrew our air support, intelligence feeds, and contracted mechanics who kept their aircraft and their more complex combat systems operational.  And all, save the administration, knew that the Taliban would then be in Kabul in a fortnight.

Were there any honor left in the administration and its Pentagon political lackies, there would be a long list of resignations on the president’s desk to herald the much-needed housecleaning to make room for a more competent cadre of staff and military leaders.  And were any semblance of justice and concern for national security left in the Democratic Party, there would be a long list of impeachment filings against officials who were obviously derelict in their sworn duties or even criminal in their errors and omissions.

Since none of that is happening, and flacks like Psaki and Kirby are trotted out to obfuscate and confound what is really happening, we know that the cover-up of the century has been launched in preparation for next year’s midterm election.

Part and parcel of the Democrats’ national redoubt is California’s September recall election.  I am of the school that believes that Team Newsom with the help of national Democrats will do whatever is necessary to make sure Gavin does not get recalled.  The state’s election laws are now tailored to support election fraud and ‘irregularities’, abetted by everything from universal use of mail-ballots to the voting/vote counting period that extends before and after the 14sep21 election day.

California has been mismanaged so visibly and for so long that, post-Newsom, people will immediately ascribe responsibility to the state’s political monopoly.  A Republican governor will have the ability to reverse an untold number of misbegotten policies, codes, initiatives, and regulations that have been put in place by executive fiat.  The immediate impact of such a reversal will be apparent to a sufficient fraction of the state’s voters that it would most likely signal the end of the Democrats’ super-majority legislature, and perhaps even their massive embeds in the state’s various appointed and elected office slots.  The problem for the national Democrats is that such a political epiphany will be seen everywhere, and give lie to the progressive policies that have issued from state capitals and city halls across the land, those dominated by proto-Marxist politicians.

The amount of out-of-state money pouring in to support Newsom’s retainment attests to this assessment.  And we ain’t seen nothing yet when the fireworks erupt as the election draws nigh.  It will be a hot time in the old town for many a night.

Meanwhile, Biden’s tragic Afghanistan rout rolls on. (more here)

I suppose that the US will impose Double Secret Probation.
I see that the BBC correspondent from Kabul sez: “Many we spoke to, including eyewitnesses, said significant numbers of those killed were shot dead by US forces in the panic after the blast”
Bad optics for President Potato, so don’t expect that story to be reported.
Lotsa anger from British MPs about this whole ‘situation’. I’m sure that the Churchill bust once again got thrown in the trash to be replaced by some BLM paraphernalia.
Honestly I think the British should write off the US and build up exclusive legal and military ties with NZ/Australia/Canada. Call it ‘Four Eyes’ if you like. The new world is multipolar and as the US becomes bipolar it’s probably best to look out for oneself.

Those people, the pro-gun people, are the people we call “on the right side of history:” Because if you look at the Taliban taking over Afghanistan, the first thing they did was start confiscating the people’s guns. Saying that the people didn’t “need” them anymore. Sound familiar?”

There sure didn’t seen to be as much concern of the well being of American soldiers and contractors during the war that Bush started 20 years ago. To date there have been over 4000 American casualties due to his war that was also supported by Obama and Trump. Seems odd to attach so much blame on Biden for the unfortunate 12 casualties suffered while we are leaving and ending the war which we have lost and should have ended during Bush’s tenure. .

I’m not defending Obama Walt but Biden is doing the best he can to get the fuck out of there, something we should have done a long time ago. Bush left the mess to Obama also a 2,5 trillion bill. Obama did nothing to get us out and just reaffirmed The Bush “plan”. Trump the loser did nothing-ike usual he was all talk so the whole mess was left in Bidens hands.
Losing wars has its consequences and this is one we defiantly lost a long time ago. The Afgan “military” just played us for chumps and sucked up the American bucks until we decided to get out then they joined their buddies in the Taliban and got out of the way not even attempting to take control like they promised Trump and the Pompeous Asshole Sec of State.

Ron Paul, ond of your fellow Republicans, called it right 11 years ago when he wrote this:
“The question we’re facing today is should we leave Afghanistan? I think the answer is very clear and it’s not complicated, that of course we should. As soon as we can,” he said. “This suggests that we can leave by the end of the year. If we don’t, we’ll be there for another decade would be my prediction.”
On leaving, he said: “The large majority of the American people now say it’s time to get out of Afghanistan. It’s a fruitless venture, too much has been lost, the chance of winning, since we don’t even know what we’re going to win, doesn’t exist.”
“We can’t change Afghanistan,” he said. “Even if you could, you’re not supposed to. You don’t have the moral authority, you don’t have the constitutional authority.”

The failure of the Biden administration to name the two Islamic State terrorists killed in a US drone strike in Afghanistan on Friday has led some experts to conclude they were not high-value targets.
In a press conference Saturday, Major Gen. William Taylor only referred to the dead targets as a “planner” and “facilitator,” and would not say if they played specific roles in the airport suicide attack Thursday that killed 13 American soldiers and 169 Afghans. Islamic State Khorasan, or ISIS-K, was behind the attack.”

The Biden Plan: “makes you feel unclean”. Tactics matter. Strategy matters.
‘Our military and our allies no longer trust Biden’
…..“Today, the Biden administration is sharing counterterrorism intelligence with the Islamic militia — a group that were bombing only a few weeks ago. Politico, in fact, reports that U.S. officials handed the Taliban a list of “American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies” so that they could be granted entry into the U.S.-controlled airport at Kabul. Biden did this even as Taliban was seizing Afghan-Americans ’ US passports outside Kabul airport and reportedly turning away Americans.
“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” an anonymous defense official told Politico. “It’s just appalling and shocking and makes you feel unclean.”
“Let me be clear,” Biden told the country this week, “The evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul was going to be hard and painful no matter when it started, when we began.”
This is not what he told the American people in the past. And it was his administration’s incompetence that has made it this painful. Biden’s “aw shucks” folksy “straight-talk” act has always been cynical performative politics. Now, it is part of a deadly lie.“

    Biden’s Disastrous Foreign Policy Instincts
It’s surreal that a person so uncannily incompetent, so tenaciously wrong, could rise to the presidency.
The unfolding disaster in Afghanistan is a bipartisan, transadministrational failure. It is a humiliation. The fact is that after 20 years, after thousands of lives were lost and hundreds of billions of dollars were spent on the military, police, training, infrastructure and education, the country fell in days.
Whatever your position is on the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, however, it is incumbent on President Joe Biden, and no one else, to competently conduct a military withdrawal of his choosing — and, at the very least, avoid humiliation. On this front, Biden catastrophically failed. Then again, the president has never shown a morsel of wisdom or proficiency on foreign policy. As one former Obama Pentagon official put it not long ago, Biden isn’t really a student of history; he is driven by “gut instincts.”
Indeed. The problem is that his instincts are complete garbage.
Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates wasn’t kidding when he noted that Biden has “been wrong on nearly every major foreign-policy and national-security issue over the past four decades.” As a senator, he voted against the Persian Gulf War in 1991. More than a decade later, he didn’t merely support the Iraq invasion in 2003, but he championed it.
Biden warned President George W. Bush, for example, that it was “unrealistic, if not downright foolish,” to claim victory against terrorism until Saddam Hussein was toppled from power in Iraq. It was only after the campaign’s popularity began fading that he purported to have been hoodwinked by Bush. Biden was for a surge in Afghanistan before he wasn’t, and against the surge in Iraq, even though it was perhaps the most successful post-Saddam operation in that nation. And it was Biden who was charged with implementing Obama’s tragically incompetent withdrawal from Iraq, which was partially responsible for the rise of ISIS — or the “JV team,” as his boss called them.
Then there is the Libya debacle. Trying to untangle Biden’s ever-shifting positions on Authorization for Use of Military Force would take thousands of additional words. Put it this way: On numerous occasions, Biden praised Obama’s entry into the Libya conflict — calling it the “prescription for how to deal with the world as we go forward than it has in the past” in 2011. When the full extent of the failure was clear, Biden claimed to have “argued strongly” within the White House against getting involved.
In more recent times, Biden was a proponent of the failed Iran deal and a harsh critic of the successful Abraham Accords. As with the elimination of Osama bin Laden, Biden opposed taking out the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps terrorist leader Gen. Qasem Soleimani, accusing then-President Donald Trump of putting us on the precipice of an “endless war in the Middle East.”
And, for the past 20 years, Biden has been on every side of nearly every position on Afghanistan — usually the wrong one at the wrong time. It’s surreal that a person so uncannily incompetent, so tenaciously wrong on foreign policy, could rise to the presidency, but here we are.
Early in the Afghanistan campaign, Biden would often hit the Bush administration for its failure to send more troops and increase nation-building efforts. In 2002, after Bush had proposed handing off more policing operations to allies, Biden excoriated the administration for not sending more troops. “Whatever it takes, we should do it,” Biden said at the time. “History will judge us harshly if we allow the hope of a liberated Afghanistan to evaporate because we failed to stay the course.”
In 2004, Biden called a tour of a new school in Kabul “a catalytic event” that defined his philosophy forevermore. We needed to export liberal democracy and embrace a “Prevention Doctrine,” Biden argued. And both were contingent on expansive American commitments abroad.
Many people will, no doubt, argue that Biden’s positions change to comport with the facts on the ground. Even if that were the case, Biden helped get into the war and then championed the nation-building and troop buildups.
In truth, the only “catalytic events” that really propel Biden are changes in public polling. By October 2009, when sentiment had shifted against nation-building, Biden had become a leading voice to get out of the Middle East. Despite Biden’s alleged skepticism on the matter, Obama had escalated American involvement soon after taking office, sending 30,000 additional military personnel there — a nearly 50% jump. Biden claimed to be leading voice in the administration. And yet, troops only peaked in 2010. In 2012, there were still 68,000 troops in Afghanistan. Obama and Biden claimed we could leave because there were hundreds of thousands of highly trained Afghan troops and policemen ready to defend the nation.
    They weren’t. They still aren’t.

    The Biden incompetency gets worse.
A former FBI special agent who tracked counterterrorism cases warned that terrorists in Afghanistan stand a high chance of being able to walk right onto U.S.-bound planes as a result of the Biden administration’s dissemination of blank visa papers throughout the country.
“The threat of having Islamic State or al Qaeda come into the country is not increased through the southwest border,” said Kenneth Gray, a senior lecturer in the Fire Science and Emergency Management Department at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.

“And, for the past 20 years, Biden has been on every side of nearly every position on Afghanistan — usually the wrong one at the wrong time.
Even if that were the case, Biden helped get into the war and then championed the nation-building and troop buildups.”

Nope…..no blame whatsoever shall fall upon Joey Grifter.
    You’re pathetic Emery!

Paul. I don’t hear their parents complaining about the incompetence of the leaders who were conducting the war when their children died. We achieved our goal. We should leave Afghanistan. Nobody disagrees with that Paul. What the parents, the citizens, and the vast majority of the military believe Paul is that your boy is incompetent and feckless leader who chose the most incompetent way to withdraw resulting in the death of untold people and abandoning American citizens in Afghanistan. If you can’t understand that, you’re an idiot
