[Yet one more indicator that we are no longer smart enough to govern ourselves as a free nation was the most recent WaPo/ABC poll in which 51% of respondents were satisfied with Bumblebrain’s handling of the economy – ignoring literally every related factor that is promoting the economy coming off of its C19 hiatus (thanks to Trump) while blind to the administrations plans to pass tax and regulation legislation to stifle the economy, launch rampant inflation, and push national debt to historical records not even seen during wartimes.  gjr]

I’m especially interested if you can come up with specific democratic republics such as we are who have completed the journey to being the “draconian police states” that you contend the “evil Democrats” want us to be.

Have any of you pondered (deeply or in passing) that I have read a stack of articles and opinions on the CDC, India Virus (Delta), papers on the risks (harm) of masking children……that just one week ago would have put me in FB jail?
One week ago someone commented on Twitter under a ‘discussion’ of our CDC Director pushing for masking children two years old wrote, “I would like to see the science behind that.” Banned. Not only was his comment banned and thrown down the memory hole, his entire site was erased by Twitter and he was kicked off every major social media platform and harassed at work.

PaulE 1109pm – The list of socialist and communist states with draconian autocratic governments – each claiming to be some form of ‘democratic republic’ – is too long to contemplate. It was taught to all who paid attention during the cold war days, and has only recently been removed from America’s public knowledge base as you so aptly confirm with your question. (Gregory’s 711pm is a start.) And again you exhibit your deficit of only accepting narrow examples that, if not exactly replicated, cannot then be used to illustrate a point. There are countless roads to autocracy and tyranny, and only a very few to liberty and freedom.

Those mutha mullahs overplayed their hand –
Days before a new hard-line president is set to be inaugurated in Iran, Biden administration officials have turned sharply pessimistic about their chances of quickly restoring the nuclear deal that President Donald Trump dismantled, fearing that the new government in Tehran is speeding ahead on nuclear research and production and preparing new demands for the United States.
In June, they were so confident that another round of talks was imminent that a leading U.S. negotiator left his clothes in storage at a hotel in Vienna, where the talks took place through European intermediaries for the past four months.
That session never happened. International inspectors have been virtually blinded. At Iran’s major enrichment site at Natanz, centrifuges are spinning at supersonic speeds, beginning to enrich small amounts of nuclear fuel at near bomb-grade. Elsewhere, some uranium is being turned to metallic form — for medical purposes, the Iranians insist, although the technology is also useful for forming warheads.

The ponytail of ignorance wont read the truth of the matter but here it is –
Democrats were terrified lest Trump be identified with infrastructure spending, something that Democrats had seen as their own turf since the New Deal era. They want Americans to connect “middle-class” jobs with federal government spending, which means electing Democrats to spend ever-greater amounts of money.
That desire ran up against the left’s regulatory zeal, especially on environmental issues, which has stymied infrastructure spending on large scales
Trump wanted to get rid of red tape in the permitting for infrastructure projects. But he also had a bold, new idea that Democrats found even more threatening: using the private sector to drive investment.
In 2018, Trump proposed a $1.5 trillion infrastructure plan, only $200 billion of which would come from the federal government. After all, in areas like broadband, the private sector had already shown itself superior to government “net neutrality” in building out the grid.
Republicans controlled both houses of Congress. Theoretically, passing Trump’s infrastructure plan should have been a no-brainer. But the worst-kept secret in Washington is that Republicans are almost as addicted to federal spending as Democrats are. And Republicans in the House — and especially the Senate — were not about to endorse a new model for infrastructure that took money out of their control. Republicans soon lost the House, and a golden opportunity.
Today they are prepared, just three years later, to accept the terms Democrats are dictating to them — without a border wall; without the Keystone XL pipeline; and with just $110 billion devoted to “roads and bridges,” less than 10% of a $1.2 trillion compromise plan.

Infrastructure. The new term for bull shit.
“roads and bridges” – how much of that is for the demolition of freeways? I thought we already paid tax to DC for highway and bridge maintenance. What happened to that money?
And of course the wealthy need their charging stations on the way to their mountain villas.
Can you imagine Standard Oil having the fed govt paying for gas stations? Why don’t we just charge the road tax at the charging stations per watt just as we charge per gallon at the pump?
And – once at their cozy digs in the middle of nowhere they need their 5g. Uncle Sugar, won’t you oblige?
Where are the replacement jobs for the out-of-work pipeline workers.
Oh, they’re in DC at the new cash disbursement centers. Sorry dirt diggers. Maybe go to Europe and work on Putin’s garrotte on the EU.

Well lookie here their air filter and air security system didnt work –
Months ahead of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Wuhan National Biosafety Lab requested bids for major renovations to air safety and waste treatment systems in research facilities that had been operational for less than 2 years, according to a new congressional report on the pandemic’s origins, obtained by Fox News.
“Such a significant renovation so soon after the facility began operation appears unusual,” said the report from the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Republican staff. The projects for air disinfection, hazardous waste and central air conditioning systems “all raise questions about how well these systems were functioning in the months prior to the outbreak of COVID-19.”
The true reason for the procurement posting is unclear, as is when or if the work was even initiated.

Its a disaster for creepy grampa joe and worse for us –
However, despite extremely low levels of deaths related to COVID-19, new data from the federal government suggests the economy grew at a much slower pace than expected in the second quarter of 2021.
Many analysts were predicting 8.5% growth, but a report from the Commerce Department estimated gross domestic product improved by just 6.5%, a 26% difference. The Commerce Department also slightly revised down its estimates for first-quarter GDP growth, from 6.4% to 6.3%.
According to Paul Ashworth, the chief U.S. economist at Capital Economics, the economy’s disappointing performance is a strong sign that government “stimulus provided surprisingly little bang for its buck.”
The economy’s relatively slow growth is a clear indicator that the Biden administration’s economic strategy of increasing employment through government welfare and stimulus programs isn’t working as expected—which should worry policymakers, considering that the Biden administration’s plans to improve economic growth in the future also rely on this same flawed thinking.
As concerning as the second quarter GDP numbers are, however, there are good reasons to believe that things could get much, much worse over the next year.
Perhaps the most important signal is that inflation has continued to drive up consumer prices. The annual growth of core personal consumption expenditures is now 3.4%, the most significant increase since 1992.
Further, the Labor Department reports that the consumer-price index increased in June by 5.4% compared to one year ago, the highest 12-month rate since August 2008. (It’s worth remembering that August 2008 was just one month prior to the start of the massive stock market crash of 2008.)
If interest rates were to increase, the housing market could be one of the industries that ends up getting hit the hardest. And if the past is a good indicator of the future, a crash in the housing market could drag the rest of the economy into the gutter along with it.
To avoid a potential economic catastrophe, the Biden administration and Congress should slash unnecessary government spending, a move that would help to slow inflation, as well eliminate COVID-19 programs that are discouraging millions of people from returning to work. In May, businesses reported there were nine million job openings in the United States, a record high level.
Unfortunately, the Biden administration and many in Congress are pushing to do the exact opposite. They want to continue programs that will discourage work, and instead of reducing spending, Biden and irresponsible members of Congress are calling for massive, costly new government programs.
By dramatically increasing government spending at a time when inflation is already a serious problem, the Biden administration and Congress would put the Federal Reserve in the very difficult position of having to choose between letting inflation run wild or imposing potentially jobs-killing interest rates hikes. Either way, American families would lose, and lose big.
The only hope of averting economic disaster is to put policies in place that would encourage, rather than discourage, able-bodied people to return to work, while reducing inflation-causing government spending programs.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though the Biden administration is interested in pursuing either course.
