[ (Critical Race Theory) isn’t really education at all, not in the sense in which the term has been understood in the post-Enlightenment era. It is closer to pre-Enlightenment religious instruction: the imparting of doctrinal truth with the practical aim of saving souls and reordering the world. Hence its migration from college campuses to K-12 schools, where its practitioners expect to find supple and more-suggestible minds. They have taken to heart the old Jesuit maxim about the first seven years of life. – Gerard Baker in the 22jun21 WSJ (here)]

    Here’s an entire piece by Republican McBroom about the report and his involvement.
    Senate Oversight Committee releases report on November 2020 General Election
    June 23, 2021
    Senator Ed McBroom
    LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Ed McBroom, chairman of the Senate Oversight Committee, on Wednesday announced the publication of the panel’s report on the November 2020 General Election in Michigan.
    “LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Ed McBroom, chairman of the Senate Oversight Committee, on Wednesday announced the publication of the panel’s report on the November 2020 General Election in Michigan.
    “As chair of the Senate Oversight Committee, I made it clear from the start that the investigation into the November 2020 General Election would be taken with a firm commitment to truth and a goal of reassuring the citizens of this state that their votes counted,” said McBroom, R-Waucedah Township. “People are, understandably, confused by recent changes to election laws, as well as by practices, orders and determinations made by state and local governments in response to the pandemic. They are right to demand answers and deserve nothing less than the truth amidst so much shouting and misrepresentation from both sides of the political spectrum.
    “This investigation was lengthy, thorough, and revealing. We found both real vulnerabilities and resiliency within the state’s elections system. We also discovered the extent to which our elections officials go to facilitate them. The committee’s report goes into considerable detail on many of these issues, and I hope the public is reassured by the security and protections already in place, motivated to support necessary reforms to make it better, and grateful for our fellow citizens who do the hard work of conducting our elections.
    “After innumerable hours over many months, watching, listening, and reading both in-person testimony and various other accounts, I am confident in asserting that the results of the November 2020 General Election in Michigan were accurately represented by the certified and audited results. However, if genuine issues arise from continued investigation, I will not hesitate to ask the committee to consider recommending an audit or amending this report in the future.
    “I sincerely thank all who participated in this process — especially the concerned voters who want nothing but the best for our state and its people. An active and passionate citizenry is critical to maintaining our republic and the public’s participation has been reassuring that our system of government is alive and well in our state.”
    The committee began its investigation into allegations of fraud and security failures just days after the November 2020 General Election. To date, the committee has:
    Conducted nearly 30 hours of public hearings;
    Heard from 87 eyewitnesses, experts and concerned citizens, many under oath;
    Reviewed over 400 pages of testimony; and
    Subpoenaed key documents from the secretary of state and cities of Detroit and Livonia.
    Every major concern about the election was closely investigated, including compromised voting tabulators, incidents at the TCF Center in Detroit, misreporting of results from Antrim County, deceased people voting, and many more.
    Vulnerabilities identified through the committee’s work are addressed in many of the 39 bills included in the election reform package that seeks to ensure the integrity of Michigan elections for generations to come.

    You have been linking to the wrong report all day. lol. My comments stand.
    “As the state’s chief election officer, the Michigan Election Law provides the Secretary of State [Democrat Jocelyn Benson] with the authority to prescribe the procedures with which audits will be conducted across the state.” A democrat set the scope of the audit.
    Once again Paul, you trust the government. I don’t. Republican or Democrat. I don’t trust any of them. It is quaint that you still trust these self-serving politicians. We, the People, need to verify what the government is telling us. Government auditing itself (Michigan) is good. Private individuals auditing government (Arizona) is bad. That’s all you needed to tell me. Got it.

    Barry 1:43. …” you trust the government. I don’t. Republican or Democrat. I don’t trust any of them.”… I agree Barry, I don’t trust any of them either. They are all on someone’s payroll either via campaign donations, dark money or a suitcase full of cash. There are a few, in both parties, that offer honest government based on the people rather than the donors. But given the role of high dollar campaigns in election success, they are few and far between.
    “Government auditing itself (Michigan) is good. Private individuals auditing government (Arizona) is bad.”
    Personally, I would rather trust a public servant, who probably makes a hundred grand a year and has their job because somewhere ing the back caverns of their minds they want to serve what they perceive to be the greater good rather than themselves, over a hired gun who is driven by partisan bias and is handsomely paid.
    Come on…the Arizona audit is a sham. Cyber Ninjas is a one man act who walks in with a predetermined viewpoint (there was fraud) and a determination to find it. Shorten the time period to thirty years. You see a relatively stable number for decades, a huge increase (really huge) under Obama (64% to 103%), and then a stable number under Trump until the COVID Black Swan. The COVID situation didn’t even have the same increase as the Obama years.
    Honestly, I’m surprised that Obama did so poorly in this metric. I don’t remember that much money being spent or taxes going down.

    To tell you the truth, I don’t much care. We’ll probably have to go through a destruction of the currency to get the numbers to a ‘normal’ level, assuming there isn’t some sort of singularity style change in the economy. It’ll be now or later. The Free Shit Army makes it nearly impossible to cut spending in any real sense.
    It’s hard to put together a financial solvent situation when the underlying culture has veered so much from WASP-style saving/working behaviors. Looking overseas, at least part of the problem has been importing too many Greeks.

    To be more complete, overborrowing is only part of the problem. A lot of the over-valuing of the US currency (and the gubmints ability to borrow to keep the Free Shit Navy afloat) is based on the dollar’s use as an international currency…largely based on the efforts of the 17 intelligence agencies, control of other country’s resources, grossly oversized military/world police.
    As that breaks down, and it always does, hilarity ensues.
    Frankly, everyone should become better friends with their neighbors, attempt to learn more useful skills, and ignore the state of the government whenever possible. The .gov will do whatever it takes to keep itself on the gravy train and throw everyone else to the wolves, one by one.

    Found this graph from last week that was rather curious at first glance. Searching to silence those lambs in their heads, I reckon.

    PaulE 1022am – Trump got a better economy, but harder to bring back up to par (which he did in spades), from Obama. Obama got a worse economy, but much easier to fix, from Bush2. (All he had to do was to leave it alone, instead of spending eight years throwing sand into the gears.)

    ‘Kamala Harris Blames Trump For Border Crisis, Touts Biden Admin’s ‘Extreme Progress’ On Immigration In Border Speech’
    “In five months we’ve made progress, but there’s still more work to be done, but we’ve made progress,” she said.

    What in the Sam Hill is she talking about? It only took the Harris-Biden-Obama gang 4 months to completely destroy the good orderly direction at the border. I hope they are making progress after leaving the place in chaos, crisis, turmoil, and ruins. Any progress would be nice after just 4 months of that gang running the show.
