[Did everyone see yet another shot in the shorts for what was known as American culture? To propagandize the administration’s C19 response and highlight Trump’s alleged failure, the Bidens and Harrises observed what can only be described as a kabuki ‘moment of silence’ for the C19 500K death-count. Now what could possibly be confusing about conducting a moment of silence? All you have to do is STFU and look somber for a bit. But not in Bumblebrain’s brave new America; there stood the two first couples (with Dr Jill still talking or giving directions to Joe) in front of the WH’s twin staircases festooned with 500 garishly-lit candles, while an off-camera band played an unusually loud and raucous rendition of Amazing Grace – moment of silence??! Whatever norms we previously observed, henceforth these are to be eliminated wherever they are encountered. gjr]

Let’s take a shot across the LIBs bow.
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/garland-illegal-border-crossings-crime
”
Merrick Garland, President Biden’s pick to lead the Justice Department, said Monday he “hadn’t thought” about whether illegal entry at the southern border should remain a crime.
Garland was asked by Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., if he believed “that illegal entry at America’s border should remain a crime?”
“Well, I haven’t thought about that question. I just haven’t thought about that question,” Garland responded. “I think the president has made clear that we are a country with borders and with a concern about national security. I don’t know of a proposal to decriminalize but still make it unlawful to enter. I just don’t know the answer to that question. I hadn’t thought about it.”
This clown has plenty of “I don’t know” in his answers to EVERYTHING.
And this is the SOB “O”loser wanted on the Supreme Court?
GOD help us if Biden gets a chance.

FYI: According to the New England Journal of Medicine the actual number of Covid-19 infections is far worse than the statistics show. This is because only 1 in 4.6 infections is reported. Many cases are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms and aren’t diagnosed as Covid and not included in the statistics. This suggests that some kind of herd immunity could be in the population already. The rest home death reporting issues in New York and elsewhere suggest that the actual Covid related death toll is much higher than the 1/2 million threshold recently crossed.
On George’s sandbox intro: It must be difficult after giving your fealty to a callous, cruel, and mean spirited man (DJ Trump), to understand why the current administration sought to recognize the tragedy that is Covid-19 rather than dismiss it, as did the previous administration, in an effort to disguise their abject failure to properly respond to the pandemic. Your cynicism demonstrates how politicized your thinking is.

Daily Quotes. Buck made the list, the last quote. Even he, the NYC born and raised kid, is thinking about moving to Florida. Had a BLM protest and mayhem on the streets like right outside. Q of L issues. NY restaurants are open there in Florida, inside, including the bars and libations establishments…. Anyway, quotes.
Insight: “Concentrated power is not rendered harmless by the good intentions of those who create it.” —Milton Friedman (1912-2006)
Upright I: “This is some of the most horrific human activity that we have seen since the last century, and the administration has a responsibility … to convince the Chinese Communist Party not to behave in this way [and] to impose costs on them when they don’t. So to pawn this off as just a different norm or a different set of behaviors, that’s what the Chinese Communist Party says. That’s how they talk about this.” — former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
Upright II: “To hear an American president talk about it in such a way that doesn’t connote all the seriousness with which this must be taken is disheartening, and I hope the administration will take it seriously in the same way that we did when we were in office.” —Mike Pompeo
Canaries in a coal mine: “[Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer] continue to treat the January 6 … criminal riot as an excuse to seize power, to control more power, to step on people’s Second Amendment rights, to take away their First Amendment rights. Now we’re hearing about a domestic war on terror. I mean, what’s that going to be? An excuse to go rifle through the emails and bank statements and personal messages of law-abiding Americans?” —Senator Josh Hawley
For the record: “I was so disgusted that Biden, on the anniversary of my daughter getting murdered, announced they were going to put all these gun control measures in place. [None] of those would have made a difference in my daughter getting murdered in Parkland.” —Andrew Pollack
Friendly fire: “That’s classic Andrew Cuomo. … You know, the bullying is nothing new. I believe Ron Kim and it’s very, very sad. No public servant, no person who’s telling the truth, should be treated that way. But yeah, the threats, the belittling, the demand that someone change their statement right that moment? Many, many times I’ve heard that and I know a lot of other people in this state have heard that.” —Mayor Bill de Blasio
A blind squirrel finds a nut: “I think at some point [Trump] probably will be allowed back on [social media] and probably should be allowed back on.” —Bill Gates
Actually, he dropped the nut: “I am offsetting my carbon emissions by buying clean aviation fuel and funding carbon capture and funding low-cost housing projects to use electricity instead of a natural gas. And so I’ve — I have been able to eliminate it, and it was amazing to me how expensive that was.” —Bill Gates justifying his hypocrisy
Braying jackass: “The bottom line is, Texas thought it could go it alone and built a system that ignored climate change. It was not what’s called resilient, and now Texas is paying the price. I hope they learned a lesson.” —Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
Non compos mentis: “We don’t want low wage businesses. I think most successful small businesses can pay a fair wage. … I love small businesses — I’m all for it — but I don’t want small businesses that underpay employees.” —Rep. Ro Khanna
Non sequitur: “Some of the comments I’m seeing on social media from lefties who hate Rush, saying they hope the cancer takes him away as fast as possible — it’s revolting to me. As much as we talk about Trump and misinformation, there is a strain of contempt on the left that also worries me. Why can’t people just say, ‘We hope that Rush gets better quickly’?” —CNN’s Brian Stelter a year ago (And who does he think fueled that hate, then and now?)
And last… “Let’s see a conversation between the people insisting ‘teachers just want to be safe!’ and the grocery store clerks who’ve shown up for work without fail for 12 months — including when we thought the pandemic was far deadlier. Ah, but they don’t have powerful Democrat unions.” —Buck Sexton

‘How Biden Is Using 500,000 COVID Deaths’
Democrats are pushing a “relief” bill that’s long on politics and short on relief.
…..“Help is on the way, courtesy of former President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed that delivered multiple vaccines in record time. Some say COVID cases are dropping too quickly to be attributable to the vaccines. But daily cases reached an all-time high of nearly 300,000 on January 8 and dropped to less than 65,000 yesterday. Over that same span, we’ve gone from eight million vaccines to more than 64 million. If it’s not causation yet, it’s one heck of a correlation.
Even better news on the vaccines comes from The Dispatch: “One study found that Pfizer’s two-dose vaccine is up to 85 percent effective after a single jab, and that it doesn’t actually need to be stored in burdensome, ultra-cold freezers as previously believed.” And another study found it “to be 89.4 percent effective at preventing infections, meaning the vaccine limits most asymptomatic transmission of the virus as well.”
By the end of March, Pfizer and Moderna are likely to have distributed 220 million doses, with another 20 million coming from the new Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Between these vaccines and natural antibodies, one Johns Hopkins professor thinks we’ll reach herd immunity by April.
But by all means, Democrats absolutely must spend another $2 trillion, and they’ll use whatever milestones and emotions necessary to do it.”

RXC 5:07 – “It must be difficult after giving your fealty to a callous, cruel, and mean spirited man (DJ Trump)…”
I wouldn’t know, dude – maybe if you at least looked up the word ‘fealty’ – just sayin’.
Even more humorous – “…to understand why the current administration sought to recognize the tragedy that is Covid-19 rather than dismiss it, as did the previous administration, in an effort to disguise their abject failure to properly respond to the pandemic.”
And I had thought Biden had a ‘plan’ to end the Planned-emic.
Turns out all he can do is have a media event to dazzle idiots like RXie.
And of course – “properly respond to the pandemic”
Yeah – he should have done something we have no idea of and still don’t, but he should have done it.
You really didn’t expect any lefty that posts here to admit that Biden is full of BS with his pre-election promises of a ‘plan’ to deal with CV19. Biden has openly admitted that nothing will be any better because of anything he can do.
Another dose of Clintonian “I feel your pain”.
Thanks.

Insight: “All you have to do, is to see whether the law takes from some what belongs to them in order to give it to others to whom it does not belong. We must see whether the law performs, for the profit of one citizen and to the detriment of others, an act which that citizen could not perform himself without being guilty of a crime. Repeal such a law without delay. … [I]f you don’t take care, what begins by being an exception tends to become general, to multiply itself, and to develop into a veritable system.” —Frederic Bastiat (1801-1850)
Upright: “We use black power to create white guilt. My approach is biblical: How can I ask my Heavenly Father to forgive me if I can’t forgive my brother? … Many have died trying to get into America. No one is dying trying to get out. … What percentage of black must you be to receive reparations? Do you go to 23andMe or a DNA test to determine the percentage of blackness? Some American ancestors just came to this country 80 years ago, their ancestors wasn’t even here during slavery. Some black immigrants weren’t here during slavery, nor their ancestors. Some states didn’t even have slavery.” —Herschel Walker
Observations: “[Rush] Limbaugh’s devoted fans believed their values helped build and sustain America through wars, economic downturns and other challenges. They see those values under siege from a secular progressive generation that tolerates everything but them. Many had served in the military to defend once traditional values and the freedoms many now take for granted, as if freedom is automatically and effortlessly achieved. These people go to church and take their children to Sunday school. Some enroll their kids in Christian schools or home school them because they dislike what is taught in public schools. They believe their country is losing all moral standards, is becoming increasingly corrupt and in danger of extinction if things don’t turn around. Shouldn’t these concerns explain why they wish to issue warnings because they love the country and don’t want it to fail? Limbaugh was their spokesman in these and other matters.” —Cal Thomas
Food for thought: “People associate evil with darkness. But that is not accurate: It is easy to look into the dark; it is very hard to stare into bright light. One should therefore associate evil with extreme brightness, given that people rarely look at real evil. And those who do not confront real evil often make up evils (such as ‘systemic racism,’ ‘toxic masculinity’ and ‘heteronormativity’ in 21st-century America) that are much easier to confront.” —Dennis Prager
For the record: “The suspension of the rule of law … is when you start to be a police state, and we’re here. There is no way around it. … Lockdowns have never been done in society and really, we are turning into a totalitarian state before everyone’s eyes.” —former Democrat adviser Naomi Wolf
Friendly fire: “[Andrew] Cuomo abused his powers to hide life and death information from the Department of Justice that prevented lawmakers from legislating — like fully repealing corporate immunity for nursing homes. That is an impeachable offense.” —Democrat New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim, who added, “The only way to protect the integrity of the co-equal branch of the state government, AKA the ‘People’s House,’ is to start impeachment.”
A trip down memory lane: “You know, I walked in when I was 21 and I got arrested. In those days, no guards stopping you everywhere. And they just got out of session. I walked in the back; all of the sudden I found myself in the chamber. I was stunned. I walked up, sat down in the presiding officer’s seat, guy grabbed by the shoulder and said, ‘You’re under arrest.’” —Joe Biden in 2007 about being arrested for trespassing in the Senate chamber
Then: “I waited for a vaccination appointment, and patience was rewarded. … I think it was the National Guard running the show. Very cool. Get it done, folks. Let’s kill this thing.” —Stephen King, who lives in Florida, on February 5 | Now: “It seems possible — likely, even — that Ron DeSantis provided rich, Republican-leaning communities like Lakewood Ranch with priority vaccinations for political gain.” —Stephen King on February 22 (“Stephen King is 73 years young. Two weeks ago, he got a vaccine against a virus that’s deadliest to people in his age group. That’s because the state of Florida is prioritizing those people. The elderly are the most vulnerable to COVID. Florida is vaccinating the elderly first. It really shouldn’t be a difficult concept to grasp.” —Jim Treacher)
Non compos mentis: “There are things, even if you’re vaccinated, that you’re not going to be able to do in society. For example: indoor dining, theaters, places where people congregate. That’s because of the safety of society.” —Dr. Anthony Fauci (In other words, the only way to have a safe society is to have no society.)

‘Once-secret FBI informant reports reveal wider-ranging operation to spy on Trump campaign‘
Goal was to find “anyone” inside GOP campaign tied to Russia who could get dirt “damaging”
to Clinton, newly declassified memos reveal.
“Brock, the former FBI executive, said Wray’s and Comey’s effort to avoid using the word spying in the Russia case were simply semantics.
“What they are doing is using preferred definitions,” he said. “When we employ the investigative techniques used against Carter Page to break the laws of another country and steal their secrets, it’s okay to call it spying. When we use those same techniques against a U.S. citizen, it’s called an investigation.””

It is very interesting that the state of California is failing to verify as valid nearly 20% of the signatures on the recall petition, but at the same time the percentage of rejection of ballots as invalid is way lower. And this is a question for George. Wouldn’t math dictate that the verification of valid ballots during a recall or during election should be substantially the same?
LikeLike
Currently, Nevada County is stating that they have a 15% rejection rate and connection with valid recall signatures. Only three months ago, Nevada County asserted that they had nearly an 88% voter turn out. The math simply doesn’t make sense, unless there’s something nefarious going on. Maybe George can shed some light on this dilemma mathematically?!
LikeLike
Barry 928am – If the voters’ mentality and motivations were the same, then the rejection rates should be pretty nearly identical for the large sample sizes encountered for the various cohorts. But since it takes fewer valid votes to put recall on the ballot, the rejection rate may be a lot higher than for an election. The reason being is that the recall opposition is motivated to launch a false flag petition signing effort with rejectable signatories in order to bump the raw count and hope that the petition workers will stop getting more signatures. That will result in much higher rejection rates and possibly disqualify the recall.

Insight: “With the exception only of the period of the gold standard, practically all governments of history have used their exclusive power to issue money to defraud and plunder the people.” —Friedrich August von Hayek (1899-1992)
Observations: “Equality is a social condition. Equity is social engineering.” —Andrew McCarthy
Indeed: “Ever notice how protecting people from dangerous misinformation looks exactly the same as censoring true information you’re scared of?” —Frank J. Fleming
Belly laugh of the week: “Watching a woman put her mask on between bites of food and I can’t help but wonder how we survived so long as a species.” —Sydney Watson
For the record: “The authoritarian left has broadened out the meaning of incitement to include any verbiage that elicits strong emotions … so long as conservatives are responsible for such verbiage. Thus, it’s possible incitement to call people by their biological pronouns but perfectly innocent fun to wink and nod at widespread looting and rioting. … The establishment media are fond of saying that we’re experiencing a crisis of authoritarianism in America; they point to the criminal acts of Jan. 6 and suggest that right-wing authoritarianism threatens democracy itself. The far greater threat to democracy, however, lies with an authoritarian left that is now ascendant in virtually every powerful institution in America.” —Ben Shapiro
Upright I: “My ancestors were slaves. And my life as a young woman was a mess. Was my life a mess because my ancestors were slaves? I don’t think so. My life was a mess because I lived a wanton, irresponsible existence, defined by promiscuity, petty crimes and scamming the nation’s well-meaning but totally confused welfare system to the greatest extent of my ability. Did I need reparations to turn things around for me? Certainly not. I needed a wake-up call, which, to my great gratitude, I got, from a few church-going black Christians who told me the way I was living was unacceptable. I went to church, took back responsibility for my life and turned my circumstances around. The problem with the idea of reparations is it redirects attention away from exactly where attention is needed: on individuals’ personal responsibility for their own unique lives.” —Star Parker
Upright II: “Compensation for damages is a basic legal principle. It’s about personal responsibility. Individual A sues individual B for damages caused. Exactly what the damages were and exactly how B injured A must be shown in a court of law. Today, only a small fraction of our population has ancestors who were around before 1865 when slavery was legal. The idea of collective guilt, with no specific individual identified as causing the damage and no specific individual showing how he or she was damaged, doesn’t fly. If there is any legitimate claim of collective guilt, it is the guilt of original sin, which we learn in the book of Genesis. Every man and woman is imperfect and responsible for fixing themselves — and, by doing so, helping to fix the world.” —Star Parker
Friendly fire: “Multiple administrations have made the callous choice to lock up thousands of children seeking refuge in the United States of America. As long as we see people seeking a better life as ‘aliens’ instead of fellow human beings, our immigration system will continue to fail us.” —Ilham Omar
Non compos mentis: “Bold reimagination is so [important]. DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more.” —AOC
Village idiot: “The Patriarchy continues to try to crush my neck with their heavy boots, cut off my life force and take away my voice—Even those who call themselves artists…………..You know who you are!!! DEATH TO THE PATRIARCHY! Now and Forever.” —Madonna, who’s worth nearly a billion dollars
And last… “In four weeks, the Biden administration has been known for two things: open borders and closed schools.” —Senator Rick Scott

And you thought I was kidding when I said “ICE delivers”.
Well here you go.
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is scrambling to find bigger airplanes and figure out more ground transport capacity for soaring numbers of illegal immigrants, and is even talking with a company that runs “Man Camps” for oil workers in Texas to see whether it will rent bed space for the incoming wave of illegal immigrants.
New Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told ICE that cost is no issue, and to cancel contracts and sign new ones without worry about the price tag, according to the email from ICE Chief of Staff Timothy Perry. Mr. Mayorkas said he is also pondering diverting money from the border wall “to backfill budgets later,” the email said.”

But – so do folks that torture and dismember small children.
Oh, it doesn’t stop there. There are so many examples lately of the Xo Bi Den admin in which highly placed figures or people who are nominated to high positions can’t even give an answer to a straight forward question. They are so unintelligent or uninformed that they can only dodge the question with a pre-formatted screed that does not even start to address the question. Here’s the latest:

I don’t give a small rodent’s rear end what kind of costume Levine wants to show up in for a conformation hearing, but it would be nice if he could at least respond intelligently to a clear and important question. That he is unable to do so is what concerns me.
Why should parents ever be responsible for their children in matters of liability if they are no longer to be able to have even the slightest bit of control over their children’s behavior?
Dr Paul brings up several other pertinent questions that Levine wouldn’t even touch.

re: Yes, we all want schools to reopen. Especially K-8. Yes, we all care about the children.
Interesting to see VP Kamala Harris stop bobbing and weaving for once and get into her rift about something she knows all about besides arresting parents of truant kids. How school closures affect or kids, even if it’s just for a few seconds, it was refreshing to hear.Still waiting for the teachers unions to tell Harris & Biden what to say. Politics trumps children and we all lose.
‘Kamala Harris fumbles when challenged on school reopenings in ‘Today’ interview’
“We know, we have worked on this issue for years, around the fact that by the end of the third grade, if a child is not at third-grade reading level, they literally drop off. So each day in the life of a child is a very long time, and that’s why we’ve got to collectively do everything in our power to reopen our schools as quickly as possible and as safely as possible.”

‘Kids Are Resilient And Kids Will Recover’: Nat’l Teachers’ Union President Dismisses Effects Of School Lockdowns’
https://www.dailywire.com/news/national-teachers-union-president-dismisses-effects-of-school-lockdowns
Who was it that predicted last fall that schools would reopen just in time for summer vacation? Think it was Buck Sexton or Matt Walsh. After summer break for the teachers, we will see if they reopen for the fall.
PS: In this case, resilient is the wrong word to use. Does not quite cut the mustard. The proper word the Teachers Union Head should have used is ‘adaptable’. Children are adaptable. They adapt to all sorts of things, from witnessing domestic violence or criminality down the street, to being homeless, watching Dad lose a job, wars, to Dr. Rebane being strafed as a child.
Children adapt to bad situations like not being in school, seeing their friends, running around the playground kicking a ball and burning off energy, and yes, playing sports and going out for pizza with the family on Friday nights.
While some school aged kids have kept up with the academics, their social and developmental needs have not. They adapt. They have found 70% of kids in some areas (districts) that did not bother to log on to their Zoom lessons even once. Hard to bounce back to something one never had. Adapt, not resilient.

What I don’t like is these Zoom lessons in kids’ bedrooms and so freakazoid teacher flips her wig and calls the cops on the parents and expels immediately the kid cause little Johnnie had a squirt gun on a shelf behind him!! Holy Bat Guano, it’s a gun!!!! And call CPS. Make little Johnnie a foster kid on top of being locked down and locked up.
Boy, they really would blow their tops if little Johnnie had a movie poster on his wall. Domestic terrorist!

Dont bother with the facts –
Police use deadly force under 1,000 times out of 30 million violent felony criminal contacts per year. That’s a 0.0004 percent chance of being shot by the police. In America, “you are more likely to be struck by lightning than to be shot by police.”
The NYPD in 2019, with 35,000 officers only fired their weapons in the line of duty 34 times. The Chicago Police Department, with 13,000 officers, only fired their weapons in the line of duty 34 times, and the Baltimore Police Department only fired their weapons in the line of duty four times.
O’Donnell accused politicians of playing a “shell game” by distracting the voters’ attention to false policing narratives while failing voters in “education, infrastructure, and transportation.”
O’Donnell noted that by defunding the police, “politicians will not decrease your taxes” but relocate the money to different areas. And when crime goes up, the municipality will “raise your taxes to lower the crime.”
“That’s all this is; they are just using this money and this opportunity because ‘never let an opportunity go to waste,’ that’s a democratic motto – to fund all these projects they’ve always wanted to fund all along.”

DonB 715pm – And here’s another stat worth noting as the Left makes their next attempt at taking our guns. Even though the probability is very low of your being murdered by a rogue cop, your probability of being murdered by a CCW permit holder is six time less, or 1/6 the probability of being shot by a rogue cop. In America, CCW holders are the safest armed people of all – the least likely to perpetrate any kind of ‘gun violence’.
