[There is a lot happening in the world while our federal govt is focused on the attempts to remove President Trump from office before his term is up next Wednesday. Haven't heard much discussion of how our 'friends' and declared enemies are preparing for the new Harris/Biden administration. There's some serious stuff going down as they anticipate a new TBD foreign policy from Washington. Usually the bad guys pull off some kind of test to gauge the measure of America's new Big Kahuna. gjr]

While Trump personally lost, he had the good sense and ability through a difficult contended administration to benefit the country, and especially America’s minorities. We can now watch the black and Hispanic unemployment rates, and the fractions of their household incomes derived from various govt wealth redistribution programs. “Newsom also wants to give $430 million worth of tax credits to businesses that stay in California and create full-time jobs. That proposal comes as a record number of people are leaving the state, slowing California’s growth rate to its lowest since 1900. A number of high-profile businesses have recently announced they would move their headquarters to other states, including tech giants Oracle and Hewlett-Packard.
The proposal would also extend a popular tax credit for small businesses. Many businesses had to lay off or furlough workers because of the pandemic. Last year, Newsom signed a law that promised to give small business owners a tax break if they hired those workers back. Business owners got a $1,000 credit on their state tax bill for the net increase of each new worker between July 1 and Dec. 1.
Newsom said more than 9,000 businesses have reserved $54 million of those credits so far. His proposal would spend $100 million to extend that program, but offered no further details.
Other benefits include another $50 million for a program that offers up to $100,000 in loans to small businesses, $100 million to expand a sales tax exemption to reduce the cost of manufacturing equipment, and a proposal Newsom says would mitigate the effects of a cap of a federal income tax deduction.

Absolutely, those with more than their fair share of greed are driving out the above. The average person can no longer afford to buy a house. So what is the cause? You and yours will probably babble some incoherent rap about government regulation, bad loans, and taxes but the real reasons belong in the realm of wealth inequality. “investors,” with money to burn, drive up prices because they can pay whatever it takes to acquire a property for a rental. Much of the pre-crash real estate price increases were investors trading amongst themselves. Then there is the stagnant wage situation where most of the middle class have seen very little economic gain over the last few decades especially when compared to the wealthy. This was all before Covid. The 600 plus American billionaires have seen their wealth increase by over $1 trillion since Covid started. That is enough to give every man, woman, and child in America a $3,000 stimulus check.
As far as taxpayer money as bribes. look at there other end… large corporate enterprises are notorious for “negotiating” deals with local and state agencies to move their companies.. especially Texas.. it becomes a bidding war all to the corporate advantage not the taxpayers.

Let’s think about that for a second.
There’s certainly a lot of land in California, although the very best parts are already inhabited.
What would make the price of new home construction go up (which in turn drives up existing house prices)? Some combination of labor rates, materials cost, state requirements for construction (ie. ‘code’), permits and taxes, cost of borrowing. Labor rates are driven down by mass immigration from the Third World at the cost of citizens ($$ down). Materials cost is driven by offshoring ($$ down) and scarcity ($$ up). Building code in CA can be crazy, Lord knows what the additional cost of solar, fire suppression, etc. is ($$ up). Permits/taxes are pure governmentonium ($$ up). Cost of borrowing is artificially suppressed by government ($$ up).
I guess the obvious solution is more offshoring and to import more underpaid labor from Latin America. Of course, they’ll need houses too. Oh dear.

I missed David Marcus’s useful New York Post column “The threats and violence Twitter won’t police.” As we have noted, Amazon, Apple, and Google acted in concert to shut Parler down “supposedly because it hosts calls for violence,” as Marcus puts it, “but a simple search of Twitter shows that it regularly allows such calls itself.” For example:
Twitter hosts a #KillTrump hashtag. In all of the glorious English language there is no clearer, plainer, or shorter way to call for violence than the word kill followed by someone’s name. But there it is. One of these tweets reads “#ArrestTrump not enough #KillTrump.” And this isn’t new, back in June the hashtag #AssassinateTrump was bouncing around the website with gems like “Someone take this clown out NOW.” That tweet is still up.
For a few more examples:
[T]he Ayatollah Khamenei tweeted this in November, “. . . Palestine will be free, while the fake Zionist regime will perish. There’s no doubt about this.” So encouraging a completely legal challenge to election results gets our President banned, but the leader of Iran’s brutal state threatening to wipe out Israel is no problem at all.
There is a Twitter account that calls itself “Pigs In A Blanket, Fry Em Like Bacon,” a call to kill police that is also found in myriad tweets. There is currently a tweet up from the day of the Capitol riots that reads “I hope the Trumpers out there all die of Covid. When Congressman elect Luke Letlow did die with Covid there were tweets celebrating or calling it justice.
Antifa, which engaged in riots all summer in Portland has several Twitter accounts that they use to organize. In July a left wing Portland journalist tweeted during a riot, “Heads up all, it looks like Andy Ngo is here.” Author and Antifa critic Ngo has been physically assaulted by the group. Clearly she knew she was putting him danger.
The point is that Twitter is a cesspool of threats of violence, but takes little notice unless they come from conservative voices that threaten their power and their bottom line. This idea that Twitter is acting in the interest of the community or promoting healthy discourse with its censorship is absurd. Twitter acts in one and only entity’s interests: Its own.
We cannot but be moved by Twitter’s concern about the free speech rights of its consumers in Uganda (via Tristan Justice/Federalist):

I like the idea of the poison underpants, although I suppose a Nagant would be more traditional. You know, the Selous Scouts used to be up to shenanigans like that. Their Freedom Fighter opponents would commonly steal clothes after they tortured and killed the store keepers or farmers. Nature is red in tooth and claw I guess.
re: Biden’s upcoming healing process.
I’m going to guess that’ll happen after all possible gains are made. There’s something of a digital coup going on right now, and the Blue Mob has a bit of blood lust going on right now. It’s fairly easy to guess the next few Blue moves, the unknown (or the unknown unknown) will be the inevitable countermoves.
An interesting take would be for Atlas and His Deplorables to simply shrug. No need for F250s with flags roaring around or trucker strikes, simply quit buying anything you don’t need or buy it used. Let the spotters bear the weight on the bar. I suspect that plumbers and mechanical engineers will do better than non-profit CEOs and corporate diversity officers. Who can hold their breath the longest? We could stand to shrink the consumer part of the economy in any case. Enlarge the cash economy, improve self-sufficiency, starve the beast.
