    The trend is good –
    The daily IBD/TIPP tracking poll shows Joe Biden’s national lead over Donald Trump slipped nearly three points overnight, from seven to just 4.4 points.
    “The latest Biden vs. Trump poll from IBD/TIPP suggests the race has become competitive with just one week to go,” IBD/TIPP reports. “President Donald Trump’s support has surpassed his 2016 share of the vote in the IBD/TIPP presidential poll update, while Vice President Joe Biden appears to have lost ground among some key groups.”
    “Trump’s 46.3% support is a new high-water mark in the IBD/TIPP presidential poll, topping his 46.1% vote share in 2016.
    Rasmussen, another one of the few pollsters who got 2016 correct, released a national poll Monday that has Trump leading by a single point, 48 to 47 percent. In this weekly tracking poll, Trump closed what had been a 12 point gap in just a few weeks.
    Early voting –
    In Georgia, where Biden left his basement to head out to today, the GOP is up 50 to 43 percent.
    In Ohio, Republicans lead 48 to 39 percent.
    In North Carolina, Democrats have a ten point lead, 40 to 30 percent, but in 2016 they had a 13 point lead and Trump still won the state by five.
    In Wisconsin, the GOP is up five points in early voting, 42 to 37 percent.

    Elections have consequences –
    So what does Chief Justice Roberts do when the associate justices split 5-3 along familiar lines? If he joins the liberals and makes it 5-4, Justice Thomas gets to assign the majority opinion and perhaps induce the court to a bolder conclusion. If the chief justice joins the majority, he makes the assignment. The resulting 6-3 decision will likely be less sweeping, but it won’t be liberal. Those who hoped for a conservative chief justice 15 years ago may finally get one.

    Police said the suspect, Steven Cohen, 63, shot Queens convenience store employee Mohmediyan Tarwala, 26, in the stomach following an argument. Tarwala was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
    Officer Jason Maharaj, who was off-duty and inside the store at the time, chased Cohen outside and tackled him. He held the suspect until other officers arrived.

Kamala Harris of California continue to claim this week on the campaign trail that he has failed to do so.
    The Trump campaign rolled out a nearly 5-minute-long video of the president, featuring video clips from as recently as this month, to his 2016 presidential campaign, and dating all the way back to an interview Trump gave to Matt Lauer in the early 2000s, where he denounced White supremacy and “disavowed” White supremacist groups.
