Well Robert there are two possible reasons Trump could have had for saying such a thing. One is that he an ulterior motive such as something like you note or that he is a stupid idiot to even go there in an election year. I go for the latter because everyone knows he’s a stupid idiot with a loose mouth. There is ample proof to document that so that’s my hunch.

Maybe trumpler is capable of learning something new.. but probably because a campaign advisor told him to say it and it might get him a few more votes by killing fewer of his supporters.

‘Native American Seattle City Councilwoman Dresses Down ‘Defund The Police’ Protesters After Being Targeted’
Protesters have showed up at her house by the dozens a few times, shining their car headlights into her windows at night and using a bullhorn to chant and hurl insults, she said. She stayed at a motel one night and warned family members to keep away,” according to the outlet. “People also spray-painted names such as ‘corporate bootlicker’ and obscene messages on her street, and they continue to send her harassing and threatening texts.”
In a city council meeting last week, Juarez tore into the protesters, accusing those pressing to Defund the Police” of “poisoning” the movement for greater racial equality with their “white privilege.”……
“This is my life. This is home. This is not Coachella. This is not City Hall,” Juarez said. “Also, I’m not the toxic dumping ground where you need to come talk about your white privilege and how you need to talk about Black lives, because you sure as fk don’t care about my life.””
“The hypocrisy of these goofy white people who have these Black Lives Matter T-shirts are all of a sudden ‘woke’ and talking about centering BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) is bullst,” Juarez said. “Because they didn’t live our lives. They didn’t live our trauma. That’s the hypocrisy that breaks my heart because they don’t know who I am.”

Speaking of shithole lawless cities run and owned by Democrat Inc….
THE DECLINE AND FALL OF SAN FRANCISCO
Not long ago UC Hastings School of Law, as well-regarded law school in downtown San Francisco, sued the city because local neighborhood conditions had deteriorated to the point that the law school was losing prospective students who took one look at the place and said, “No, thanks!” Hastings is a very liberal law school—I don’t think they have a single conservative on their faculty—but as Robert Conquest reminded us, everyone is conservative about the matters they know best or which affect them most directly.
The city settled with Hastings, agreeing to remove 300 tented homeless people. If you live elsewhere in San Francisco, you’re not as lucky.

“The problem, of course, is that it has been the PCA branch of progressivism that have been ascendant in recent years, at least in the United States. Whereas the dominant strain of cultural leftism once was primarily characterized by a spirit of compassion, it increasingly has come to be dominated by intolerant scolds who seem more eager to shame heretics than to do actual good in the world. Studies like this one should serve as a wake-up call: Given the strident manner with which progressives denounce bigotry, it surely should trouble them to know that, where underlying personalities are concerned, priests and heretics look very much alike.”

George 3:01 –” the silly things that come out of his mouth”. To call trump’s verbal discrepancies “silly things” belies the fact that those ‘silly things’ are obvious signs of deep psychological issues that go way beyond being silly, especially considering the position of power the man occupies. He is a sick puppy whose inflated self-image is crashing down around him…. Crazy and dangerous… Whether you agree nor not, the best, short term, thing for this country is to overwhelmingly dump trump and start over in 2024. It really doesn’t matter that Biden is vanilla, but like Lyndon Johnson, he knows the ropes of Congress which will help put some of the pieces back together, unlike all of the kings horses and all of the kings men have been, so far, unable to do. Then, perhaps, the nation can get back to business as usual without all of the phony drama and have a real election and debate in 2024 about the nation’s future direction on any number of fronts. But currently, business is not as usual and, perhaps, people need to think outside of the box.

RobertC 558pm – Now here I think you are the silly boy if you believe that Biden will finish his first and only term. I already informed you months ago (I think I was the first) that the DNC made Biden an offer for nominating him. They choose his VP, and he resigns with honor (health problem, et al) before completing his term so that the VP can run as the incumbent in 2024. And today all the short list VPs are corrupt and/or communists. So Bumblebrain knowing “the ropes of Congress” is sheer fantasy; he doesn’t even know where they currently keep the ropes, let alone which ones to pull.

“Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz clashed with Democratic Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono at the end of a Senate subcommittee hearing Tuesday on antifa violence.
Cruz, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, convened the hearing to discuss the role antifa and other left-wing groups play in ongoing riots in major U.S. cities like Portland.
Before getting up to leave the hearing, Hirono said “we can all agree” on denouncing “violent extremism of all stripes.”
“So to constantly accuse Democrats of not caring about that is … I can only say that you aren’t listening,” she added. “So I hope this is the end of this hearing, Mr. Chairman, and we don’t have to listen to any more of your rhetorical speeches. Thank you very much. I’m leaving.”
“I appreciate the, as always the kind and uplifting words of Senator Hirono,” Cruz responded. “And I would also note that throughout her remarks she still did not say a negative word about antifa, nor has any Democrat here. They instead engage in a political game where they depend — you’re welcome to say something negative about Antifa right now.” “

Have you ever heard of anythng like this before? Paying the government for the “right ” to make a business decision to purchase a company.
(CNN Business)After days of whiplash over the future of TikTok, President Donald Trump said he would allow an American company to acquire the short-form video app — with a catch.
Trump on Monday set September 15 as the deadline for TikTok to find a US buyer, failing which he said he will shut down the app in the country. In an unusual declaration, Trump also said any deal would have to include a “substantial amount of money” coming to the US Treasury.
“Right now they don’t have any rights unless we give it to them. So if we’re going to give them the rights, then … it has to come into this country,” Trump said. “It’s a great asset, but it’s not a great asset in the United States unless they have approval in the United States.”

This is from the official California voting guide.
Note it specifically refers to a postmark which raises a question as to your opinion that there is no postmark on mail in ballots.
Here is the exact quote:
“Vote-by-mail ballots that are mailed must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by your county elections office no later than 17 days after Election Day.”
Here’s the entire section.
Voting By Mail
Pursuant to Executive Order N-64-20, all registered voters will be sent a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 3, 2020, General Election. Registered voters do not have to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot for this election.
Instead of going to the polls on Election Day, you may vote using the vote-by-mail ballot that will be sent to you.
After you have voted, insert your ballot in the envelope provided, making sure you complete all required information on the envelope.
You may return your voted ballot by
mailing it to your county elections official;
Vote-by-mail ballots that are mailed must be POSTMARKED on or before Election Day and received by your county elections office no later than 17 days after Election Day.
If you are not sure your vote-by-mail ballot will arrive in time if mailed, bring it to any polling place in the state between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
returning it in person to a polling place or the office of your county elections official;
Vote-by-mail ballots that are personally delivered must be delivered no later than the close of polls at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
dropping your ballot into one of your county’s ballot drop boxes; or
Vote-by-mail ballots that are personally delivered to a ballot drop-off location must be delivered no later than the close of polls at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
authorizing someone to return the ballot on your behalf.
Anyone may return your ballot for you, as long as they do not get paid on a per ballot basis. In order for your ballot to be counted, you must fill out the authorization section found on the outside of your ballot envelope.
When your vote-by-mail ballot is received by your county elections official, your signature on the return envelope will be compared to the signature on your voter registration card to ensure they match. To preserve the secrecy of your ballot, the ballot will then be separated from the envelope, and then it will be tallied.
All valid vote-by-mail ballots are counted in every election in California, regardless of the outcome or closeness of any race. For additional information on how and when ballots are verified and tabulated, please visit our description of how the official canvass of the vote is completed.

PaulE 218pm – You missed the point. You are citing the desiderata of the California Elections Board and ignoring the policy and practice of the USPS re printed envelopes with pre-paid postage.
Read what the NYT did with such ballots since they didn’t know their datestamp.

So you are saying that the ballots are not postmarked in California?

Job performance polls are meaningless at this stage. Shows Biden with I’m focusing on election polling that shows Trump with a mighty hill to climb and no measurable movement in his direction at this time. Here’s a link to RCP.s election map based on election polling that shows Trump way behind. Shows Biden with 283 to Trumps 101. Virtually all states have individual polling at this stage.

“That my department is full of extremists who probably don’t belong in a business-college economics department, to be sure, is a manifestation of academic freedom,” Osborne wrote in an email. “And I do not want to change how economics is taught at WSU, broadly speaking. I just want my academic freedom to offer a different view to also be respected.”
Osborne claims that American universities and colleges have been overwhelmed by leftist dogma. Many of his peers continue to teach students that Marxism is a “triumph of human thought.”
“Institutions of higher learning are now almost all in crisis. The indulgence of unapologetic leftist censorship, at Wright State as elsewhere, is now impossible to justify,” Osborne finished. “If faculty want to preach that Marxism is a triumph of human thought, so be it. If other faculty want to argue that actually it was a disaster, and a crime against humanity, this view should no longer be fanatically censored.”

Despite the narrative touted by proponents of the Black Lives Matter movement, which contends that minority communities desire to see less policing in their communities, 61 percent of black Americans indicated that they want police presence to remain the same. Another 20 percent said they want to see police officers spend “more” time in their communities, and 19 percent said “less.”
Similarly, 59 percent of Hispanic Americans said they want police presence to remain the same, as do 63 percent of Asian Americans. Seventy-one percent of white Americans concurred. Notably, 24 percent of Hispanic Americans said they want to see officers spend “more time” in their area, versus 17 percent who said “less time.”
The survey also found that 61 percent of black Americans remain either “very” or “somewhat” confident that police would treat them with courtesy and respect, compared to 91 percent of white Americans, 77 percent of Hispanic Americans, and 78 percent of Asian Americans who feel the same way
The survey’s findings come as Democrat leaders nationwide make broad moves to defund the police, as demanded by many Black Lives Matter activists. Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, a self-described trained Marxist, has called on the Democrat Party to adopt radical reforms in its party agenda, including defunding the police and dismantling the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
