[Given this week’s SCOTUS ruling on Indian lands in Oklahoma (here and here), the future of all 19th century abrogated treaties with our indigenous Americans will come up for review. All this will create chaos in the governmental jurisdictions involved, not the least being the status of non-Indians and their property rights. gjr]

re: Blackfeet.
Not a bad name. Easy on the ears.
Maybe team management could put an RFP out for the name to all the Indian tribes. Somebody with a catchy tribal name or concept could suggest one.
An alternative would be to change all of these names to traditionally European one. The ‘Gauls’ maybe. ‘Centurions’. Heck, I don’t even care if it’s insulting. The Washington Bogtrotters might be a bit too long

You could go full Soviet and ape their naming conventions…..instead of “Smolensk Hero Beet Processing Factory #27″….you could rename the Redskins™ something like the Washington Peoples Sports Kollective of Peoples Republic for Glorious NFL”.

The more I think about our current education system in the Year Zero, i am more inclined to get with the times and call the franchise The Blackfoots. Redskins, 49ers, Saints, and even the lowly Rams all end in a ‘s’. Blackfoots will be the appropriate spelling.
Hmmm. Maybe Boston and Chicago were way ahead of their time with the Red and White Sox. Ok, the Washington Blackfootx. How woke is dat? Berry berry woke, Kemosabe.

One problem with trying to build an alt net is that there are too many choke points. Emerianism is everwhere and if they can’t kick you off of GoDaddy, it’ll be VISA or Paypal.
It could be that have a crazy Blue Mob is just the thing at this point. It’ll serve to harden up the economy and communications infrastructure, sort of like a low grade infection. Better now than 20 years from now.

For the record: “If the multibillion-dollar NFL decides that multimillionaire players have no obligation to stand to honor a collective national anthem, and that there will be separate anthems and politicized uniforms, then millions of Americans will quietly shrug and change the channel. And that silent protest will make the 2016-17 anthem protest look like child’s play.” —Victor Davis Hanson
Upright: “If politicians ignore or even tacitly encourage these mobs, they will declare more and more things offensive until they have targeted every Founding Father, every religious institution (some are even calling for the removal of images of Jesus because His representations are ‘too white’), and virtually any symbol of ‘oppressive’ Western civilization. We must put an end to this now. The rioters and statue topplers must be arrested and prosecuted. We must educate the public about the truth of the founding of the most exceptional nation on earth. And we must wrest our educational system from the hands of leftists who use our schools as indoctrination centers — before we lose yet another generation to them. This must be our wake-up call, because as Ronald Reagan also admonished, freedom must be fought for, protected, and handed on to our children to do the same, or one day, we’ll be telling our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” —Kay C. James
An honorable and gracious exit: “I think it is time for this Republican Party to listen to the Donald Trump agenda because he has talked about those things frankly and openly. And I think they were huge factors in his ability to win that past election.” —Jeff Sessions
Food for thought: “The goal is to get to a society where we pretty much never think about race and just treat each other as equals, but people keep saying the way to get there is a detour through constantly think[ing] about race in absolutely everything.” —Frank J. Fleming
Race bait: “Americans purchased millions more guns than usual this spring, spurred in large part by racial animosity stoked by widespread protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, as well as anxiety over the effects of the covid-19 pandemic.” —The Washington Post’s Christopher Ingraham
Non compos mentis: “Firearm violence nationally jumped nearly 8 percent from March through May because of excess gun-buying.” —Christopher Ingraham peddling bogus research
And last… “The number one priority of media and Democrats, but I repeat myself, is to ban all children from going to school (even private and religious schools) in order to keep parents at home and prevent the economy from recovering. Not for public health reasons, but to hurt Trump in Nov.” —Sean Davis

Just imagine the change a cashless society would make if in the hands of the Blue Mob.
If anything, the current uproar might be our last best opportunity to avoid a completely locked-down surveillance society, even if things are ugly in the short term. The tools of state control are becoming too effective to be trusted to crazy people like the social justice warriors. Iran’s Internet censors apparently tried to stifle the online outrage by choking off-network traffic, but they could not suppress what students of Iranian social media described as an “unprecedented” backlash.
The BBC noted several influential Iranian celebrities nevertheless joined the campaign asking for the executions of Amirhossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajabi, and Saeed Tamjidi to be halted. A few Iranian political figures got involved as well, essentially warning that killing the three men might be a line the regime could not cross without sparking a revolution.

I’m afraid you are completely (completely) missing my point. I’m not talking about changes, but that there is a window closing on the ability to make changes of any kind.
Not that things will or won’t go to hell in two decades, wars/plagues/cycles in human behavior can always speed up things, but even in the case where public policy alters slowly the tools for control are increasingly set in place.
For a second, don’t look at the current uproar but simply the substrate of government and commerce. Networking effects and economies of scale lead to monopoly and centralization. Technology is making it easier to not only acquire data on individuals in different ways but to do the harder thing, parse it with understanding. Truly big data storage allows corporations/.gov to never forget. Snowden’s ‘turnkey tyranny’ is going to be owned by someone and they’re unlikely to let go.
Better that the Left start their civil war now. Sometime in the future, they’d only need to flip a switch given their dominance in some areas.

You’re going to have to explain that.
To me it sounds like the idiot that proclaimed “the end of history”.
Or the guy at the patent office that thought we’d invented just about all there was to invent.
In the late 1800s.
What happens when they ‘flip the switch’ and the power goes dead?
“Stuff happens” applies to everyone, always.
I’m not so much worried about the ‘left’ as I am with humanity in general.
History has shown that far too many humans will gladly cut off their nose just to spite their face.
We (humans) have been through centuries of crawling in crap with no reasonable outlook of improvement and yet somehow, things got dramatically better.
At least for a while.
Then they didn’t. They threw it away and went back to crawling in crap.
It seems to go in cycles of some sort, but not always in any sort of pattern or fixed time period.
There existed a system for eons where the average person (99.999999% of the pop.) was under the thumb of some sort of tyrannical rule with zero hope of change.
Yet change did happen.
And the fools are ready with knives to once again slice off their own noses.
The only permanent thing is change.

That some combination of government and corporations will have systems set in place that make their positions permanent, plus their ability to steer a mass of people will improve to a great degree. This ability to provide stabilized central control is a new thing in history.

No doubt it’s due to the systemic racism that the students there bitch so much about.
I can only imagine the amount of crazy that incoming students have to deal with right now. You do have to wonder how much research the more elite schools do on their applicants, like HR departments the world over, to make sure that they meet some political standards.
It seems to me that at this point college is a bad bet for most people, at least the ones lacking a real genius in something that can only be taught in that environment. Perhaps The Plague, which could last for years in some form, might result in a push for more certificates/testing of some sort rather than a degree. Dunno. It isn’t like you need a law degree to practice law in California.

Nah – nothing is permanent.
It’s a common idea that the book ‘1984’ alluded to a ‘permanent’ future. Long-lasting? Very probably. Permanent?
That would have been a good question to ask (Orwell)/Blair.
I’m no more happy than you about the bleak future we face in our lives but if you want to live with humans, you have to deal with human foibles and weaknesses as well as human strengths.
It’s my view as a student of history that most humans aren’t Winston Smith, nor do they want to be.
Keep them fed and busy with some sort of work and provide some mindless entertainment and the vast majority of humans are content to then suffer an amazing amount of totalitarian control. We can/are being bred like cows into a docile sort of creature happy to graze without much effort or risk until it’s time for the round up.
I think the schism over the way the public has reacted to the current pandemic is classic. One side wants to have the POTUS dictate a restrictive and uniform set of rules in hopes it will protect them and the other side believes local and personal choice provides the best balance between freedom and risk.
The colonies revolt against the King succeeded because the vast majority of colonists were extreme risk takers. Just the voyage was fraught with danger and the life ahead in the new world was highly uncertain. Now our country is saturated with the fat/dumb/happy sort and the newer influx of immigrants have certain knowledge life will be much safer and more prosperous than the crap-land they came from.
It used to be “give me freedom or give me death” but now too often it’s “I want my MTV”.
Brave New World, indeed.

They have gone full blown thought nazis –
Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., responded Friday to a former Hillary Clinton adviser and super PAC leader who called her “inbred, racist trash” after she criticized the Black Lives Matter organization earlier this week.
Adam Parkhomenko, who was also a former field director for the Democratic National Committee, slammed Blackburn after she noted Monday that a BLM leader described herself as one of many “trained Marxists.”
“The life of every African American matters. But Black Lives Matter is a 501(c)(3) organization run by ‘trained Marxists.’ We cannot allow our great country to be destroyed under the pretense of social justice,” she wrote.
On Fox News Radio’s “The Guy Benson Show,” host Guy Benson noted that Parkhomenko responded to that commentary by calling the senator “inbred racist trash” and asking her to “please, f— off.”
“This is one of Hillary Clinton’s inner circle and I think that’s what surprised many people,” Blackburn said. “People felt like it was over-the-top.”
The senator added that Parkhomeko’s remark is another example of the virulent response to people who oppose leftist orthodoxy.
“We know that they don’t apologize and they don’t make excuses,” she said. “What they try to do is just make a mess and not try to clean up.”

Well, that’s hard one to best, no doubt. Now ads for Marsha Blackburn’s children’s books are banned on Instagram. Go figure. Was it something she said?
Ok, I will see your full blown thought nazi and raise you one Queen Nan, the woman whose face keeps sliding off to the side:

These are not the actions of a democratic republic.

AMERICA’S REPORTERS AND EDITORS ARE LIARS
“A sound adage holds that you should never assume malice when stupidity is a sufficient explanation. Here, the only explanation is malice. No one is as stupid as America’s reporters and editors pretend to be. The sooner their companies go out of business, the better.”

Majority leader McConnell writes about John Lewis
“The Senate and the nation mourn the loss of Congressman John Lewis, a pioneering civil rights leader who put his life on the line to fight racism, promote equal rights, and bring our nation into greater alignment with its founding principles.

Not a peep from Trump. Disgusting and an obvious example of how out of touch Trump is with basic human values of the deserved respect and appreciation of John Lewis for a life well lived in service to his country .

The fun thing is all the typical responses to a Trump tweet. Paul, they sound just like you. They never tire, it just goes on and on and on.

So the burning goes on –
A fire at the cathedral in the French city of Nantes is believed to have been started deliberately, prosecutors say.
Three fires were started at the site and an investigation into suspected arson is under way, Prosecutor Pierre Sennes said.
The blaze destroyed stained glass windows and the grand organ at the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul cathedral, which dates from the 15th Century.

Good for the Donald. He really is a swell guy and a wonderful human being. I stand corrected.

No but his 11:16 am was so important that he tripped over the Ottoman in the front room while sprinting for the keyboard and almost broke a toe when he kicked that box that he’s been meaning to take to the garage for the last year!

For those clutching their pearls about Trump’s belated recognition of Lewis’ passing, I would advise them to get a more firm grip on the same as they read my comment, had I occupied the Oval Office –
‘John Lewis was a giant in the vineyards of civil rights when it counted in the 1960s. In those years he joined with other African-American leaders who put on the line their lives, treasure, and sacred honor to level the legal playing field for all Americans in their access to public facilities, the workplace, and the ballot box. However, in his later years as a MOC he went off the rails, and did his race and his constituents a disservice as he proposed and promoted Democrat policies which destroyed the black nuclear family, laid waste to inner city black neighborhoods, gave them second class schools, and established the ‘plantation’ that ensconced African-Americans with the permanent taint of perennial victimhood that could only be assuaged by ever bigger government and more transfer payments.’

Or at least, openly talk, because they’re not going to change their minds if we act like they’re stupid. You know, the insane political correctness – even though it’s mostly correct – is gonna make Trump win. It’s a class issue. I promise you, in the neighbourhoods in Baltimore that are really struggling with poverty, they’re not worrying about pronoun usage. I’m not saying that some don’t! But it’s rich kids’ schools who are the most stringent police of it. I never understood what a trigger warning was, I thought you went to college to have your values challenged. I thought that was the point of education.
