[The value of anything is highly subjective, always determined by a 'seller' and 'buyer' when they strike a deal. Therefore the value of any given 'thing', e.g. human life, varies according to who is the human and who is the 'buyer'. Any values set by third parties with no skin in the game are arbitrary and quickly circumvented by/in markets. So consider the back window yellow diamond sign that reads 'Drive carefully, Baby inside', and another one reading 'Drive carefully, young PhD in neuro-science inside', or even one that reads 'Drive carefully, Community organizer inside'. How would you rate the implied value of these lives? to you? to society? gjr]

The FBI confirms early report it was just a door opening handle that broke off –
The FBI has determined that a noose found in NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace’s garage at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday had been there since at least last year, according to the bureau.
A statement issued by U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town said that an investigation has concluded that no federal crime was committed.
“The FBI learned that garage number 4, where the noose was found, was assigned to Bubba Wallace last week. The investigation also revealed evidence, including authentic video confirmed by NASCAR, that the noose found in garage number 4 was in that garage as early as October 2019,” the bureau said. “Although the noose is now known to have been in garage number 4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week.”
Further details were not immediately released. The FBI said no charges would be pursued in relation to the incident.
“The FBI has completed its investigation at Talladega Superspeedway and determined that Bubba Wallace was not the target of a hate crime, NASCAR said in a release after the findings. “The FBI report concludes, and photographic evidence confirms, that the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since as early as last fall.”

Trump has found his J. Edgar,
“According to his prepared remarks, Elias will say that at Barr’s direction, the antitrust division launched 10 full-scale reviews of merger activity in the marijuana industry that the division’s head, Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim, acknowledged were motivated by dislike of the industry “on the fifth floor,” where Barr’s office is located. He also plans to describe how staff were hastily ordered to initiate an investigation into major U.S. automakers that had entered a deal with the state of California to impose stringent emissions standards, the day after Trump tweeted about them.”

Kind of a bummer really, I think the efficacy of masks is an interesting question. It’s not only the material and fit, but the environment they are worn. Obviously the urgent care with coughing urchins is a different situation than hiking (or any outdoor situation). These people with the stagecoach robber masks are a sight to behold, but nothing tops the nose-showing people…or the folks who just stomp around with one hanging around their neck.
As usual, in a politically charged area, at least for 1/2 of us, it’s largely virtue signalling. After all the kneeling and masking and Trump polling, I’m losing the will to live.

Insight: “Let the laws be clear, uniform and precise; to interpret laws is almost always to corrupt them.” —Voltaire (1694-1778)
For the record: “It is soft bigotry to excuse lawlessness on the basis of race. If you regard all people equal in God’s eyes, then you don’t assess their conduct differently based on their race. Nor do you give white social justice liberals a pass because they claim to be championing minorities.” —David Limbaugh
Upright: “Let’s be clear, the mobs pulling down statues make no distinction between Confederate and Union, slave-trader or abolitionist, secessionist or pro-Union. They make no distinction between American, Spanish, or Cherokee. They do not care if the monument was erected in the nineteenth century or the twenty-first. … Conservatives should reject the entire notion that tearing down monuments, whether to Confederates or conquistadors, can ever be considered salutary or even conservative in any meaningful sense. To do so would be to accept the left’s corrupted view of American history, which demands we destroy all reminders of our sinful past.” —John Daniel Davidson
Alpha jackass: “Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down. They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been. In the Bible, when the family of Jesus wanted to hide, and blend in, guess where they went? EGYPT! Not Denmark. Tear them down.” —Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King
Non compos mentis: “Latinos are black. … We have to have conversations around ‘colorism,’ and we have to have conversations around the African and indigenous roots from which we come and how that’s reflected in systems of power.” —Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
And last… “The media has spent more time reporting on President Trump’s rally in Tulsa than a 3 year old boy who was shot & killed in Chicago. That should tell you everything you need to know about their priorities.” —Charlie Kirk
Hmmm. Maybe that should of gone under ‘letters from the Revolution’ or ‘reflections on racism, no time to decide’ or Spring Time for the Great Divide’.

“As we have previously disclosed, beginning in January 2020, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri [EDMO] has been conducting a review of the Michael T. Flynn investigation,” Sherwin and assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Ballantine wrote. “The enclosed document was obtained and analyzed by USA EDMO during the course of its review.”
“This page of notes was taken by former Deputy Assistant Director Peter Strzok,” they continued. “While the page itself is undated; we believe that the notes were taken in early January 2017, possibly between January 3 and January 5.”
They added: “These materials are covered by the Protective Order entered by the Court on February 21, 2018; additional documents may be forthcoming.”
Powell told Fox News she could not share the contents of the documents due to the protective order, but confirmed that she received nearly two pages of hand-written notes, which were heavily redacted.
“The few notes produced today do further exonerate General Flynn,” Powell told Fox News Tuesday.

“SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The following is a statement from Cole Smead, President of Smead Capital Management:
Why We Moved
The decision to relocate from Seattle to Phoenix was not a reactionary move caused by any of the events of the past several months. As stock pickers, we continually evaluate our own business just as we would any of the companies that our clients own in their portfolios or the opportunities that the stock market presents us with for new investment. We took great care and deliberation in making this decision to relocate, which we began mentally exploring as early as two years ago. We announced our decision to move to Phoenix internally to our staff in January, long before COVID shutdowns or nationwide protests made their way to Seattle. Put simply, nothing happening or being reported in the news right now had any weight in our decision to relocate from Seattle to Phoenix.
We love Seattle as well as the relationships and the experiences it has given us.”

And here I thought we’d put the issue of masks to bed some time ago. The Left (e.g. PaulE) demands a yes/no answer to a question the real answer to which is depends on more factors that we can shake a stick at. It’s all a matter of probabilities of stopping the spread from an infected person, to preventing getting infected in the public square. And here’s the fact of the matter that every should realize – the C19 transmission process is so complex that NO ONE knows what the various (and yes, there are many of them) probabilities are. Moreover, NO ONE has the time, money, or physical means to even take a ‘scientific’ look at the problem. So anyone who asks whether ‘Dr Fauci was right/wrong’ about wearing masks is simply not clear on what’s involved. But that doesn’t stop Fauci et al from saying yes/no from time to time as the PR situation demands.
So put a mask on if you want the probabilities to be some unknown bit in your favor, or don’t. But for heavens sake quit trying to demand a simple answer to every realworld question that comes along – it ain’t gonna happen (unless you have the naivete of a child).

PaulE – I’m not much of ‘gather in crowds’ kinda guy, most certainly not to go to a political rally. But given my age, I most likely will tilt the probabilities in my favor a bit with a mask if I suddenly find myself in crowd. But Fauci has given no public evidence that he knows anything more about the probabilities involved than do I. But people like you want definite answers, and it’s his job to give them, even if he has to change them later. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Thanks so much for reposting my June 21 9:42. That means more people will read it. It’s quite brilliant I might add. I really appreciate it and George’s readers do as well.
Yeah Joe doesn’t need to do anything because Trump will just defeat himself. He’s about ready to fire his campaign manager and I can’t imagine who would want that job. Are you interested?

Yeah George there were some dirty tricks involved but the reality is that only 6000 or so supporters showed up out of what Trump estimated to be 2 Million reservations. Really George, do the math. The event was a dud and a failure and Trump looked like an idiot with his statement that he was ordering a slowdown in testing because it affected the numbers. What a weirdo.
Biden doesn’t have to do anything.

As to your 7:40
Is it not Trumps job to provide the leadership so we can effectively navigate thru this terrible situation? Early on Trump said this was a War and he is Commander in Chief. Does that not imply that it is his responsibility to provide the leadership. I’m not going to ask you whether you are satisfied with his effort. I don’t want to embarrass you.

Which terrible situation? The Chinese caused virus or the one where your allies are burning, getting people fired, tearing down, boycotting, looting?
I admit that it’s one way to win an election. Vote for Biden or we kill your dog.
Paul, you and your people never had any intention of letting a normal election occur. Any smidgen of morality you might have claimed is long gone.
